Best Mistake
Prologue
"Grace. Come on" My dad shouts.
"Coming!" I quickly slip on my skinny jeans, red drop shoulder sweater, and grey toms.
"Grace!" i hear my mom repeat, "Hurry! Your father has to get to work!"
I don't understand why she is pestering me, she can leave now, she has her own car and her businesses is an hour away, she should be driving now.
My mom works for a magazine and my father owns it. That's how they met.
I jog down the stairs, grabbing my purse and phone on the counter.
"Honey." My mother says ans she traps me in a hug and kisses the top of my head.
"Bye, love you all." I try to rush out the door, but am stopped by my mother and father. "I really have to go. Valarie is waiting at the coffee sop." i rush my words.
My dad sighs, "sweetie, we have to tell you something."
I try to look them in the eyes but they are searching the room, avoiding my gaze.
"I am changing the magazine. It'll be issued in London." Dad explains.
"And? You've done this before.. why are you telling me?" i ask.
"Well, your father and I were going to tell you sooner but, well... we are moving the magazine to London." My mother clears things up.
I am left speechless.
"I can't stay here by myself! Are you seriously going to drag me to London! Away from my best friend! I just finished High school!" I shout, now pacing the room.
I can't stay by myself because my parents are protective of me, and i can't handle being on my own yet...
"Honey, we understand that you are worried, but London is great for my fashion career. I got an offer to design my own line." my mother brags. She is always bragging about herself. My father stands up and places his hand on my shoulder.
"Please. Just do this for me. For your mother."
I sigh, knowing my father is right. "Fine."
"Good, now if you want when we are settled in our new house you can invite Valarie over." he says and leads me to my car.
I have to explain this all to Val. Great. We have been best friends since we were eleven.
I can't believe them.
