Wake up, dance, study, and sleep. That is the cycle my whole life has been going in. All I ever longed for is to go on an adventure, somewhere far away from Australia. Ever since I learned how to walk my mum and dad signed me up for dance lessons. From that day on my parents made sure that I would be the best at everything I set my mind to. Failure was never an option. Everything I do it must be exactly the way I intend it to turn out to be, some say I am a perfectionist but I only strive for success. From a young age my parents geared me to be great in anything I choose to be. My name is Mia Cowell. Or as everyone else down in Melbourn likes to call me nerd. I guess thats the curse you get when you parents put so much pressure on you. Which is exactly why every summer, until now was mainly focused on dancing and trying to get ahead. From aching feet and sweaty body. In some ways I am glad my parents did that because now I got to graduate a year earlier than everybody else. Anyway back to my previous summers, this time summer was going to be different because I was going to London. London was only something I only ever dreamed about exploring.
Once my parents laid the news on me that I was off to London in a couple of months, I literally jumped for joy. Well that is until... My mother told me the news I dreaded to hear. “Mia, your sister will be accompanying you on your trip.” my mother bluntly told me. “What?! No. This can’t be happening?” I asked sternly with only an aggressive response from my beloved mum “Abby needs to explore new places, learn new things, and what better way than to go with you.” I sat there dissapointed that my sister out of all the people she was the one to have to go with me. You see me and my sister are total opposites, we are literally like day and night, water and land. Once my sister was born, she was spoiled rotten she wasn’t pressured into excelling like I was all she ever had to do was show up to the place and it would be great. Speaking of the devil. Here comes Abby strolling through the hallway up to the kitchen, like she owns the place. “Hey mum! Mia.” She responded. “Did you hear?” I vaguely asked her “Yeah, can’t believe we are going to London!” Abby let out a squeal. “Aren't you just so excited?” she asked. Ha. She actually thinks I am happy to go with her. “Yeah...” I quickly replied showing no enthusiasum. I was deep in thought thinking how much better it would be if we just shipped Abby to boarding school, when all of a sudden someone interrupted Mum commanded. Wow, could this day get any better? First I am going to have to drag Abby along with me and second I have to wake up early. Just bloody fantastic! There was no point to argue with my mum so I just replied sleepily “Okay mum, good night.”

Beep! Beep! Darn you alarm clock! I can’t believe it was 4:30 in the morning and I managed to actually get up. Well today is the day, that the rest of my summer relied on. Finally I put on my outfit. I was wearing my trackies, a plain white tee, and my Victoria’s Secret Pink jacket. I was ecstatic today was going to be amazing and long an 18 hour flight, with my favorite person ever... Not. “Girls! Come down stairs its time to go.” A heavy Australian accent called to us. “Hey dad!” I smiled as I hugged him. “Okay, okay. To the airport we go!” my dad happily retorted. We all hugged and said our goodbyes and as we were heading to the gate Abby turned to me and screamed out of excitement. Well I guess I better get used to it. Finally after waiting in line, we boarded the plane I popped my earbuds in and started to let Ed Sheeran’s lyrics stream through my eardrums, until I finally fell into a peaceful slumber.
