Chapter 3
Chapter 3:
"Parissss!" Casper slurred and tackled me in a hug. "You look like you need a drink! Here, Niall! Come get Paris a drink!" Casper screamed.
"Uh, no need to Niall, I'm good." I tried to tell him no but he still made his way over.
"I know you don't want this, but she's not going away unless you take a sip." Niall warned me with a whisper to the ear.
"Do I have to?" I didn't whine, but begged a little.
"Not unless you can tell her no, I suggest you pucker up." Niall teased and handed me a red drink.
"What is this?" I looked down and smelled it, God it smelled terrible.
"Cherry vodka, it's one of Zayn's favorite." Niall shrugged and took a sip of whatever was in his cup.
"It smells gross." I commented and took another warf.
"You get over it." Niall took a little sip and made a pungent face.
"Well that face sure makes me want to drink it!" I teased.
"Oh come on, it's not that bad!" Niall laughed.
"Really cause you made it look pretty bad!" I defended.
"Alright, I'll make you a deal. You dip your tongue in and get a little slurp, and I'll get Casper to leave, and you don't have to drink any more tonight. " Niall smirked.
"Hmm..." I was debating if that was a reasonable deal.
"Oh come on, stop over thinking it!" Niall teased and brought his cup near my mouth.
"What the hell?" I dipped my tongue in and squinted at the taste.
"There ya go, see it wasn't that bad!" Niall chuckled and rubbed my back to make me feel better.
I gaged a little bit and put the cup back down. "Yes it was."
"Oh come on. Admit you want another taste." Niall laughed.
"No!" I shouted.
"Kinding." He teased.
"Niall! We need you for a second!" Some guy called from the stairs.
"What for?" He yelled back.
"It's Ky." The guy responded.
"Seriously? What's she up to now?" Niall got a bit worked up.
"Who's Ky?" I whispered tot Niall.
"My ex-girlfriend, she's a monster." He muttered.
"She's fighting some random girl. Everything was calm and then she just grabbed this girl and flung her to the wall." The guy informed. "Please just come, before the poor girl gets more injuried." The guy pleaded.
At first I thought the guy was up to no good. After all he did have a drink in his hand. But the way he talked about the poor girl seemed normal, as if he were actually concerned. God, Im such a hypocrite. My biggest fear in life is being judged, yet here I am judging a book by its cover.
"Sorry Paris, Ive really got to go." Niall turned to me.
"It's fine. Go, and save that innocent girl." I smiled and pushed him towars the stairs.
"Thanks you're the best." He gave me a quick hug before rushing through the crowd if people, towards the stairs.
Well it looks like I'm alone.
"Hey Paris, finished with this yet? It's been what, two hours? And you haven't taken one sip. Looks like my proposal was correct." Bailey snickered and made her way to me.
"Can I help you?" I tried to hold back my temper.
"Yeah, you can leave me and my friends the fuck alone and take a drink with you on your way out. You need it." She snapped.
"That's not going to happen. So is that all you wanted?"
"No. But for now it is. I just want to warn you, watch your back." She gritted.
I just laughed. Right there, right then, in her face. People started to notice now, probably cause of my obnoxious laugh.
"You and that one Harry guy are exactly the same. You try to be intimidating for no reason. Like what, do you threaten everyone that comes through that door? I didn't do anything, and it's kind of funny how you assume I'm going to be scared of you, I have absolutely no reason to be." I laughed.
Now pretty much anyone in the kitchen, dining room, or side room were watching the two of us.
"So what, you think you can just come in here and tell me I'm the same as somebody else? You don't fucking know me!" She shouted.
"And you don't know me. But watch your back cause I've got a few tricks up my sleeve." I mimicked her, wiggling my eyebrows and pretended to cast a spell on her with a 'presto' gesture before walking through the statued crowd up the stairs. Bailey just stood there, not being able to respond.
"Niall! Niall! You up here?" I called and worked my way through the long and narrow hallways.
