Moments
Chapter 2
So far, the concert was absolutely amazing! The boys were so much fun and definitely better live than on tv. Besides the hordes of screaming 12 year-olds, the atmosphere was great! It was 10 when my favourite song was played – Moments.
I had a seat only a few rows away from the stage, and I could've sworn that Liam looked at me when he was singing. As I felt his beautiful chocolate brown eyes pierce my own – “heart beats harder, time escapes me” he whispered. He stood still for a few seconds then suddenly ran off stage with a sense of overwhelming urgency. The audience was shocked. “Where did he go” I heard the girl next to me desperately ask her friends. The rest of the boys continued the song and Liam enthusiastically ran on stage, seemingly relieved, for the next set whilst apologizing for the “technical difficulty”.
The rest of the show went on smoothly and finished with loads of energy. I drifted out with the crowd when the night was over, and got out my phone to ring for a taxi, again. The lady on the phone said that there would be a little bit of a wait, with a hint of annoyance; she probably had a long day.
I plonked myself on the steps of the theatre, pulling my warm cardigan around myself, and looking up at the stars. I jumped when I got an unexpected tap on the shoulder. “Excuse me, I am one of Mr Payne’s managers, and I have a message from him”. “What?!” I giggled. Was this a joke? Or was it a mistake? “OK” I grinned, going along with it. The man, not much older than me explained that earlier in the night he spotted you in the audience and told me to tell you that “you are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen”. “He is unable to see you tonight, but would like you to accompany him backstage for tomorrow night’s show”. I was speechless. It had sounded like something off a movie or in a novel. One of the most famous guys in the world thought that I was beautiful? No guy had ever said that to me before, let alone running off stage mid-performance to make sure he would see me again! Was this real?
The guy, who I later found out was named Jake, gave me his card and told me to ring him tomorrow for a car to pick me up. As the taxi arrived, I thanked him and floated into the car. When I arrived home, I practically jumped out of the taxi and ran inside to tell my parents what had happened. At first they didn't believe me, but I told them all the little details, including Jake’s card as ‘evidence’, which changed their minds. Just like me, they couldn't believe that Liam actually noticed me and wanted to see me the next day.
I spent the rest of the night questioning the events that had unfolded. I went into the shower, not really noticing the hot water turning my skin raw, because instead my mind was filled with Liam. Liam, Liam, Liam. I dried myself off and stumbled into bed, so tired, yet not wanting this wonderful day to end. In my trance of fantasy, I drifted off to sleep, dreaming of only one person.
