In that moment, the entire world stopped. Did I hear him correctly? Did he just say Louis was in an accident? I swallowed hard. “Is he...” I trailed off looking down at the floor.

“It's bad, Mel.” I could hear the pain in Niall's voice, he was hurting but trying to hide it for my sake. Niall was my best friend. The best friend I could ever ask for. Granted I met him because of Louis, but he was still my best friend. When everything went to shit with Louis he was there by my side every step of the way.

I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his torso. “He's gonna be alright, right?” I asked nuzzling my face into his chest as he gave me a squeeze.

“We don't know...” He rubbed his hands on my back. “I'm on my way to the hospital now...if you want to come...”

I hesitated, should I go or not? After everything he's done to me? Why should I drop everything and come running when something goes wrong for him? I almost said no, until I heard Camden walking down the stairs. I let go of Niall and sighed. “We'll come...just give me a minute.” Niall nodded and I walked over to Cam.

“Come on buddy, lets go get dressed.” I grabbed his hand and turned to go back upstairs.

“How come uncle Niall looked so sad?” Cam looked at me with curious eyes while I helped him get his jeans on.

I paused, placing my hands on his shoulders. This was going to be the hardest thing I've ever had to do. “You know I love you right? More than anything in the whole world?” Cam nodded and I kissed his nose. “We're gonna go to the hospital...something happened to your daddy.”

I watched his heartbreak as his eyes fell, swelling with tears. I pulled him into me and rubbed his back. “He's gonna be okay, Cam I promise. He just got into accident.” I lied. I didn't know if he was going to be okay, I didn't know anything. I just hoped and prayed that my son wasn't going to lose his father. “Come on, lets get your shirt and shoes on so we can go see him.”

After a silent trip to the hospital we all made our way up to Louis' room. I stopped, seeing all of his friends and family sitting outside of the room; waiting. Harry's eyes were red and puffy as if he had just finished crying. Zayn's face was nuzzled into Perrie, just looking for some comfort. Liam sat with his head in his hands while Louis' mom walked out of the room, crying.

Jay turned and looked at me and Cam, a small smile crept across her face as Cam walked over to her and hugged her legs. I followed him, pulling Jay into a hug, trying to keep myself from crying. “He hasn't woke up yet...the doctors said it would be best if we all go in and talk to him...I'm sure he would love it if you went in.”

Wrong, I thought. Louis wanted nothing to do with me. I wanted nothing to do with him, but I nodded anyways. “Come on Cam, lets go see daddy.” I grabbed his hand and walked into the room.

Louis was lying in the bed, hooked up to a bunch of monitors. His face was swollen, he had scratches and bruises all over. Niall was right, it was pretty bad. I wasn't even sure if I should let Cam see him like this, but it was too late. Cam had crawled into the chair left next to his bed and grabbed his hand.
“Daddy?” he asked, waiting for a reply. “I love you daddy.” He frowned, settling himself in the chair.

Louis POV:

I opened my eyes, where was I? I scanned the room and saw Melody sitting in a chair with Cam curled up in her lap. She looked horrible, like she hadn't slept in days. What was she doing here anyways? After our fight I didn't think she would ever look at me again.

I tried to speak but my throat was too dry. I coughed and she looked over at me, her eyes wide. “Louis! You're awake!” she stood up, setting Cam back down in the chair. “Do you need anything?”

“W..water?” I stuttered. She guided a straw into my mouth and I took a long sip. “What happened?” I asked.

“You were in an accident...Louis you've been in a coma for three days...” she sighed rubbing her hands through her hair.

I remembered now. I remembered crashing the car, I remember being brought into the hospital and I remember bits and pieces of people talking to me. I remember being able to hear them, but not being able to reply.

“Have you been here the whole time?” I asked.

Melody nodded, pointing at Cam. “He wouldn't leave...your mum and I took turns holding him while he waited for you to wake up.” she smiled a bit looking over at him and then back at me. “I'm not going to fight with you, not now. But I want you to listen to me. You are done terrorizing me. You are done treating me the way you do. You will not cut me down anymore and you will not break your promises to your son. I don't care what you think of me, but I will not sit back and watch you destroy this little boy. You mean absolutely everything to him, do you understand that? You are his father. I don't care if you wanted him or not, you've got him. Now grow up and start acting like the father I know you can be.” And with that she left the room, going to get my mum.

I looked over at Cam sleeping in the chair, so small, so innocent. What was I doing? This was supposed to be keeping him safe, not hurting him. The only person that was supposed to get hurt was me...