All of a sudden i felt a cold hand on my arm, yanking me into a room. I tried to scream but I couldn't, a cotton bandana had been tied around my mouth. I couldn't see much due to the dark lighting, but I could make out two muscular figures. A frigid supstence was poured over my wrist and brought under a dim light. I actually wished I was still in complete darkness, that way I wouldn't be able to see what was yet to come. A hand in black leather gloves aggresivly scraped my wrist with sand paper, then a blade. The masked body dug the knife below my skin, dragging it along. He carved somethig in my skin before dumping more of the liquid over my skin, making it burn. A muffled scream came out. My skin burned like a gasoline tsunami in the fiery pits of hell. Blood and the chemical mixed together and dripped down my arm. But the culprits weren't done yet. They jerked me onto something soft, I assumed was a bed, and wrapped their nasty hands around me. Fortunately the bandana slipped, allowing me to scream.
"Help! Somebody help me!" I screamed before the kidnapper could silence me.
"Shut up, you worthless bitch!" A husky voice whispered in my ear and pricked the skin on the back of my neck with a knife. "Say another word and—"
Suddenly the weight on top of me had been lifted. Instead of the dreadful and sinister voice in my ear, the sound of a tormented body and broken items echoed around me. I struggled to pull myself together and get up. Something grabbed ahold of my wrist and on instincts I kneed them in the jewels. They knelt down clutching below their waist. And then I realized it wasn't one of the bulky tormenters. It was someone else. After a minute or two the body grappled me again and pushed me towards what seemed to be a door.
The bright lights in the hallway blinded me for a moment. And in those split seconds, I was shoved into yet another room. This one however was much lighter, even when the lights were off. Then the person behind me flicked the light on.
The stranger disappeared into an attached room before I could get a good look at them. I waited in the bed, looking through the collection of books and papers on the nightstand next to it.
"What are you doing?" A low voice snapped.
I swung around to see Harry. "Um, I was just looking at the books." My voice was barely audible from my awakening experience.
"Don't touch anything in here." He scolded and snatched the book from my hand. "Give me your wrist." He demanded. I cooperated and stuck my arm out for him to examin. He cringed and the markings on my wrist. "This might sting a little." Harry cleaned the, out and rubbed medicine over my gashes, sealing them with a band aid. "Turn around." He damanded. This time I was more hesitant. "I'm not going to hurt you." He promised. Taking a deep breathe i turned. Harry's large hands instantly wrapped around my neck, applying needed pressure to the bloody hole. "This will hurt a lot, it will take a bit to get used too though." He warned. A few moments later, those deep bits of hell lit up again. I squealed in pain. "You're alright, it's over now." Harry whispered. This time instead of sealing my injury right up, he placed his lips to it and kiss them, murmuring a little something to himself and then closeing it off.
Harry didn't say anything else, and either did I. It was a peaceful silence until he began packing up the first aid kit. I glanced down to see his bloody and busted knuckles.
"Stop. Let me help you." I gingerly took his hands.
"I don't need help." He grumbled and jerked his hands back.
"It's the least I can do." I attempted to reach for them.
"Just forget I helped you." Harry shot up and stormed toward the other room, with the first aid kit in hand. I sat there dumbfounded, he changes so quickly. A bittersweet that is confusing. "You can go now." He rudely stated.
"Um, okay."
I got up to go before he called me back. "Wait." I turned to face him. "Who were you talking to before you came up here?"
"Uh, Niall. But he had to stop a fight between his ex and some girl—"
"Yeah, I know that, I was there. Who did you argue with after that?" He bluntly cut in.
"Bailey, I think her name was."
"Ugh." He groaned and stormed out of the room.
What's wrong now? Seriously, what is his problem?
What better way to see what's going on than following him?
So that's exactly what I did. I left the security of that little room to go back out into that back hole to follow someone I know absolutely nothing about. Funny how you do those type of things. Those times in life where you do something and you have no idea why and it completely blows up in your face in the end.
Now which way did he go?
"Hey, Louis! Do you know where Harry went?" I spotted him at the top of the stairs.
"Why does somebody have a little requirement?" He teased.
"Ew, I'd rather go fuck my grandpa while covered in goats milk." I hissed.
"Charming. He went downstairs and took a left." His smirk slowly faded.
