All because of a rose
The stare
Next day
I woke up with left over tear streaks on my face from last night as I remembered myself crying myself to sleep.
-Flashback-
“What are you going to be when you grow up little sis?” Celia asked me as she painted my nails a bright pink.
“A princess!” I yelled excitingly looking at my finished nails.
Celia looked at me for a second then gave me the biggest smile ever “I know you will be.”
“Celia?” I asked as I thought of our mum and dad.
“Yes?”
“Why do mommy and daddy travel so much?” I asked.
“Ummm, well mum and dad are missionaries. They travel to help people who need help.”
She replied back.
“Why do they like doing that?” I asked.
Celia thought for a while before she answered, “They wanted to follow their dreams.”
“Ohh, so I can be a princess then?” I asked
“Ha-ha, yes silly. Anything you dream of will come true. All you have to do is believe in your heart.” She said as she pointed to my heart.
-End of flashback-
Today was going to be hard…very hard.
First I have school then the planning of my sisters’ funeral.
I got out of bed and got dressed, skipping breakfast since I felt like anything I would eat would just be wasted.
I got my car keys and headed out to my car and drove off to school.
I dreaded going to school today since everyone was going to be watching my every move to see if I would break down.
Everyone knew about what happened already since news traveled faster than light in this small town.
I even expected the teachers would be saying something to me as Celia was one of the top students in LyWood High.
Everyone knew Celia since she was the easiest person to talk to when you felt lonely or upset.
She was also one of the prettiest girls at this school, so she was also a boy magnet.
Of course I never got any of her genes, instead of bright sky blue eyes I got crappy green eyes that never sparkled like hers when she laughed.
She even had the natural athletic ability, unlike me who cannot even do a cartwheel, even though she took hours of her life trying her almighty to teach me how, only ending up just smiling at me and saying “someday”.
I parked into the school’s parking lot and got out as I l felt everyone’s eyes on me.
I walked into the school going straight for my locker with my head down, so I wouldn't have to talk to anyone or answer any unanswered questions.
I got to my locker and finally found a soothing face, no other then my best friend Lucas.
“Thought you would need this.” He said as he passed me a red box with a half-smile.
I grabbed it and opened it, “thanks.” I said with a small smile as I popped one in my mouth.
“You always know what to give me, when I’m feeling bad.” I said as I chewed the orange gummy bear in my mouth.
“I’m sorry.” He said as he looked at me while I opened my locker and grabbed my books.
“Lucas, please.” I said as I felt a lump in my throat.
I did not want to be reminded of anything of what happened from yesterday, all I just wanted to do was forget…but that could not be ignored.
He came up to me and gave me a hug and that’s when I broke, I didn't care if there was students still in the hallway or that I was soaking his shirt with my tears.
“It’s going to be okay.” He said as he patted my back while he let me cry in his chest.
“Lucas… I don’t want her to be gone.” I cried.
“I know, I know.” He said assuring.
I looked up at him and realized that my face was probably red and blotchy and looked back down quickly before he could see.
“Crap, this day could not get any worse.” I said as I tried to calm my redness off my face.
“God, Rose, you look fine.” He said as he tried to make me feel better.
“Ha-ha, no I don’t. I feel like a huge mess! I should have never gone to school today.” I said as I looked through his arms that were still around me.
That’s when I saw him…
Not Lucas, but someone I have never seen before standing at the lockers on the other side of the hallways staring at us.
“Rose, do you want me to drop you off at your house?” Lucas asked me, making me come back into reality.
“Ah, yes, I mean no…” I said as I looked at Lucas then back at the strange person, but he was gone.
“Are you sure, Rose, because you’re kind of looking pale there?” he asked me again.
“Yes, I’m positive.” I said assuring.
“Plus I need to face reality, what’s pass is pass. I need to start over.” I said as I picked up my books and said good bye to Lucas as I tried to hurry before he asked more questions.
“Rose, if you need to go home, I’m here…okay?” he yelled as I walked off fast.
“Okay, Lucas, I will remember that!” I yelled, kind of feeling bad ditching him, although if I have of stayed there I would of broke down even more…
