Madalyn
Chapter 12
"We have some bad news..." The lady said. Oh God, please let it not be too bad.
"Yes?" My voice was shaky with anticipation.
"Your sister and Mother were killed in a drive by shooting," the woman said.
"No," I choked out, dropping the phone to the floor. "NO NO NO NO NO!" I screamed in anguish as the woman told Ariella and Liam what happened. Ariella starting wailing with me as sobs wracked my body. Poor, innocent Maia with her dark hair and ability to cheer anyone up. Why did it have to be her?
"Madalyn, we have to go," Liam whispered at me. I had cocooned myself and stopped making any noise. No more tears fell, I held them back. After he got no response, he picked me up and carried me to the private jet.
I was numb to the world. I thought of how the last time I talked to them was right before Liam and I made up. If Liam told my mum that we had a fallout, and I didn't call to tell her otherwise, she will never know how happy I am with Liam.
Silent tears poured down my face as everyone sat in solemn silence. I realized that I wasn't allowed to come to the funeral. That was the last part in my mum's will. She didn't want me to see her dead, she wanted me to remember her alive. Besides, she and Maia were getting cremated anyway.
"You can go to sleep, if you want," Liam offered, rubbing my thigh. I said nothing. Did nothing. Only allowed the silent tears to fall as I put barriers up. With reinforcements this time.