"Thanks!" I sweetly smiled before rushing down those steps.
Now where could he have gone? Back to the kitchen, dinning room, living room? And that's when I heard it.
"Styles, calm the fuck down. No need to get worked up about nothing." Some voice boomed from a cluster of people.
"I swear to fucking god next time I'm—" Harry barked but lowered his voice.
No wait, he didn't lower his voice, he left the room. Then I heard a piercing sound that could only belong to a braking vase or pot. Oh look who was right. I turned to the side to glance out the window when I saw the figure of Harry muttering some words to himself and smashing a flower pot to the ground, spitting on its remains.
I knew it would be uncomfortable and odd if I were to go out there. So I sat and watched. To any sobber person at this party, I would look like a drunk. Some random girl staring intently through a window at the dark sky. They wouldn't even know I didn't drink, or that there pot was now broken.
"Paris! Hey, I've been looking everywhere for you!" Niall approached.
"Hey, did you brake up the cat fight?"
"Yeah, one minute later and the poor girl would have has a broken nose." His happiness drained a little.
"Well it's good you stepped in." I tried to lighten the mood again.
"Yeah. Well anyway, a bunch of us are going to play some games. Want to join?" I don't know if he was drunk or just really excepting and excited.
"Sure, why not?" I half smiled.
"Great! They are in the living room right now. Oh, and do you by chance know where Harry is?"
"Uh, yeah. He's outside braking pots." I toned down the happiness.
"Shit. Tell them I'll be there in a minute. Go ahead and start without us." All that engery was gone and was filled with seriousness.
I nodded and walked towards the living room. I spared a glance back to find Niall comforting Harry, who was crouched with his head between his knees.
"Paris! You're playing?" Casper squealed.
"Uh I guess." I was hesitatant to her excitement, why she was so happy made me nervous.
"Great!" She somehow slured and yanked me away from the hallway to the living room.
"Ugh, you're letting her play?" Bailey snickered from her spot on the ground with the others.
"We let you play." Louis sassed.
"Fuck off." She hissed and gave him the finger.
Louis just rolled his eyes and moved over so I could have a place to sit. "This is Jack, and his twin brother Finn. They arrived pretty late."
I gave them a half smile and wave before taking a seat next to Louis.
"Where is Harry?" One of the twins asked in a thick British accent.
"Um, he's outside with Niall. They will be joining us in a little bit."
"I thought we were missing the good luck charm." Louis muttered. I raised an eyebrow in concussion.
"Niall's Irish." He explained and I nodded.
"Alright, so what game are we gonna play?" Finn asked.
"So, truth or dare? Beer pong? Never have I ever?" Jack suggested.
"Truth or dare!" Louis exclaimed.
"Yeah what he said!" Casper drunkly cheered.
"I'm cool with truth or dare." Zayn nodded.
"Um, sure." I shrugged at Louis.
"Let's make this fun, shall we? Each truth you answer, you take a shot. And every unsuccessful dare two shots for being a pussy." Bailey started.
"Deal!" Everyone agreed.
"What'd we miss?" Niall walked in with a disturbed looking Harry.
"Eh! There you lads are! Come on sit down! We are just starting a game of truth or dare!" Louis exclaimed.
Niall and Louis did a bro hug, Harry just shook Louis's hand. I scooted over and Niall plopped down beside me, Harry to his other side. Niall looked cheerful just like everyother time Ive seen him. Countering that, Harry look horrid. Not completely horrid, but disturbed. His eyes were bloodshot from the liquor, and thin layer of grim and dirt smudged his face along with a few cuts here and there. I know I had been staring but there was something in his eyes that held me captive.
Wow that sounded cliché.
But in my own defense against myself, it was true. That hint of dark evergreen forest in his rich pigment, Kelly green eyes. That edgy look of anger, and annoyance. His eyes weren't the only thing that had my attention. It was the tattoos. I have clearly examined most of the groups tattoos although I didn't understand a lot of them. And the piercings, those were interesting too. Like honestly, I don't see how someone would want to impale themselves with sharp needles.
"Paris." Niall whispered, cause me to sudden snap out of my trance.
