Broken
Chapter 11
Harry's P.O.V
"Emma... is that you?"
Why the fuck did I just ask that. Of course it was her, I knew that body. What was she doing all the way up here? Since I went to high school with her, many of the students including myself and her, lived in the neighbourhood not far from it. Confusion took over my thoughts when I realized she was a good hour away from home. When I finally brought my gaze back to her, she was frozen on the spot. Fuck, I completely forgot she probably wants nothing to do with me. I squeezed my eyes shut and slowly rolled the window down. When I opened my eyes, she was stumbling towards me.
"You..." She began. "You asshole!" Man, she was drunk.
"Please get in the car."
"No!" Her face was twisted in a cold glare, her index finger pointing right at me.
"Get in the car now." I said more sternly, my jaw clenching together as I focused my eyes on the road ahead. I heard the door open and I turned my head to look over at her just as she was putting on her seatbelt.
"Why the fuck were you walking alone at this time of night?" I couldn't help the anger in my voice. "Wearing.. that." I spat, nodding towards her clothes, as I let my eyes slowly run over her body. Oh how much I missed that body. She brought her hand up to the door handle but I quickly locked the doors.
"Emma, look at me."
After a couple of torturous seconds, she turned her head from looking out of the window and I could see the sadness in her eyes.
"Harry, why?" Her voice was barely audible.
I broke eye contact as I turned off the side of the road and began to drive again. She let out a small sigh and the car became silent.
"Where exactly am I driving to?" I looked over at her once I hit a red light.
"The Brock University campus." She mumbled quietly. Thank fucking God we were at a red light or else I would have slammed the breaks from shock.
"You're at Brock?" I asked, my voice coming out weaker than I meant. She nodded in confusion as I slowly started to drive once the light switched to green.
"I am too." I brought my gaze back to her as I watched her expression change. I couldn't tell if it was a mix of happiness, shock, or disappointment. She kept quiet and I couldn't stand the silence any longer.
"I was scared." The words came out before I could even stop myself. I pulled into the campus parking lot and turned the car engine off. Still, nothing. Fuck, when you're drunk aren't you supposed to speak your mind? I sighed in frustration and stepped out of the car. As I started walking towards the building I heard quick footsteps come from behind me.
"Why were you scared?" A breathless voice asked, making me stop in my tracks and turn around.
"Because I don't do relationships. I guess I started to like you and I got scared." I kept my eyes focused on her face, watching her closely.
"Well, next time you decide to leave someone hanging with no explanation at the time, make sure you don't treat her like she was the world, and most of all, don't take her virginity." She brushed past me, making her way through the revolving doors. I quickly caught up as she was waiting for the elevators and reached for her hand. She pulled away.
"You have every right to be angry with me but please listen to me.." I begged, as we stepped into the small space.
"Honestly Harry, if it weren't for this random encounter, would you have even bothered contacting me again?" She spat. Aside from her harsh tone, I could hear the hope in her voice.
"I haven't stopped thinking about you." I spoke slowly, watching as the number of the floors increased. "There's no excuse for ignoring you like I did, but you need to know that I never wanted to."
"Then why did you?" She asked as the elevator doors started to open. I pressed my lips together and finally looked down at the beautiful brown eyed girl I've missed so much.
"I'll see you around, Emma."
I kept my eyes on hers until the doors shut once again. I slammed my fist against the wall as I let my anger take over me. "I truly never wanted to.." I cried out like a desperate idiot. The only part of me that held onto some type of hope was the fact that we were not only attending the same college, but now living in the same building.
