Goodnight Moon.
Leaping with my faith.
Ashlynn's POV
"Ash wake up, you're going to be late for your interview!" was all I heard. Thankfully my roommate Jayci woke up at the butt crack of dawn every morning and knew what was going on with my life! I hit the ground so hard when I jumped out of my bed in hopes that I could make it to my phone interview in my advisor's office at 9AM. It was now 8:43.
"Peachy, good thing they can't see me through the phone" as I said aloud when I looked at myself in the mirror.
I rushed through my apartment to grab my keys and my purse and a cup full of food for my German Shepard, Shelly. I poured the food and then ran to my jeep in the morning heat. I hate Texas in the summer, it is seriously the worst. It gets so hot that you don't even want to go to the pool much less go outside.
----------------------------------
" Oh thank God, I didn't think you were going to make it!" my adviser said in relief as I ran inside her office out of breath!
"Am I ever late Ms.Thomas?" I sarcastically asked
She laughed in reply " No Ashlynn, you are ALWAYS ALMOST LATE..but never late".
Ms.Thomas has been my adviser for 2 years while I have been attending University with major in photography . She wishes I would also major in journalism but I'm not ballsy enough for that. The idea of putting my heart on a page and showing people scares me..a lot. Ms.Thomas was a really huge part of my support system and a big reason as to why I have made it as far as I have in my education; she believes in me! But even with all of the classes I am taking and my 4 jobs I still feel like I'm running on a treadmill--like I'm getting no where but doing so much. It is all becoming exhausting and honestly a little pointless. Due to the lack of progress in my life I decided to take a chance on something I have wanted to do for a very long time. Study abroad.
It's always something I have wanted to do, just never knew if I was totally cut out for it or not. Ever since I was a kid I had this incredible love for England; it was all just so inspiring to me at a young age. Princess Diana, Doctor Who, The Royal Family, the architecture, the accents. I was in love with a place that I've never been and this program might be my only chance to go. So what did I do? I applied for an internship as a junior assistant photographer with 'Your London Wedding Magazine' based out of London. This was an opportunity of a life time. Lord knows if I actually got it I would FLIP. Which is what the phone interview was for- to decide if I would be in London next fall or not.
-----------------------------------------
As the interview came to a close I mentioned what an honor it was to even be considered for this position. "Well Ashlynn you sound like a wonderful applicant with a bright future here with us in London" she concluded with as the call ended, " we will let you know soon"
------------------------------------------
Now it was just a waiting/praying game. Waiting for my fate-praying that my skills and experience with my photography was good enough for them.
