Terrible Little Things
Summary
"Here," I seethed, throwing the diamond ring at the couple on the sofa. "Take, I sure as hell don't need it." I turned on my heel and stomped to the door. I rested a hand on the doorknob but hesitated. I turned to face him, "You know, you'll regret this. I'll be on stage doing what I love, making millions, and you'll just be another face in the crowd. You'll miss me, you'll want me back, you'll regret ever letting me slip through your fingers. But it'll be too late because I'd have long moved on." I turned towards the door, opened it and stormed out, slamming it loud.
I just walked for a while, not really having a set destination. As I wandered through the city I let my legs and heart lead me in the right direction.
I felt oddly free. I could do anything I wanted, and I had Harry to thank for that. I could have stayed in that comatose state forever and a day if I wanted. I could have sat in that chair for months waiting for Niall to march back into my house like he owned it. But he set me free, and I will be eternally grateful.
I knew what I had to do. It was clear and there was no mistaking the next step for me. It was time to think for myself, do something for myself, be myself. I guess my heart knew that as well because there I stood, in an elevator making my way to the very top floor.
On that floor sat the person that could make or break my future. The elevator dinged and I stepped out. I ignored the people looking at me weird, I ignored the receptionist asking if I had an appointment, I ignored the secretary telling me to wait, I ignored it all and burst into the office.
Both the doors flew open, and there, behind the big mahogany desk and Mac computer, he sat. He looked up in surprise and his brown eyes met mine. "I'm ready," I breathed. Simon smiled and chuckled, "Well then, let's get started."
