Remembering Myself

Liam's p.o.v.

"Help!!" Andie screamed as her head burst from the water.

"Andie!!" I yelled back, looking for a life jacket. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid Payne what were you thinking!? You should have held onto her and this wouldn't have happened! Then I saw her sink beneath the surface again and it seemed to freeze time. Ah forget the life jacket! She's drowning!!! I tore the life saver from the side of the boat and then after taking a deep breath, I dove in. The temperature of the water shocked me for a minute, IT. WAS. FREEZING. COLD!!!!

After adjusting to the temp, I began to swim to the last place I saw Andie, but she was nowhere in sight! I then felt something...no! Someone hit my leg. "Of course you idiot!" I yelled at myself, "She blacked out!!" I then felt her sinking farther down. Diving under, I grabbed a hold of her waist pulled her back towards the surface. Her unconscious form shivered, breathing unevenly and then a wave crashed over us.

Tightening my grip around her, I began to swim towards the rocks hoping for a small cave of some sort. Another wave crashed down, pulling me and Andie underneath.

Swimming more desperately, I finally managed to make it to a large rock. Pulling Andie and myself onto it, I began to search for a small cave.

The rain poured on us and made it difficult for me to see but I did see an opening. Grabbing hold of Andie once more, I jumped back in and began to swim towards the cave.

After 10 minutes of tiring struggle I managed to get myself and Andie into the cave and above the tide. We were soaked to the bone but alive. I held Andie close, knowing that this was one of the only ways to stay fairly warm, at this state. I huddled us closer to the cave wall and then overcome with exhaustion, I blacked out with Andie in arms.
