Debt To Be Paid

Fortunate Meeting

To think I would be nervous over getting a late night coffee with Liam Payne. Maybe it wouldn’t be too bad if I didn’t have to figure out a way to get him to sleep with me. I needed to plan out something, because I knew Liam wasn’t the type to simply pressure a girl into that sort of intimate situation. In a way that was good, since there were few guys like that nowadays, but then again bad. I wish he’d make this easier for me. I took a deep breath, walking into the glass doors of the café Liam decided we’d meet at.

I looked around, hoping to see him, but not surprised I was the first to show up. I exchanged a soft smile with a waiter as he pointed me to a free seat. I sat down, fiddling with the dress I decided to change into. I knew this wasn’t a date, but I figured I better put in the effort of impressing this boy.

The waiter asked if I wanted anything, so I settled with a cup of coffee upon telling him I was waiting for someone. He looked disappointed, too bad, I didn’t need to be getting acquainted with many people anyways. I heard the front door ring and looked up, seeing the familiar scruffy male come in, slightly out of breath. I could see traces of sweat on his forehead. Did he run down here?

Brown eyes met mine and a smile lit up on his face. My waiter came up to him and Liam pointed me out, probably informing he was supposed to be meeting with me. The boy nodded, leaving him to find his own seat and going to get a cup of coffee ready. “I’m so sorry I’m late. Did you wait long?”

I checked my phone’s time. “Actually you’re only two minutes late, so no, I didn’t.”
He let out a breath, sinking in his seat some. “I never ran so fast in my life, I think I’m out of practice.”

I gave him a curious look and he quickly explained, not even stopping whenever the waiter placed his coffee in front of him. “I use to run track back in primary school. I, uh, had some really bad health issues.”

I nodded, also taking a drink of my coffee. “You must be pretty healthy now considering you’re putting all that sugar in your coffee.”

I saw a touch of a blush appear on his face, placing the sugar bowl aside and mixed his coffee with his spoon. “I’ve picked up a bit of a sweet tooth since I’ve gotten better. I blame the boys for that one really.”

I couldn’t help but smile. He was really sweet, and not in the metaphorical sense. He cleared his throat, quickly deciding to change the subject. “That’s a nice dress you’re wearing. It makes you look cute.”

Now it was my turn to blush some. I didn’t get complimented often, so I wasn’t sure what to say. “Thanks.” I mustered, rubbing my neck some.

“So what shall we do? Should we stay here and talk, or would you rather go elsewhere?” Liam asked, sitting up straight in his seat, curious for my answer.

“Well, it feels pretty good outside, you up for a walk?” I asked.

He smiled and nodded. He stood up, holding out his arm. “Should I escort the lady out?”
“Oh, please, Liam. Don’t tease me.” I lightly slapped his arm. I offered a sweet smile upon his blush.

“How about I pay for the coffee and I’ll meet you outside?” He offered instead, smile still on his face.

I nodded, us splitting ways shortly and I made my way outside. I waited for a few seconds, looking in to see him stuck in a small line as the waiter from before struggled with the cash register up front. My eyes adjusted to my reflection in the window. I hated that reflection, seeing how I saw nothing but my mother’s face. I looked away, desperate to put my attention on something else.

My eyes connected with a small pair of blue. I blinked, turning my head some. The connection between the stare was so unreal that I immediately caught on to the familiarity of the eyes. The eyes disappeared as quickly as it came, and forgetting completely about Liam, I started walking briskly toward the area where I saw them.

I started whispering under my breath, as if the name would somehow respond. I frantically looked around. “Remi? Remi? Remi!” I practically screamed.

I saw him! I knew I did! I started walking around, the desperation in my steps making me blind to my surroundings. I barely paid attention to the peoples grunts and shouts of anger, for I was too focused on finding the eyes I knew were real.

Only I couldn’t find them.

I lost him. Again.

I sunk to my knees, feeling the tears coming to my eyes as the pain in my heart shook like no other. I saw the stares and concerns coming from the people around me and I quickly got myself together. Remembering Liam, I stood, gently touching my face. No evidence of tears were there, thankfully, so I walked back to the café. It was a short walk, and mere seconds after I stood where I was waiting for him at before, he walked out the door. “Miss me?” He grinned, coming to my side.

The act from before quickly took over and I rolled my eyes. “Oh, please… Let’s go” I started walking ahead, letting him follow quickly behind.

Even if I was putting up an act for him. I had to get my shit together. Face it, he’s not here, not outside anyways. That bastard knew better than to let him roam around anyways. I turned my head, offering a smile at Liam. No love was there, no interest in his personal life was in my mind, he was a target, a victim. Nothing more, so don’t go hoping for more!

“You want your brother back, right?” Simon asked, the most crooked smile plastered on his face. “Don’t refuse the offer, Little Julie. You give me what I want, and I’ll give you full custody of your little brother Remi.”

I had to do this. I had to stay strong. For my little brother. To get him back. To get him away from that crummy bastard Simon Cowell!

Notes

Yep, it's been about two weeks since I've updated. So sorry! I hope this story is getting a little less confusing and a little more intriguing.

So what should you look out for?

What do Remi and Julie have to do with Simon Cowell?

Where is their mother?

Why is Mother Julie hated upon so much?

Is Little Julie's plan to go after Liam going to work?

Will Liam, or any boy from that matter, find out what's going on?
