Chapter 18
Arianna's P.O.V.
"Whatcha doin?" I flopped down beside Jasper on the couch.
"Nothing." he sighed. "I'm so bored. There's nothing to do. Emmett isn't here and neither is Rose. Alice is doing something. Edward is busy with Bella and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want to do anything either." he pouted.
"Awww you look so cute when you're sad." I cooed pinching his cheeks.
He batted my hand away gently.
"I want to play ball but there won't be a storm all week. Possibly even months." he grumbled.
"I can help." I grinned. "I wouldn't want my brother being sad and bored."
"How can you help? It's not like you can control the weather or something." he said confusingly.
He had clearly forgotten my powers and I find that offensive. How can anyone forget powers like mine? Carlisle said that my power doesn't exist. Well until I came along. If I tell them about me being able to control the elements, they would totally be amazed.
"Really Jasper? Really?" I raised my eyebrow.
He stared at me for a moment then a 'ding' went off in his head and he remembered. "Oh right! You can control the weather!"
"Smart." I rolled my eyes.
"Sorry, I forgot. I have so much in my head. Can you please please please make it all stormy and stuff." he begged.
"Yeah of course. You don't have too beg sweetie." I ruffled his hair and stood up. " Come on let's go tell Alice."
I took his hand and we ran upstairs to Alice's and Jasper's bedroom.
I opened the door, releasing Jasper's hand.
There was Alice, lying on the bed reading a fashion magazine.
"Hey Ally, you wanna play ball tonight?" I asked sitting on the edge of the bed.
She put the magazine away and replied, "Yeah sure. You gonna make it stormy?"
"Yup." I answered popping the 'p'.
"Did you tell Edward yet?" she asked.
"Oh I forgot. Let's go tell him." I got off the bed and took Jasper's and ALice's hand and ran with them to mine and Edward's room.
I was about to turn the doorknob when I heard shuffling, a gasp and giggling.
Ugh what are they doing in there? I thought disgusted.
I became hesitant to open the door.
Alice stopped my hand from turning the knob. She knocked softly on the door.
Edward's velvety voice called out quietly. "Come in."
Alice opened the door and skipped towards Edward and Bella happily.
Jasper was shocked.
I was hurt. Although I tried to act nonchalant my heart felt like it was being pierced by needles.
There she is.
On Edward's lap.
With his arms wounded tightly around her waist.
One of his hands covering hers.
Her head leaning on Edward's chest.
His other hand is stroking her hair.
'That should be me! I should be the one on his lap. I should be the one he's cuddling with not Bella! If Edward just chose to kill her on her first day, this would've never happened. they wouldn't be together.' I thought angrily.
"It sounded like you were having Bella for lunch and we thought maybe you could share." Alice said interrupting my horrifying thought.
Bella stiffened, but Edward just chuckled. "I don't think I have enough to share."
Alice sat down on the carpet. Jasper remained standing by the door, cautious.
I leaned casually on the wall. I knew that Edward didn't tell Bella that I share a room with Edward. I'm sure that he claimed this room his when he gave Bella a tour. Well that won't last.
"We really need to get a bed here Eddie. So I can relax in my room when you're hogging the couch." I said trying to be nonchalant with success.
Edward opened his mouth to speak but Bella spoke up before he could utter a single word.
"I thought this is Edward's bedroom?" she asked confused.
"Eddie how dare you! This room is mine as it is yours." I said glaring at him playfully.
I averted my gaze to Bella. "He's very possessive. He thinks everything is his. This room is also mine. Edward and I share a bedroom." I explained.
I saw jealousy and uncertainty flash in her eyes and I was satisfied.
But that was before I saw the pain in her eyes.
I concentrated. I found out a few days ago that if I concentrate hard enough, I can use the power of the elements to read someone's current thoughts. Only Emmett and Rosalie know.
'They share a bedroom? I knew this is too good to be true. What chance do I have against Arianna? She's beautiful, smart, popular,nice (well to everyone except me), gorgeous, graceful, sporty, glamorous and perfect. And I'm just....ordinary. Nothing compared to Arianna. Arianna is probably the most beautiful girl I have ever seen and that includes stars. And also.....I've seen the way Edward look at her. The way he is around her. It's just so.....natural. And he seems so happy to be always around her.'
I never expected this at all. All of the things she said about me is very flattering and I feel so bad that I was mean to her. But what surprised me the most is her last thought. I never noticed how he looks at me or how he moves around me. It's weird because I always notice every single thing....ok well not everything, but most things.
Bella didn't answer and I felt really bad that I changed my mind. I'm not gonna try to make her jealous.
"It's a pain sharing a room with an egotistical jerk." I rolled my eyes. "He's too curious. Like my first day here. Every time I stand up or move or whatever, he asks what I'm doing. He was soooo annoying. Still is actually."
"I am not annoying!" he argued.
"Yes you are!"
He opened his mouth to argue but I cut him off. "Don't say anything. You are annoying and you know it."
He closed his mouth and pouted.
He took his arms off Bella and put her beside him and crossed his arms. He was still pouting while he did that.
"Anyway." Alice intervened. "Arianna is gonna make it stormy tonight so we can play ball. You in?"
Edward seemed excited for a second. Then looked at Bella uncertainly.
"You can bring Bella of course." Alice said before Edward could refuse.
Jasper's eyes widened but I was expecting it. Alice would do anything to get Edward to play.
"Ok I'm in." Edward replied.
Bella looked confused. "Uh if it's stormy will I need an umbrella?"
We laughed.
"No you won't need an umbrella." I explained smiling.
"Oh ok."
"I'll be right back."
I walked out of the bedroom and ran to the meadow.
I need to clear my head before I go back in there.
I need to be nice to Bella.
I have to for Edward's sake.
Be strong Arianna. Be strong. I told myself.
