Broken
Chapter 33
I had woken the next morning incredibly tired. It seemed as if the daylight was shining all around me, not just from my small bedroom window. I let out a small groan before squeezing my eyes shut, turning my head further into my pillow to block out the light. I know that I haven't been home for awhile, but I do know that my pillow isn't this hard. I slowly lift my head up before rubbing the sleep out of my eyes. I blink a few times before realizing that I was still in the living room, and the hard pillow was actually Harry's chest. I feel the pink rush to my cheeks after I recall last nights events. I must have fallen asleep some time during the second movie, Harry's favourite movie. A small smile makes it's way to my lips as I bring my attention over to the sleeping boy beside me. His lips are slightly parted and his chestnut curls lay messily over his forehead. I gently run my fingers through his unruly hair, listening to the soft snores that leave his pink lips. As I continuously massage his scalp, a thought suddenly dawns on me. It's Christmas.
"Harry," I whisper, smiling from ear to ear. "Harry, wake up."
I watch as his eyes begin to flutter, his warm arms slipping from around my body to stretch out above him. A small whine comes from his parted lips, a yawn followed directly after. "It's too early." He mumbles, his voice thick with sleep, before squishing his face back into the pillow.
"Harry, it's Christmas." I whisper once again, smiling from beside him. I watch as his emerald eyes widen in surprise, his body rolling over to face me.
"Right," He pauses, his eyes connecting with mine as he begins to sit up straight. "Merry Christmas, Emma." His eyes light up with humour.
"Merry Christmas." I smile as he leans down to kiss me, a smile already present on his lips.
"Let's go wake your mum, shall we?" He says, still smiling as he looks into my eyes. I nod before standing up, reaching down to place my hand in his. I feel myself start to blush as I look down and notice my unbottoned jeans. I watch as a smirk takes over his plump lips, his bright eyes still trained on me. I quickly make myself presentable, before dragging Harry towards the staircase.
"Mom?" I call up, watching Harry run his slim fingers through his curls.
"In here, sweetie!" My brows raise up in surprise as I hear her voice calling from the kitchen. It's just now my nose fills with the scent of fresh coffee and bacon. I scrunch my nose up in disgust, feeling Harry's eyes on me.
He gently nudges my side, following me into the kitchen. "What's the nasty look for?" I settle myself into one of the island stools, watching Harry's lean body slide in beside mine. I watch as he smiles at my mother, mumbling her a good morning and a Merry Christmas.
"I hate bacon." I shrug, watching his eyes widen and lips part in surprise.
"I know, how can someone hate bacon?" I hear my mother tease from across the kitchen island. I stick out my tongue, my eyes landing on the hot pot of coffee sitting on the counter.
"You're insane." Harry's brows furrow together, a small smile making it's way to his lips as he places a hand on my knee.
I smile and lean my head against his shoulder, scooting our stools closer together. I bring my gaze up to my mother, watching her separate eggs, home fries, toast, sausages, and bacon onto three separate plates. She pushes two of the filled plates towards us, mine without bacon; of course, before pouring the steaming coffee into 3 separate mugs. I reach over for mine and Harry's, putting just enough milk and sugar in the both of ours. I barely notice my mom taking a seat across from us, the mouth watering food being quite the distraction for me.
"So Emma, Abbey will be coming home around noon." My mother grinned at me from across the table, finding my own smile matching her own.
Abbey is my older sister. She's 3 years older than me and is finishing up at a University that is much farther than mine. Unfortunately, we're never home at the same time because each of our Uni's have different holiday times. Despite our small age difference, Abbey and I have always been very close to one another. We text here and there but we haven't been able to properly see each other much, so I'm excited to be spending Christmas with her and the two others I love most. I'm a bit nervous because I was never much of a dater through out high school, so for my sister to meet my first serious boyfriend kind of excites me. Abbey was much more wild than I was, she loved to party during her high school years. We spent one year of high school together, and me being known as her sister to the older grades was quite interesting since we were polar opposites. She was in her senior year while I was just a freshman.
"That's only in a few more hours! Let's wait to open up our gifts until she comes." I smiled, excitement running through my body. I was nearly done with my meal when I noticed Harry picking at his food, an unreadable expression written on his face.
"Harry, are you okay?" He nods, eyes trained on the plate in front of him.
I feel my brows furrow together in confusion as I stand from my stool to bring my dish to the sink. I study Harry, his face much paler than it was only minutes ago. Before I can say anything, his tall body stands from the small stool and a smile forces it's way onto his pink lips.
"What do you want to do?" His voice slightly unsteady, before clearing his throat.
I watch as he paces towards the waste basket, clearing off his full plate before setting his dish into the sink. He turns towards me, looking at me with wary eyes. I smile as I step towards him, snaking my arms around his neck. His warm arms wrap around my waist, his emerald eyes staring down into mine.
"Don't be nervous, I love you and my family will too." My smile widens as I burry my face into his shoulder, breathing in his scent. Moments pass and I feel him nod, resting his chin on the top of my head. His body is tense around me, and I find myself smiling at his adorable nerves. I pull back slightly and look up at him, stepping on my tip toes to kiss him. I feel him slightly lower his head, allowing me to step back to my original height. I run my fingers through his curls while his tongue dips into my mouth, moving with ease. I gently tug at the roots of his hair, earning a low groan from him. I smile against his lips, drawing back slightly.
"We can watch more movies, make snow angels, anything you want, but just give me one second." I smirk, stepping out of his embrace and heading towards the stairs.
"Where are you going?" I hear him ask from across the room, his long legs striding towards me. His face holds an unreadable expression, and I watch as his adam's apple bobs nervously in his throat.
"I need to finish wrapping one more gift," I smile, wrapping my small arms around his neck, the first step making us almost the same height. I watch him nod his head, a perfect smile playing along his plump lips. "Sit down, watch TV, do something," I smile. "Just not what you did last night," A small giggle escaped my lips, a smirk starting to form on his. "I'll be back soon." I peck his lips and pull out of his embrace, looking back at his beautiful smile as I run up the last few steps.
Harry's P.O.V
After a few passing minutes, I sat down frozen in my spot on the couch, worry running through my veins. I'm such a fucking idiot, how did I possibly think I could ever avoid this day from coming. Emma means the absolute fucking world to me, there is no way I'm allowing this to get in the way of our relationship. I can feel my foot tapping repeatedly on the hardwood floor beneath me, but I can't seem to stop myself. My nerves are going through the roof right now and I feel like my body is going to shake uncontrollably at any second. I begin to knot my fingers in my lap, something Emma does when she's nervous. Fuck, my Emma. I squeeze my eyes shut and rest my head against the couch. I need to calm down. Everything will be okay if I just calm down.
