Lily Forest moves to Virginia, because her father dies in a car crash, and her family want to get away from the bad memories. Soon she meets a boy named Harry Styles and his friend Louis, Zayn, and Niall. Harry chases the new girl but she plays hard to get, determined to find a good boy friend. Her previous one, Trevor, took her virginity and cheated on her.

Once at school she also meets a boy named Jake. At a party a few night after getting to town, Jake tries to take advantage of her at a party; Harry saves her and it starts a terrible rival. It is brought to light that Harry runs a gang, he both feared and respected and owns a Bowling Alley in which they do their gang business.

Harry tells Lily about his gang and she is discouraged at first but finds she has strong feelings for him. Eventually they have their first kiss at Niall's party and it leads to them racing to the car, and to Harry's house; where he assumes she is going to go all the way with him. But there she tells him about her ex's.

Harry is upset by this and the two drift a part, Lily and Louis have a brief thing. But it ends when Harry and Lily discover they have legit feelings for one another. Harry asks Lily to be his and she accepts.

At a drug deal a few weeks later, Lily meets Josh, an innocent appearing boy who likes her very much. They become good friends but Josh has feelings for Lily that she doesn't return. Lily also reveals her problems with anorexia that Harry helps her through. Lily learns that his dad lives in new York and runs a mafia while his mom stays away until his dad visits.

But a huge fight brings them to not talking for up to two weeks.
In that two weeks Lily's mom gets a boyfriend and he is a total creep, he molests Lily and Harry calls Harry for help after her mom blames the whole situation on her. Lily moves in with Harry.

After that, Lauren, Harry's cousin, and Liam, her boyfriend visit town. Lily and Lauren do not get along what so ever. When her trip starts feeling longer and longer, Harry starts ignoring Lily and treating her not very nice. It drives a wedge in between the two. Soon she finds herself becoming good friends with Louis.

One night, during a big fight with Harry, Lily realizes shes in deep love with him but is terrified to tell him. She dresses real sexy and dies her hair purple to impress him Needless to say it doesn't work. Lily and Louis get drunk and Lily gets in a fight with Carissa (slut who chases Harry.) Harry yells at her and she ends up staying the night with Louis. He reveals how much he cares about her. It brings them to be best friends.

As the story continues, Louis starts to reveal his feelings for Lily. As Jake continues to hunt down Lily and "finish what he started." A terrible night happens. Harry is called down to the Bowling Alley, Lily gets a bad feeling about the whole thing but everyone tells her to calm down and wait. As she demands an answer from Perri (Zayn's girlfriend and her best friend.) it is revealed a gang fight had gone down and Harry's rookie gang member had killed two of Jake's men. As Harry and the rest of the gang members are down stairs discussing what to do about
an unfamiliar man by the name of Steve holds Perri, Lily and Rae (Niall's girlfriend and Lily's other best friend.)

He rapes Lily and before he can kill her to get his revenge for Jake on Harry on Liliy, Louis rescues her. He comforts her and the incident brings them a lot closer.

When the next night comes around, Harry tells Lily that Lauren is staying so Liam can join the gang. Louis was kicked out of the gang because he told Harry he was going to take Lily form him. Lily gets mad and goes to Lily. They both agree that she should go to the doctors to get tests from being raped. All of the tests come back negative and after the huge blow out with Harry, Lily goes back to Louis's to hang out.

They get drunk and soon Louis is kissing her and they a little make out session. Lily pushes him off. not wanting to cheat on Harry. Louis explodes and finally tells her he loves her and that she is just playing with him. Hurt, Lily runs back home and faces the facts that she does like Louis and that she needs to get over it so she can stop fucking him over and just let everyone be happy with her and Harry dating.

They make up and talk a little about when they want to go all the way, Lily realizes she is almost ready, the two are over fighting and agree they just want to be together.
