Snowfall

Chapter One

Julianna's POV

"Julianna Eve! You better wear layers and at least two coats!" My older brother yelled as I closed the door behind me. You would think be the time I was eighteen he would stop reminding me of this simple task. However, that wasn't the case.

As I stepped out side I shivered. Never had November been so cold. The temperature had already dropped from fifty degrees Fahrenheit to below freezing. This was a new record for the state of Alaska. Thankfully, my car had seat heaters and was toasty in no time.

My trip to the store was quick, for all I needed was wood and batteries. Tonight was supposed to be the start of a snow storm that would last for at least two days. Joy. To those that live off the coast of sunny California, do you know how hard and time consuming showering snow is? I can guarantee you that if you had to deal with snow you would hate it, too.

As I walked back to my car I felt a light tap on my shoulder. "Can I please have a ride to the airport?" A young man asked. "There aren't any cabs in sight." I felt a pang of sympathy for him. He probably had to go home to some family before Thanksgiving. More that likely his flight would be delayed for days. Time was running short, but if I dropped him off quickly I should be able to get home in time.

"Of course." I told him and he let out a deep sigh.

"Thank you so much!" He let out a deep sigh of relief. "I'm Louis Tomlinson by the way." He added.

"You're welcome," I paused. "My name's Julianna, but you can call me Julie if you would like." I offered.

"No, Julianna is fine." Louis said, tilting his head slightly. As soon as I got in the car and turned on the radio Louis started singing obnoxiously.

"MY HEART'S A STERIO! IT BEATS FOR YOU, SO LISTEN CLOSE!" He yelled in my ear, swaying back and forth in his seat.

That was the last straw for me. I leaned over, taking one hand off the steering wheel, and tried to slap him across the face. However, Louis reacted quickly and caught my arm in midair. He frowned at me.

"What did I do?!" I asked, clearly annoyed.

"Nothing," Louis muttered. "What did I do?"

"For starters you wouldn't shut up!"

"Well, if-" Louis started, but I cut him off. We drove past the exit.

"No!" I stopped my foot in frustration on the gas pedal. "We missed the exit!"

"Then turn around."

"I can't do that!" I exasperated.

"Why not?" His voice was panicked- not that I blamed him. Poor guy.

"Because of the storm! Why else?!"

Louis shrugged his shoulders. "I just really need to get the the airport."

"Well," I started. "I need to get home!"

"But-"

I held my hand up. "No," I said firmly. "This is my car so it's my way. You are welcome to leave- no one is forcing you to stay." I motioned to the door. Louis stuck out his bottom lip pouring, but nodded, looking sour.