"Yeah?"
"You're up after Finn."
"Oh, thanks."
"Do I have too?" Finn slurred and pouted.
"Yes! Now do it!" Some random slut cheered. Wait excuse me, I'm not suppose to judge, Some random girl who was only here to kiss or see someone get naked, cheered.
"Fine." He grumbled and stripped his shirt and pants so he was standing in his boxers.
"Hand me the the vodka!" The random girl who is only here to kiss or see someone naked, squealed.
Next thing you know Finn is covered in vodka and that girls lips. His dare was to have someone lick up all the vodka off his bare body. Like a body shot, but different. I'm anxious now to see what they will have me do. From what I have learned, being new is not something good.
"Done. Now get the fuck away from me!" Finn shoved the girl away and shuffled to put his close back on. It nearly took that girl two minutes for her to suck off all that liquor. And I bet, she enjoyed every last bit of it. "Alright, Paris you're up." Finn quickly switched the attention. "Truth or dare?" He smirked and took his place back down on the floor.
"Uh—" I started.
"She picks dare." Niall raised his hand and answered for me.
"Dare it is!" Jack concluded.
"Alright, for your dare you have to..." Finn tapped his chin.
"Kiss the guys to your left and right!" A different girl joined in.
"What? No!" I protested.
"Pucker up!" Casper laughed and shoved me into Nialls arms.
I half expected him to go for it, but the other half actually happened. Niall spun me around and pretended to kiss me. "Just go with it, they are all too drunk to tell the difference." He whispered into my ear.
"Okay, you two! She still has another victim!" Casper giggled.
I gave Niall a warmly smile and spun back around to face the circle, a few seconds later I was engulfed into someone's arms. To continue with the dare, it was suppose to be Finn, however I knew it was not. This must have been Jack or somebody else.
"You owe me a kiss I believe." The voice purred in my ear.
"Alright, I'm out." Harry grumbled and kicked something. "This is all bullshit. Who still plays these fucking shitty, pointless, games anymore?" Harry stormed out, Niall quickly following behind.
Suddenly the body let go of me, letting me breathe for a few seconds before being dragged away. "C'mon, Harry is known for his temper, let's just get out before anything happens." Zayn grasped my arm, lugging Casper and I behind him.
We were led to a small, almost empty lounge upstairs. The minute we took a seat on a large leather couch, the two were inserable. There lips were latched together with wandering hands.
"Um, I'm gonna go..." I slowly started to skip away from there intimate moment.
"You can't leave the party! Just go find a quiet room." Casper slurred, removing her lips from Zayns just for a minute.
I sighed and fled the room, I really needed some air. Frat homes are suffocating. Air thick with smoke and pollution from drunks. Afterall, you don't always have to be in water to drown. While I sat in that dark room earlier, It seemed as if my throat clenched with ever touch. The burning sensation spreading from my wrists up to my lungs.
"Paris right?" Some artificially pink haired girl squeaked.
"Yeah, and you are?" I stopped.
"Ky." The girl smirked.
Oh shit. It's her, Niall's bitch of an ex-girlfriend. Smile and pretend you don't know her. "Oh, it's nice to meet you." I said in a sort of monotone.
"You too, I've heard so much about you." She smiled a little creepily.
"Good things I hope." I cracked a glimps of a smile.
"Mostly." The chill in her voice made me nervous. "I think we've met before."
"I could argue against that." The smirk faded.
"I remember you, in the pictures." She circled her finger as if she spun a wheel of pictures.
"We've never met before, I promise you that." I took a step back.
"Yes, yes we have." Ky took a step forward.
"I'm sorry Ky, but we've never met before." I started backing away.
"I know we have." Ky insisted from her place.
"No. You have never seen me before in your life." I reassured.
"Stop trying to deny the memories, I know I've seen you before." Ky raised her voice.
"Maybe I look like someone you once knew, but I have never seen you before in your life." I began getting frustrated.
"How could I remember you if you insist we've never met?"
"Maybe I look like an old friend, or someone who died. But I'm not who you think I am."
"Go ahead and tell me I'm wrong, saying it right to my face."
