I usually see this in most of the stories I've read so far:

The author introduces a new character by the name of Bob. Bob does some sort of act and then he vanishes forever. Like, he is never mentioned again! You can't just bring up another character just to have another event because you don't want to end the story.. Clearing it up. Let's just say someone kidnaps the main character and gets save by her love.. then the person who kidnaps never shows up in the story ever again. I mean, he should want something else since they didn't get what they want. Trust me, you can find it stupid but I've read a story like this. I'm. Not. Even. Lieing.

Also, don't make the character list long as eff. That means, don't add unneeded characters in it too. Like add the local Starbucks worker on the list? Come on. Keep the most important characters there. For my story 'A Terrible Fortune', I only have three people there. Harry, Zayn, and Perrie.

Lastly, do NOT add this in your character description of a person:

Maria Summers [picture]: 19 years old, Harry's girlfriend soon to be.
Harry Styles [picture]: 21 years old, loves Maria with all his heart and soon to be boyfriend of Maria

That TOTALLY ruins the whole excitement for a story. Be honest, you wouldn't read a story if you read those exact words.

Oh and, most importantly, when writing a characters description.. do not write it first person P.O.V.. I know I have a story like that but I don't really want to continue it anymore. Most of us want to know the characters throughout the story itself.
