The Cherry Game
Chapter 12
~ Samantha's POV ~
Today me and Harry were having our re-do date. Considering the last one...ended with my dad pulling me back to the house. And I haven't seen Harry since. Great. Luckily, my dad had a good day today. He wasn't angry, so he's actually agreeing to this date! He thinks Harry is "worth a shot, and a good boy." I think my dads bi-polar...
The doorbell rung and I walked downstairs not looking at my reflection in the mirror again, so I don't think of any more flaws to fix. Once I reached the bottom step, my dad had already answered the door, and was having a conversation with Harry. Oh no.
"Dad! How nice of you to answer the door!" I said holding back my anger, and adding a hint of sarcasm to my words. He rolled his eyes playfully and looked at Harry.
"I'm really sorry about the way I reacted last week. I'm just worried about my little princess." I gaped my mouth at his words.
"Dad!" My mouth yelped in embarrassment. Harry chuckled lightly before shaking my dads hand.
"Thank you Mr. Rindon." Harry forced out a smile and my dad nodded in response.
"Okay, have fun. Not too much fun. you're not old enough!" He yelled after us as Harry led me to his car. I fidgeted with my fingers nervously as I waited for him to start the car up.
"So tell me, what is it with your dad?" His voice was curious, yet slightly playful to a point where I could laugh if I wanted too. But I decided to keep it down and answer his question seriously.
"I'm pretty sure he's bi-polar. I've thought this for a while but he comes home different every day. One day he'll come home like that," I said referring to how he was just acting, "Others he'll be different. Angry, destructive..." I trailed off not wanting to finish but hoping he understood the rest,
"Abusive!?" He whisper/yelled. I face palmed and sighed.
"Yeah. Yeah Harry, abusive I guess." My gaze wandered around the car, but purposely avoiding his. "But not bad... It's complicated. Can we change the subject?" I asked abruptly. He placed his large hand on my thigh, and electricity shot through me and I melted under his touch.
"Of course we can. You look beautiful." He said. I blushed and looked away once again, hoping he can't see the color change in my cheeks.
"Where are we going?" I asked. He smiled and didn't answer until we pulled up to a park.
"The park!" He exclaimed. I smiled and got out of the car, following his actions as I did so, and he grabbed my hand leading me to the swings.
"Go ahead, I'll push you." He said. I looked at him weird before giving in and sitting on the small, children's swing. He walked around me and began to push my back, making the swing move back and forth.
"Can I tell you something?" I asked as the swing swung higher in the air.
"Sure." He responded while giving my back another light push. I giggled at the feeling his touch gave me, but sobered up to tell him what I was hinting at earlier.
"I'm afraid of heights!" I had to raise my voice in order for him to hear me. I squealed as the swing lifted even higher into the air.
"Why didn't you tell me that before I pushed you 10 feet off the ground?!" He said, humor obvious in his voice.
"I forgot! and this is ten feet high?!" I exclaimed.
"Yes! Sam!" He whined. Without any other thought I released the chain of the swing and went flying in the air, and onto the sand.
"Oh god." I laughed lightly. Harry came over to me and looked at me with raised eyebrows.
"What the hell was that?!" He exclaimed helping me off the ground. I shrugged and dusted the sand off of me.
"It was fun though!" I said with a smile. He rolled his eyes in a playful way before pulling me in for a hug.
"You always keep me on my toes, Samantha." He said with a chuckle. I giggled and pulled away from the hug to look at him.
"Do you wanna dance with me?" He asked.
"Sure." I smiled and he pulled me close again, as we began to sway back and forth In the middle of the empty park.
"So, is there anything else I should know about you, Sam?" I laughed and he joined me, making his chest rumble against my cheek, that was pressed directly to him. We seemed to move to the same rhythm of his heart beat, and I relaxed.
"I have a little sister who lives with my mom in the town we previously lived in before me and my dad moved here. She's 6, and my mom is an alcoholic, which worries me. I don't trust her with my sister." Sadness clouded my happiness at the thought of my mother, and sister.
"What's your sisters name?" He asked with sincerity.
"Megan." I breathed.
"Do you miss them?" He asks.
"My mom just kind of left my dad, and took Megan with her. That was before what happened at school. I haven't seen them since, and I really really miss Megan." I could tell he was sad, because he held a tighter grip on me as we continued to sway.
"Are you okay?" Wow. No one has asked me that in a really long time.
"Yeah. I'm dealing with all of it. There's not really a source of happiness in my life besides you. Which is good." He kissed the top of my head and. I sighed in satisfaction.
"I like you Samantha." Harry said. I smiled and pulled away to look at him.
"Well, I like you too." I kissed his cheek, but hexane back down, and connected his lips to mine.
Maybe even falling for you....
