Hayden's POV

~~One Week Later~~

Things have been going really well. I am feeling better, I can feel the wounds getting better. The doctors have taken me off the painkillers, well off the majority of them. I hope to be let out in a week and half, give or take a few days. People come to visit on and off. Mom and Dad have ben trying to come see me but they are the last people I want to look at. If they come, Austin comes, and beside I hate them all right now. What Austin did was terrible, but with time maybe forgivable, what Mom and Dad did was unforgivable. I'm not sure I can look them in the eye without reeling back in disgust. But Harry. He's the thing I worry the most about. I mean sure he has kissed me here and there, we call each other little things and it's great and all, but I don't know where it's going. I'm not trying to sound all mushy and gushy or clingy and shit but I'm just curious. I don't want to give my heart to someone just to have them throw it away.

I sigh and stuff the composition book back under my pillow, just as Harry walks out of the bathroom. "Hey babe... you are gonna need to give that some attention." He says gesturing towards the toilet. I frowned at him as he strode to the bedside. He leaned down and pecked me on the lips. "I'm sorry, but when you gotta go you gotta go." He said chuckling.

"Doesn't mean you have to use my bathroom." I mumbled.

"Anyway, I was thinking I would head back to your dorm for a few hours, you know get cleaned up... I can't keep pretending you enjoy my stench." He said. The only form of clean he has gotten was from the bathroom sink, and man he smells disgusting. But as much as he needed a clean, I couldn't hide my disappointment.

"Ya, well I don't need anymore stench in this room, especially after the shit you left." I said trying to lighten my spirits.

"But before I leave, how are you?" I sigh internally, this is the umpteenth time he has asked me that question.

"Oh I'm fine, I can feel it in my soul, God is healing me. Praise the Lord, let your mercy rain on me. Heal me, make me stronger." I said as he frowned. "But really, I am doing much better, much much better. I really do feel a lot stronger." He smiled lightly and nodded.

"Well, I'm going to take off. But I'll be back soon sooooo.... don't find anyone else." He says sternly before leaning down to kiss me again. "I'll see you soon." He says before exiting the room. I listen to his slow footsteps move down the hallway and close my eyes. Might as well try and sleep."

Harry's POV

I almost couldn't make myself leave after seeing the look on her face, but I know all will be forgiven when she sees what I have planned for tonight. I moved swiftly through the white halls, towards the revolving doors. I was about to leave when I saw Dani coming in a few doors down. "Dani!" I shouted to grab her attention. She looked around slightly bewildered before seeing me and walked over.

"Hey Harry, finally leaving I see. Can't believe you are actually leaving Hayden's bedside?" She says slightly questioning my antics.

"Yeah, well I figured it was time for someone else to get her for more than a few hours." I said slightly laughing. "Have any of you told her yet?" She averts her eyes from my gaze.

"No."

"Dani, one of you has to tell her. Go tell her now. She needs to know. She just keeps talking about it to me and I can't tell her because I'm not even sure why you are doing this." I say frustrated.

"Fine, ok. I'll go tell her now." She says and begins to walk away.

"Dani!" I say, grabbing her attention once more. She turns to me. "Good luck." I say before turning out the door to the bright sun and the paps.

Hayden's POV

I slept for about two minutes before someone was walking back into my room. "Hayden?" I looked up to see Dani standing in the doorway.

"Hey, whats the update?" I ask her while sitting up slowly.

"Well for the most part people are just really nervous. The doctors aren't telling us much stuff about your condition, so thats not good, but as you get better they get more confident in your full healing. Maddie is doing everything in her power to keep your parents away from here, but she can't make any promises." I sighed and she frowned at me. "Hayden, we think we should just let go of the case... pass it on to the next team." My eyes widened.

"No. You cannot do that." If they let go of the case then Harry will leave and I just don't think that I am ready for that. "You can't take this case away, we are doing good. Why are you going to take it away?" I ask wildly.

"You got hurt... What if that shot hadn't hit you in the arm. What if it had hit your heart or your head?" She asked.

"Dani.... Was it you or any of the others that got this beat up? Were any of you shot? Flung into a flaming building? Were any of diagnosed with severe burns and a minor concussion? No, so the case stays. I am the one you are passing the case on for and I am the one saying I am fine and that you are going to continue the case. OK?" I order her.

"Ok, I'll just go call everyone and tell them." I nod and she leaves the room. I cannot, will not lose Harry right now.
