Listening to Niall

The alarm makes me jump. It is Thursday morning, and I was up late last night skyping Niall.
He's been having a hard time in Russia not understanding the language. He said Liam is having a blast with all the blonds, being the new hot exchange student.
I told him about school and about my final project I've been working on. We spoke about us and how much we miss each other. About his mum who keeps calling to make sure he is eating enough.
We both knew Valentine's day is today, but we stayed away from that topic. I think it was mostly not get me upset and sad.
I peel myself out of bed, fighting the urge to go back to sleep. After washing my face and brushing my teeth I put some sweats on and my trainers. I tie my hair in a bun and fill up my water battle.
"Hi" I wave at Harry when I reach the start of the trail.
"Didn't sleep much did you?" He asked checking my face
"That bad?" I pondered out loud
"Na... I just know you too well, so I noticed"
We start a jog, running silently.
"How are Niall and Liam?" Harry asked when we switched into a fast walk.
"Umm.. they are good, Liam is having fun with the ladies there"
"And Niall?"
"I think he's having a hard time"
"Do you have any plans for tomorrow?"
I glance up, catching him studying me. Harry always asked the questions that other people avoid. Even that time me being in hospital with the fear of having cancer he asked the thing that others were too scared to ask.
"I have a date with Ben and Jerry" I smile.
"Wow two lads, you are something..." He smiled
"Well, El and Lou wanted me to join them which is crazy, I mean why would I? It's Valentine's day"
"They probably knew it will be hard for you without Niall here" Harry answered softly
"I'm sure, and I'm grateful, but I'll be ok" I shrug

Zayn picked us up for school, since Niall was no longer around to do so. I get into the back with Eleanor, Louis moving to make us room.
"So-" Perrie turned around a bright smile on her face.
"Don't say it" I cut her off, having enough Valentine's Day talk for one morning.
"Someone misses her boyfriend" Louis ruffled my hair.
"Come on Lou it's too early in the morning to make fun of me" I push his hand away.
"Who are you kidding love? You are up since five running"
"Get of it, I had an ear full about it from Harry this morning I don't need to hear it from you too"
"Gosh, give her a break- can't you see she's in a bad mood?" Eleanor tells him
"All right- all right- I'm sorry"
"So are we meeting at the cafeteria today?" Perrie changed the subject.
"Sure, at 11:00 then" I say glad for the change.
Zayn let Perrie and I off, and drove away as we waved goodbye.
"So, hard times?" She shared a sympathetic glance my way.
"Achh I don't even know how to describe what I'm going through" I throw my hands up. "I mean, this is so surreal to me. You are here, and Eleanor and the lads, and I keep thinking in a moment Niall will just walk through that door and then he doesn't" I let out a breath, blowing my hair away from my eyes.
"Surly you'll get used to that though"
"Yeah, but I keep getting the air knocked out of me when I realize he isn't here" I pout at her.
"Oh love, I'm sure you do! But that is a good thing" She hugs me as we walk into the building
"How's that?" I wonder out loud.
"Because then it means you really do love him, she winks as she walked off to her class.
I shake my head smiling at that. Perrie always had the right thing to say, at the right time.
"Jamie!" Mia jumped up from her seat when I walked in
"What are you doing here so soon?" I stride over extending my arms for a hug.
"I had to come back- I can't miss so mush school" She squeezed "How is your Ni?"
"He's all right, he'll be back soon enough" I attempt a smile, though it was quite hard seeing everyone around me was so lovey dovey for Valentine's.

I am the first one to leave the class when the teacher lets us free, trying to avoid engaging in any more 'how are you' conversation.
"Hey sunshine"
I turn just as an arm slides across my shoulders.
"Gosh- thank god it's you! I don't think I can take any more pity conversations from people- It's as if I am no longer me for some people when Niall isn't around" I say to Harry sadly
"And I was just about to ask how's your day've been so far" His mouth twitched
I swipe at his arm- smacking it away. We join our friends, Harry still wearing a big smile on his face.
"What up my man?" Louis bumped his fist with Harry's.
"I asked Jamie how her day has been so far and she swats at me!" He gasps mockingly.
"I know, she just gets grumpier by the minute! We need to get her some Niallbiotics" Louis nodded
"Come Jay, sit by me and ignore these nitwits" El makes me some room.
"So do you and Niall have a Skype date tonight?" Zayn asked
"I don't know, we keep missing each other"
"What are you two doing tonight?" El asked Perrie and Zayn.
"It's a surprise" Zayn puts a finger to his lips to hush us.
"I told Louis he needs to take me out to a nice restaurant" Eleanor sighed.
"Harry, do you have a hot date tonight?" Zayn wanted to know.
"It's for me to know and you to guess" He smiled his cheeky smile, but his eyes were locked to mine.
"Hang out with Jay, make sure she doesn't kill herself or something" Louis mocked me
"Lou! Stop it" Eleanor gave him a shove.
"Na, Jayme has a hot date with Ben and Jerry's"
"Sad! Maybe you should join Zayn and me?" Perrie felt bad
"No, no. I'm fine- Niall and I don't need a holiday to make sure we love each other- we let each other know this every day" I fold my arms
"Now, there is something you lot should learn from them" Eleanor smiles
"You're just saying that since Niall isn't here" Harry wiggles his finger at me
"It's called double standards love" I wink.
"All right- then tomorrow we can have a group date- do something all of us together" Perrie suggested
"No, I don't want you to change you plans because of me" I refused
"Don't be daft! I insist!"


