Run Away

Chapter 4

I looked at Louis in disbelief. I seriously have to stay here? “No way, I’m going home.” I told him and tried to get out of bed again.

“Listen here, Princess, you are going to stay here until I tell you otherwise. Got it?” he said and leaned towards me. “If you have a problem, I’ll be sure to take it to the complaints department.” Wow his eyes were really pretty.

“Ugh fine, just can I have something to change into other than this suffocating dress?” I asked.

“You could sleep in the nude, I wouldn’t mind that.”

“I’m leaving now, bye.”

“Sorry, sorry. Let me go get you something, Alexis.”

“Call me Lexi.”

“Okay, Alexis.” I can’t deal with him. Minutes later, he came into the room holding some pajamas with the coca cola bear on them.

“Seriously? You own these?” I asked and couldn’t help but laugh at his reddening face. Karma!

“Yeah yeah. Just get changed, okay?”

“Fine,” I said and he left the room again, but only to be called back in by me. “Louis? Can you come help me for a second?”

“Sure, what is it?” he answered.

“Can you unzip me?” I felt his hands on my back, one pulling the zipper and the other holding the dress against my skin. His hand lingered on my lower back once he’d finished and my heart rate quickened yet again. I heard him walk away and close the door, so I decided to just let the dress fall off, but as soon as it had fallen, I heard the door re-open. I turned around, only to face a smirking Louis. My cheeks heated up and I quickly wrapped my arms around my body to try to cover myself.

“Sorry about that, love. I’ll just leave you.” He said and exited again. I quickly put on the pajamas he handed me and then left the room to find him. His shirt and pants were a little big on me so I kept pulling them around awkwardly, and when I was entering the kitchen, my feet stepped on the end of the pants and I slipped, falling right into someone’s arms. I used the person’s body to support me and then push myself up. When I met their eyes, my whole body froze.

“You’re that Liam guy.” I said and backed away from him to the point where I was pressed to the edge of the counter. He opened his mouth and looked at me, then closed it and looked down.

“Yeah.” he muttered.

“Why are you here?” I asked. I wasn’t really as afraid of him as I was curious. Why is he in Louis’s house and why did he leave those notes for me?

“Err, this is my place?” he said and looked confused.

“Are you Louis’s roommate?”

“Yep, that’s me.”

“Why did you leave me those notes?”

“I was supposed to, otherwise I wouldn’t be alive today.” What the hell? Alive? What’s going on?

“What do you mean ‘Alive’?” I asked. I want answers.

“That doesn’t matter. It’s really early and I’m gonna head back to bed. See you later, Lexi.” Liam said and then left me in the kitchen, confused. I walked back to the room I was staying in and looked for my phone in my pile of belongings. Once it was located, I texted Avery telling him to pick me up as soon as possible. He owes me answers. Seconds later, my phone vibrated to notify me of a new message from Avery saying he’d get me after he gets a little sleep. He’s not the one who almost got raped or something!

“Fucking twat.” I said and threw my phone down, then sat on the bed and placed my face in my hands. Tonight was supposed to be fun, but no of course not. And the worst part is that I don’t even know what’s really going on. I’m being told a bunch of lies and my brother and his friends are keeping a boatload of secrets from me that I deserve to know. I could tell I was crying now and there was no stopping tonight. I let the tears slide down my cheeks and I just stared at the ceiling, waiting for sleep.

The light coming through a window woke me up and I had to adjust to it. I would know how to wake up with lights on, but of course I can’t have a window in my room so that’s a no go. I crawled out of the bed and immediately took off my pajamas. I then put on my dress from last night. I don’t want to take Louis’s clothes so I’ll just wear this again. My face was red and slightly puffy from all of the crying last night and the bags under my eyes were as dark as dark can get. I took my heels in one hand and my bag in the other and left the room, ready to go home. Louis was in the kitchen, making coffee or tea and dancing around to some music that did not seem like it was his taste.

“Good morning Mr. Perky Pants. Avery is coming to get me soon, so I’ll be out of your hair within the hour!” I told him.

“First of all, you’re not leaving this house wearing that. You can borrow some of my clothes. Second, my roommate and I are giving you a ride home.” he said and brought me a mug.

“Okay? Can we go soon though because I really need to talk to Avery. I’m kind of pissed at him.” I replied and took a sip of the tea. “This is good.”

“Anything for you, Princess. I’ll go get some clothes for you. Wait here.” he instructed and I complied, taking another sip of the tea and re-tying my hair up into a bun on top of my head. Not long later, Louis reappeared in the room with some clothing in hand. I stood up and put the mug on a little table, then took the clothes and went into the bathroom. I managed to unzip my dress on my own this time in my more sober and calmed state and I put on the large clothes that Louis donated to me. When I returned to Louis, He handed me a sweatshirt and told me to put it on over my shirt.

“It’s not even cold outside.” I argued. This was frustrating.

“Just put it on.” he said and we went arguing like this for minutes.

“No.” I said back every time until he lost it.

“Put it on god damnit! It’s for your own safety, okay?” He said and crossed his arms.

“Fine, but just tell me why it’s so important to my well-being.” I negotiated and slipped the jacket on.

“Everything will be explained soon. Let’s just get going.” He said and pulled my hood over my head. He called Liam out of his room and we three left their apartment. It was brick, like Avery’s, except there was graffiti in a few areas, along with beer bottles and cigarettes littered around the building. Louis led us to a car and he told me to get in the back seat. Minutes later, we were on the road, driving to Avery’s.

We got to his flat, so I jumped out of the car but I soon felt a hand grip on my arm.

“We aren’t going in the front way this time. Follow us.” Liam told me and guided me to the back of the building, where some stairs led to a back door that I didn’t know existed in the little apartment. We entered the house together and Louis locked the door behind himself. Once we were in the living room, I realized that not only was it me, Louis, Liam, and Avery, but also Perrie, Zayn, Harry, and that brown-haired chick that Zayn was cheating or something with.

“Lexi, I think you should sit down.” Perrie said and patted the space on the couch next to her. I obeyed but looked at her confusedly. What the heck is going on?

“Why are you guys here?” I asked and looked at Avery for an explanation.

“You said you wanted answers, so we’re gonna give you them, just bear with us.” Avery said and then sat on a stool from the kitchen.

“Just please tell me what’s going on. Avery I’m confused and I just want to know whatever it is you’re keeping from me.” I said and sighed.

“I know, I know, that’s why everyone is here. Lexi, meet your protection program.”

What?