"You're wrong, simple as that!" I turned to walk away but a whisper stopped me.
"You will remember me, and then it will be over." Ky's chilling voice cased every hair on my body to stand.
Then a large hand clasped around my waist, dragging me to the side. "Don't listen to her." The faint mutter, whispered in my ear.
"She's sketchy as fuck!" Another voice boomed. "Ky's just trying to get to you. She made all that damn shit up." I turned to find Jack and Finn. "Being a baby of the group is just grand." Finn protectively wrapped his arm around my shoulders.
"You mean scaring me out if my goddam mind?" I panted, placing a hand over my beating heart.
"Yeah, Niall mentioned you upstairs when I told him to get his ass moving to help that girl. She flipped when she heard another girls name. So she thought, 'Why not scare and creep this bitch out of her fucking mind? Causing her to stay away from him, because wherever he is, I am.'"
"That fucking twisted piece of scum!" I shouted, letting all that anger out.
"That's all you have to say? Didn't anyone ever teach you how to properly swear?" Jack croaked between his laughter.
I sighed, calming myself a bit. So far tonight has been extremely overwhelming and tiring. "Whatever. Could either of you possibly take me home?"
"As much as I wish I could help, I can't. My ride doesn't leave for a few more hours."
"Do you know of anyplace to sleep?"
"A few of these rooms are empty, probably the ones at the end of the hallways. If one is open, lock the door and go right ahead, but keep your phone on." Jack encouraged.
"Thanks guys."
I smiled and gave them a friendly hug before gathering enough energy to make it to a room. It seemed almost ironic, every time they seemed so happy and energetic, I began to feel drained. Hours ago I was eager and anxious, my first college party. But now I shuffled my way down a dim lit hallway to await an open room. It's intriguing on how quickly a trick card is played and the tables turn, putting you on the spot in the limelight.
Seconds felt like hours, and minutes felt like days. The mix of alcohol and chemicals from the air were really starting to get to me. I felt dizzy and lightheaded. But for the record, I never was much of a drinker. Honestly, I don't see why I thought this was going to be such a good idea.
Finally, after years of wandering down hallways, I made it to the rooms the boys had been talking about. I reached for the nob just as the door swung open. A drunken frat guy stumbled out, wearing nothing but a sheet.
The creep reached my hand, grabbing it before I could even react. "C'mon, let's go somewhere private." His husky voice muttered, the smell of beer was thick as he spoke.
Once again before I could react, I was being torn in another direction. However, this time I fought back. Kneeing the creep in the jewels and running back down the hall to a room i knew would be open.
"Harry! Harry! Please open up!" I screamed and pounded on the wooden door. "Harry! Please, he is coming closer!" There was still no response, so I started pounding louder. "Harry please, If you are in there just open the door! He's her—" I was cut off by an angry hero.
The door opened just a crack, letting me force my way in. "What the fu—" Harry started. Just as I turned to slam it just as a hand lunged out, hoping to grasp something, or someone. I forced all my weight against the door, preventing it from opening. "Move." Harry snapped and disappeared to the other side of the barricade. Taking a few steps back I heard the sound of muffled words. ...Next time I swear to fucking god, I won't hesitate to kill you.
Moments later the door swung open, knocking a picture off the wall. Harry just completely ignored its insistence, leaving the me to stare at the broken pieces. Using up every last bit of energy in me, to fight the urge of cleaning it up. After a minute or two of silence, I gave in. Kneeling down, picking up each rigid piece of glass, one by one, placing them on a nearby stand. The whole time I felt Harry's eyes on me. It's that uneasy feeling in your stomach that you are being watched. His gaze never left me. Even when I got up, after the mess had been cleaned, and moved back to the bed.
"I'll be back in five minutes. You better not be in here when I get back." The anger was always so string with him.
I didn't say anything or even move my eyes just followed him out. For the first time all day I actually was sitting in silence. A peaceful, soothing, silence, that was well needed. My eyelids fluttered closed, enjoying the little things, like silence. The last thing I remember was someone tucking me in a blanket and darkness. Allowing my imagination run wild.