That evening I sat on the sofa in my sweats after saying goodbye to El wishing her a fun time.
"Ben- Jerry- Cheers" I say knocking the spoon to the cardboard ice cream package.
I was waiting for Niall to get on skype sitting in front of my lap-top.
Just when I was about to give up and switch on the telly to see if there is anything good to see, Niall got on.
"Hello beautiful" He smiled
"Hi" I Flutter
"I missed you- Are you sitting with Ben and Jerry's?" He cocked an eyebrow
"I am, Meet my two hot dates for the night" I wave the ice cream at him
"Why don't you go out with El and Louis?" He asked
"Why should I invade on them? I'll just find a movie- what about you?"
"I'm not sure, Liam is going to this party, but I feel weird going when you won't be there"
"Who is that? Jamie? Hi Jay!" Liam appears on the screen
"All right Liam?" I smile
"Tell Ni to come to the party with me!" He shouts at the screen
"Ni- you should go to the party with him- no point in both of us moping around"
"Yeah! Nialler's coming to the partyyy" Liam was running around with his arms spread to the side like a plane.
"Gosh, how much did he drink?" I roll my eyes.
"You sure you don't want me to stay on line and talk to you the rest of the night?" Niall asks
"I want you too, but it will just make me cry" I pout.
"Don't cry, I wish we could be together today"
"I wish so too"
"Come onn Niall we'll be late" Liam pulls on his arm.
"Can I say goodbye to my princess first?" Niall hisses at him
"Bye princess!" Liam blows me a kiss.
"God this is going to be a mad night" It was Niall's turn to roll his eyes.
"Look after him, I'm not there to make sure you guys don't overdo it"
"I will, I miss you sweetie!" He says
"I miss you too- have fun"
"I love you!"
"Love you!"
And the call ends.
"Ready for a fun night?" I ask the ice cream
I get comfortable on the couch. I flip the telly on and look for something to watch.
There is a knock on the door.
"Well someone is crashing my party" I say out loud.
I open the door to find Harry standing there with a rose in hand.
"Harry... What are you doing here?" I eye him, uncomfortable with him seeing me in my sweats and high ponytail holding a bowl of ice cream.
"You really are having a party" His eyes go wide as a smile is painted on his lips "I came to make sure your party doesn't get out of control" He walked in passing me at the door.
"I have a strict sweats only policy for this party- and you're not dressed as code" I close the door and fold my arms as I turn to him. Harry is wearing dark jeans and a white button down shirt.
"Well, that policy will need to go on hold, as I await for you to change" He pointed the rose at me.
"Is that for me?" I ask a hint of a smile on my face
"Well, I was going to offer it to the first girl I see... So.." He bowed offering me the rose.
"Thank you" I smile as I took it from his hand.
"Well then- are you going to change? I mean- you can come in your sweats but I think you will be more comfortable in something less flashy" He shook his curls out of his eyes.
"Wait- are you serious?" It took me awhile to understand why Harry was over, but finally I understood.
"I find it sad you sitting here on your own, even though you have Ben and Jerry to keep you company" He took the ice cream out of my hand, scooping a spoonful and eating it. "I thought since I too am on my own tonight we can go out- as friends" He shrugged
"I don't know what to say" I mumble looking at the rose in my hands.
"Say yes- come on Jamie- what is Niall doing tonight?"
"He went to a party with Liam" I blow out air as I know where he is going with this.
"See, I don't need to tell you then why you should come out with me" He held out his hands.
I study his face. He was clean shaven and his hair was still moist from his shower. I could smell his soap and aftershave.
"All right" I finally say, a small smile to my face. This can be fun. I had fun on my other times out with Harry, so why should this be any different?
"Fantastic- go change, while I have some more of Ben and Jerry's" He plumped himself on the couch. I turn on my heels and head to my room to find something respectable to wear.
I decide on a small simple black dress with black ballet shoes, thinking this should be good enough.
I walk out of the room to present myself to Harry.
"I'm ready" I say. Harry turned his head back to have a look at me.
"I love your ponytail the best" He winked
"Oh- I forgot about that" I said sheepishly, pulling the rubber band out of my hair and letting it down.
"All right then" Harry gets to his feet "Are you ready?"
I know I haven’t put in any effort into how I look, and Harry knew it too. I felt bad since he is trying to make me feel better, and I am kind of dragging along as if he is pulling me from my hair. But I'm feeling quite weird, going out on valentine's with Harry while Niall is away. Harry and I became quite close these past few months, but now one forgot we dated for a minute and what happened after that.
"This will be fun" He smiled, holding the door open for me.
But that was what I was so scared of- Having fun with Harry on Valentine's Day.

Hi guys! how was your valentine's Day?
It is a long distant memory now isn't it?
I know it's taking me a long time to update, but I am really trying, I am writing three different stories at the same time, and trying to maintain a normal life so it is slightly hard...
