All because of a rose
Reality check
Next morning I woke to the smell of bacon and... "waffles! " I moaned as they were my favorite.
I quickly got ready and made my way towards the kitchen to see my mum slavering over the hot stove, while my dad sat at the table reading the daily newspaper.
"Goodmorning sweetheart. " my dad said looking up from the newspaper.
I nodded his way as I looked around the familiar setting, it was just like the old times, till...
My mum turned around noticing my vacant stare, "honey? What about you just sit down and have some of these waffles without bacon, just the way you like it." She said wrapping her arm around me to guide me towards the table.
"And I also think skipping school today will be a good idea." She added as she sat down next to my father.
I slowly took a bite and nodded no "I understand what your thinking, but I just need to move on with all this drama."
My dad layed down his paper before he spoke" I agree with your mother. I don't think you see yourself."
I felt like they didn't want me to move on, and my patients was running out due to lack of sleep.
"Mum, dad. I'm so fucking tired of all this!" I shouted, leaving surprised looks around the table.
I took in air slowly, "Look, I'm sorry about what I just said. I just did not really sleep well last night and now that reality is hitting me..."I stopped before I could cry.
My mum came over to my side and held me in her arms. "Shhh, shhhhhh, it's alright. "
That's when I decided maybe skipping school was not a bad idea after all. "I'm going to skip today. " I whispered in tears.
"That sounds like a perfect idea. But I think you should invite Lucas over tonight, since your father and I are leaving in about an hour, back to Africa."
I nodded, "Lucas won't mind, he'll bring my homework over anyways. "
"That sounds good, I don't want you to be all by yourself dealing with Celia's matters, and knowing Lucas is with you, is a lot better then you by yourself. " my dad said getting up and cleaning so that they would not be late.
"Here let me help you, guys." I volenteered.
"Ohhh no you don't! " my parents said at the same time.
"What about you go call Lucas and tell him the plan and then come meet with us when we leave. " my mum said.
"Okay. " while I went to go get my phone from my room.
After about two rings, Lucas answered, and agreed with collecting my homework in each of my classes and coming over later.
I then went out to say my good byes to my parents.
"Good bye mummy and daddy." I said like I used to when I was little, while hugging them each closely tight.
"Good bye sweetie. " my mum said as she let go of the hug.
"Be safe, honey." my father followed after as he let go of the hug and got into the car and started the engine
My mum waved as I waved back.
I stood watching their car dissappear down the road as I crossed my arms from the slow swirling wind of the soon coming fall.
"Please hurry." I whispered.
