Chapter 24
Arianna's P.O.V.
"Come on Tyler pick up." I paced around the living room, dialing his number for the 8th time when it went to voicemail again.
"What's up with you?" Rosalie asked.
The seven of us (with Bella) were in the living room watching TV. Well they were watching TV. The moment I got back from school, I dropped everything in my room and started calling Tyler.
"Tyler won't pick up!" I growled in frustration. I need to know! Taylor was so sad and quiet the whole day. I asked her if she wanted to talk about it and she said no. But by the end of the day, she begged me to ask Tyler about the 'situation'. She didn't want to ask him, herself because she said that she couldn't take it if he is her ex-neighbor.
Now I'm just praying that he isn't the one because.....I think I'm starting to have feelings for him. I still like Edward but don't I deserve to be happy at least? I mean he has Bella, so I should have someone too.
"Why? What's the problem? What do you need to tell him? Is it an emergency?" Rosalie fired at me.
"Yes! It is an emergency." I growled.
"Okay. Geez. I was just asking." Rosalie put her hands up surrendering.
I sighed. "I'm sorry Rose. I just really need to talk to him and I called him like 10 times but he's not answering."
I flopped down on the couch beside Emmett. But not too close.
I miss the old times when it's not awkward between us. When I can just go up to him and wrap my arms around him or sit on his lap like a little sister would do. I miss those times a lot. We haven't gotten the time to talk about what happened.
Edward looked at me, then looked at the space between us. Clearly, he noticed the space and awkwardness between Emmett and I.
"How about you call that friend of his? Alexander." Alice spoke up.
My eyes brightened. "Of course. I forgot all about him."
I dialed his number. Come on pick up.
"Hello?" Alexander's voice sounded muffled through the phone.
"Hey Alex." I chirped.
"Hey how are you?"
"I'm fine thanks. You?" I replied.
"I'm fine. So what's up?" he asked.
"Uh well. I just need to know where Tyler is. I've called him so much times but he won't pick up." I complained.
He laughed. "You didn't know?"
"Didn't know what?" I asked confused.
"He got a new phone and number." he exclaimed.
"What? He got a new phone and he didn't even tell me?" I frowned. How can he not tell me that he got a new phone?
"He just got it today." he explained.
"Oh. Then why wasn't he at school today?" I questioned.
"He said that he wasn't feeling well and stuff." he mumbled.
I narrowed my eyes. I have a feeling that he was lying but I didn't mention anything. Speaking to Tyler is more important than that.
"Okay so what's his new number?" I asked quickly.
"Uh....it's *Some fake random number*" he replied.
"Kay thanks bye." I hung up before he could say another word.
Everyone was staring at me open mouthed.
"What?" I scrunched up my face in confusion.
"That was kind of rude Arianna. Being rude is not you at all." Jasper replied after a few moments of silence.
I looked down in shame. "It's an emergency. I'll apologize to him later."
They nodded and went back to watching TV.
I started dialing his number when my phone rang. The number flashed through the screen. Oh now he calls -.-
"Hello?" I asked pretending to not know who it was.
"Uh hi Arianna..." his voice sounded nervous through the phone.
"Yes? May I know to whom am I speaking to?" I asked sounding innocently puzzled. I smiled when my 'siblings' gave me knowing and amused looks.
"Oh sorry! It's me Tyler." he quickly apologized.
"Oh! Tyler! We haven't talked in a while. How come your number is different?" I asked pretending to be surprised.
"I got a new phone because I lost my old one." he explained.
"Okay so what's up?" I asked casually. I have to think of a way to ask him about his childhood and stuff without sounding like a nosy stalker and without making him suspicious.
"Uh well.....ummm....I was just wondering if....ummm...uhh" he stuttered trying to produce proper and real words. I think I know where this is headed and it seems that my family knows too.
Emmett, Jasper, Rosalie, Alice and Bella looked pleased. Edward looked.....angry and frustrated. Can he possibly be.....jealous?
No. He's infatuated with Bella. I dismissed that thought.
He cleared his throat and asked in a more steady and confident voice. "Arianna, I was just wondering if you'd like to go to dinner with me tonight."
I smirked. I knew it. "Tonight? Sure why not." I said happily. From the corner of my eye I saw Edward visibly frowning, clearly upset by this idea.
"Really?" he asked sounding pleasantly surprised.
"Yes of course." I smiled.
"Okay I'll pick you up by 6." he replied.
Alright. I'll be ready by then." I answered.
"Alright wear something fancy." he said cheerfully.
"Okay bye. See you tonight."
"Bye see you." I could hear the smile in his voice which made me smile wider.
I hung up the phone and met the stares of my happy family. Excluding Edward of course.
Alice and Rosalie immediately stood up.
"Come on we have to get you ready." Alice chirped, dragging me upstairs.
"You have to look absolutely gorgeous!" Rosalie excitedly said.
I raised my eyebrow at her questioningly.
"Not that you're not right now. I meant you just need to look more gorgeous." she quickly added.
I laughed when we reached my/Edward's room. "I didn't mean it that way Rose. I meant why are you so excited? You don't really like humans. Especially human males."
She smiled. "Because I think he's good for you. He's not like other guys. He's an absolute gentleman."
I smiled. "I know." I replied proudly.
We spent the next few hours with Alice and Rose helping me get ready.
By 5:55, we we're finally done.

"You look beautiful Arianna!" Alice squealed.
Rosalie smiled warmly at me and said in a teasing tone. "Wow. I think my self-esteem just dropped."
I laughed. "Thanks guys." I gave both of them hugs.
The doorbell rang interrupting our girl stuff.
I looked at the clock. 6 o'clock. Right on time.
I heard Emmett inviting Tyler in.
"Arianna is upstairs getting ready, although I think she should be done by now since they been up there for hours." Jasper said.
Tyler just laughed. I heard the discomfort in his laugh. I listened to Jasper's thoughts. 'Edward stop. You're making him nervous by the cold stare.'
I looked at everyone from Jasper's perspective. Ah! There they are. Emmett flexing his muscles trying to scare Tyler and Edward giving him cold stares.
"Come on let's go before Tyler looses his nerves and runs." I whispered.
They cast me questioning glance and I explained.
They shared a sound of understanding.
We went down the stairs soundlessly. Finally we reached the bottom of the stairs.
Emmett questioned Tyler while flexing his muscles. Yup that's Emmett for you. Trying to scare away his 'lil sister's date. And Edward just stared at him frostily.
I coughed and they all turned their heads to look at me.
The look on their faces were priceless.
"You look beautiful." Tyler complimented after snapping out of his dazed state. The rest of the boys snapped out of their dazed state right after he said that and nodded in agreement.
I looked down pleased. "Thank you."
We walked together towards the door and my family followed.
"Don't stay out too late sis." Emmett said smiling.
"Yeah yeah don't worry I won't."
There was a chorus of "Have fun." Before I got into Tyler's silver Porsche.
I took one last glance at the door before getting in.
I met Edward's eyes and they were filled with sadness, pain, jealousy and another emotion I could not comprehend.
I turned my head and dismissed any thought of him.
Tonight it will just be me and Tyler.
This is my chance to find out the truth.
