They Don't Know About Us

Chapter 1: Miss Popular?

During my high school years I had the worst and best times of my life. I’m glad that rollercoaster is over. Just thinking about it makes me want to throw up.
My name is Madeline Mc. Lear, I am 17 years old and I graduated from high school 3 weeks ago. Some people will say I was one of the most popular girls in my school, but it wasn’t like that. I always thought popularity meant you had a lot of really good friends and were okay friends with their extended friends continuing the chain meaning you know a lot of people right? Wrong being popular means you kinda hang out with everyone and they all like you but not enough to have a best friend. I figured that out just two weeks ago when my mom asked if I wanted to invite any friends over. Besides that I am a normal teenage girl. Blonde hair, blue eyes, pretty skinny too. I was the Capitan of the South High cheerleading team, and love to shop but who doesn’t? I may seem perfect to you but I’m not a fake like all those other Barbie dolls sitting there with their plastic faces and stiff posture. To me perfection is knowing love, true friends and true beauty, I am far from perfect.
My mom is obsessed with trying to make my life perfect, or it seems like that. Once I had explained my popularity situation to her she instantly started planning a graduation party. She invited everyone in my graduating year (363 students) plus my cousins and family from Manhattan and Los Angeles. So far almost 500 people have sent their R.S.V.P’s in. Where in the world would this crazy party be? None other than my hometown Miami, Florida. My dad apparently knows some guys who manage a British boy band and they’ve agreed to let us rent their Miami Beach summer spot. So my graduation party will be at the same time as some meet and greet for this dumb band. I’ve heard things and seen clubs devoted to this One Direction, but I’ve never been a fan of them myself. To be honest they seem like pretty ordinary teenage boys.
My mom keeps acting like it’s the best thing in the world, me being popular and the party. Both mom and dad have gone all out to make me feel better. They rented a famous D.J. from Las Vegas to host the party. My cousin Hayleigh was Miss USA and she and her model friends will be there too. It was obvious my parents wanted to help me and I was kind of getting excited. This party is going to be awesome.
