The Cherry Game
Chapter 28
~ Samantha's POV ~
*Three Weeks Later*
I laughed at something Eric said, the sound was fake as I pitched my eyes closed in hysterics. Why was it so damn funny? All he did was curse out some kid walking around the campus to class.
"Fucking loser." He said and Andrea took another drag of the joint that was previously placed between Eric's lips. My headache intensified as I took another swig of vodka. My hangover is still pounding my head, but I could give less a shit.
"You three." We all turned our heads to look at the principle of our high school. "Get to class before I punish you." He snapped and I scoffed.
"Ohh! Okay! Big, bad, scary principle going to punish us." My tone was mocking as the principle looked a me accusingly.
"Now." He demanded and I stood from the bench.
"Meet me here at 10:10. That's when I have break." I shoved the brown paper bag that held the bottle to Eric's chest and walked off to my advisory class. I walked in as the teacher was talking and all eyes turned to me. Harry turned rigid as he took in my appearance. I rolled my eyes and tore my gaze from his to look at Ms. Emerald.
"You're late, Samantha." She scolded and I nodded.
"Yeah. I wouldn't have even showed up if it wasn't for that jack ass of a principle." A few people laughed at my remark and the teacher widened her eyes.
"Sit down, and shut your mouth!" She demanded and I cringed at the volume of her voice.
"Can you lower your voice? Some people are recovering from that hell of a party last night." Brett stuck his hand out and high-fived me as I smirked at the memory of him playing strip poker.
"Samantha." Her voice was low, dangerous as I rolled my eyes and sat in my desk next to Harry's. Damn him for moving homeroom classes to be with me. Looking at him makes me sick. First he uses me in a bet, then once I forgive him he cheats on me. What a fucking prick. The thought made my heart clench in regret at my unspoken words. He still had the effect on me even though I hate him. I love him but I hate him even more.
"Hungover? Nice, Sammy. Real nice." Alex joked from behind me and I snapped my head to look at her.
"Don't fucking judge me. We all have that one thing we do to ignore the world. Mine happened to be different from yours." I seethed, my voice not going more than a loud whisper. She widened her eyes and sunk deeper into her seat.
"Samantha, don't do this to yourself." Liam whispered from beside me and I stood from my seat.
"Are you serious? You can't be serious, Liam." The words were harsh as they fell from my numb mouth.
"Samantha! Go to the principles office, now." I flipped her off over my shoulder, and kept my glare on Liam.
"You're the guy who had to play innocent girls in a bet just to get laid! After everything you five have done, all of the destruction you have caused you can't be telling me how to live my life. You broke girls year after year with no regret and now you get to actually see how it affects the girls after you hurt them. You don't want to feel guilty so you try to tell me to stop what I'm doing. Well guess what?! It's not going to even effect me. Because I don't give a fuck about what any of you think of me! Especially you!" I pointed at Harry and he was struggling to keep the tears in his eyes. "Especially you." I repeated, with more emphasis and he cringed as if the words caused him physical pain.
"Samantha!" Ms. Emerald spoke and I turned to look at her.
"Fuck this." I snapped and she widened her eyes at my statement.
"Where are you going?!" she shouted as I neared the door to the class room.
"I have people waiting for me outside." I said and walked out of room that had sucked the air from my lungs. I ran into the girls bathroom, shutting and locking the main door behind me. Unwanted tears coated my cheeks as I made myself look into the mirror. All I saw was a lost, broken, unhealthy creature staring into my soul. Tears streamed down her face. Her eyes were red, bloodshot. This girl was thin. Too thin from lack of food and intake of drugs. I hated this..this thing that referred to itself as me. She was ugly, awful, a complete bitch and I absolutely hated her.
I looked down on the counter and saw it. A bobby pin. An innocent hair accessory siting there in a puddle of water from the sink. I took it between my shaky fingers and looked at it. This piece of metal...could do so much damage. So much. I seconds the plastic casing was ripped from the tip and I brought the metal to the skin on my wrist. It scraped against my flesh. Just like I saw in the movies and the pictures. But it wasn't like that. It didn't feel as good as they made it out to be. There was no blood like the ones on the media, and it felt absolutely horrible.
But I didn't want to stop.
I kept going on and on until I saw the red beads escaping my skin, trickling onto the cold, tiled floor of the ladies bathroom. I wanted to feel that pain, and punish myself for falling into people's traps. For thinking that love exists. Because as far as I'm concerned...it doesn't.
~ Harry's POV ~
God, I broke her. I broke her into tiny shards and she can't seem to pick up the peices. I'm a fucking idiot to think that she could be okay. Because what I did to her wasn't okay. Her eyes are bloodshot, and her body is skinnier than a toothpick. It makes me want to throw up. I did this to her. I can't take it back. She stood from her seat and looked at Liam, her eyes ablaze with fury. I held in my tears as her gaze momentarily cut to me then back to Liam.
Especially you!" Samantha pointed to me, and accusing finger in my direction made the water nearly fall down my cheeks, but I keep them in. Because I know I don't get to cry about this. Because I know she's hurting more than I am. "Especially you." I cringe. Her words cutting me much more deep than they should.
"Samantha!" The teacher scolded and Sammy turned and shot her a glare.
"Fuck this." The words tumbled from her mouth as a sneer, I shivered. Ms. Emerald widened her eyes and Samantha headed towards the door.
"Where are you going?!" She shouted, and the broken girl turned around, a sad expression taking over her features.
"I have people waiting for me outside." She said before walking out.
What people?
