The Runaways

The Runaways

*Addison's POV:
I looked out the window, down to the landscape below us. I can't believe we're doing this.
"Hey, Addison," Carter whispered, looking up from her book, Safe Haven by Nicolas Sparks.
"What?" I asked, pausing the song I was listening to.
"Were we right, in doing this?" she asked doubtful.
I looked down at my fingers, hoping they had the answer. They didn't, of course. "We had to go somewhere," I told her, looking up. "We can't deal with that, that," I stopped, tears pricking the back of my eyes.
She sniffled, "At least we have each other," she said, turning back to her book.
"Always," I mumbled, thinking of everything we had been through.
I put my headphones back on and started the song again.
I'm gonna pick up the pieces, and build a lego house,
If things go wrong we can knock it down.
I was gently lulled to sleep by Ed Sheeran's beautiful voice.
****
I felt someone shaking my shoulder. "Addi, Addi," Carter repeated, obviously the one shaking me.
"What?" I said sleepily, stretching a little.
"We have to get off the plane. We're in London, Addison," she said, a little breathlessly.
"Oh my god," I said, scrambling out of my seat.
Once we got off the plane, we quickly went to the bag check to grab our bags.
"Now what are we gonna do?" Carter asked, looking around the monsterous building that is Heathrow airport.
Just about that time, we heard screams. Not screams of terror, but screams of....joy?
"What the hell?" Carter said, whirling around to where the sound was coming from.
"Let's go see!" I exclaimed, wheeling my bag towards the outbursts.
"Wait up!" I heard Carter call as she ran after me.
A few minutes later we came upon the largest crowd I had ever seen.
"Oh my," I expressed, looking to my friend.
She looked at me and shrugged her shoulders before tapping a nearby girl on the shoulder.
"Excuse me," she said, the girl turning to her.
"What?" she snapped, clearly annoyed.
"I was just wondering what everyone was screaming about," Carter repeated the girl's actions, making me laugh a little.
"Because," the girl spat, "One Direction is arriving any minute." She spun back around.
Carter turned to me, her eyes wide. "They're here, Addison," she breathed, nudging her way through the crowd.
I followed her, as excited as she was.
Carter was suddenly thrown back into me. We fell to the ground, outside of the crowd.
"What bitches," I breathed, picking myself up and brushing the dirt off of my clothes.
"I know right?" Carter said, annoyed.
"Let's go around to the other side," I told her. "See how the crowd is sort of open on that side?" I asked, gesteuring to the side of the building.
"Yeah," she said, straining to get a better look.
"I bet you that's where they go after coming off the plane," I said.
We went over to that area and sat down on a bench.

*Carter's POV:
Me and Addy waited for a while to see when they would come out. A good five minutes later, still no One Direction. "C'mon Addy, they wouldn't be stupid enough to get out of the airport without a lot of protection."
We were about to walk away when a group of five boys in giant hoodies ran into us. "Excuse me?" I asked, wondering who they thought they were.
"Can we help you?" Addy asked, clearly annoyed.
"Actually, yes you can," said one of the boys. Hmm...British accent I hear. I raised my eyebrow, waiting for one to finish. "See all those girls over there?" sunglass boy asked, pointing to the herd of teenage girls.
"How could we not? I think my eardrums were about to burst!" Addison joked. All of them laughed.
"Well, we could use your help to get past them without them knowing," said the tallest one.
Woah....hold up. "Without them knowing wh-" I was cut off. All five boys pulled down their hoods and took off their sunglasses, finally revealing their faces. Oh..My...God...this explains everything! One Direction isn't with their bodyguard for a reason. They are too busy standing right in front of Addy and I! "Oh, well, that explains a lot," I said.
They seemed to all let out a sigh of relief. Addison noticed and asked, "Something on your mind?"
"No, we just thought that you would have reacted like every other fan in the world. We are knid of trained to be scared of fan reactions," Niall said, chuckling.
I looked over at Addy and she looked about ready to faint. Niall Horan was talking to her and I don't think she's breathing properly. I, on the other hand, am very calm and friendly in these situations, but right now, I am screaming inside.
"So, you two lovely ladies have a name?" Louis asked, looking back and forth between Addison and I.
I involuntarily blushed and said, "I'm Carter and this is my sister Addison." He smiled, making a smile appear on my own face.
I held a hand out for him to shake. He looked at it like it was an alien and for a second I thought I'd done something wrong. "No, no babe," he started, looking me in the eye. "I don't shake hands...I HUG!" I was then tackled into a warm and embracing hug. I have to say that it was the best hug that I have ever gotten from the entire male population.
Actually the only male hug I've ever gotten. Our father never let Addy or I hang out with any boys, so hugging was out of the question. I was surprised how friendly he was, but I guess that's Louis Tomlinson for you. Always around to make you smile. He let go and let the other boys have a go, along with Addy. When Niall gave her one, though, I think she wanted to kiss his face off, just to keep herself sane.
I put my arm around hers to let her know to get back to reality. I could feel eyes looking at me from my peripherals. I turned my head and my eyes met Louis'. We both jerked away and looked down, trying to disguise embarrassment.
After what seemed like forever, Liam piped up. "So will you two help us? We really need a plan to get passed them," he explained, looking around to the group.
An idea popped into my head. It seemed a little forward, but it was the only thing that could possibly work. "I have an idea," I said. Everyone looked up to me, waiting for me to continue. "I know it may seem a little weird since we just met and all, but Addison and I have been near those girls and they aren't really in the mood to just let you pass. We need to pretend to be a couple. Addison, you take someone and I'll take someone and the other three will just lag behind and pretend to goof off to draw attention away from everyone else. Everyone okay with that?" I asked. I was afraid of what their reactions would be, but surprisingly, they seemed very willing to try it.
"That's great Carter, but who's gonna decide who to put with us?" Addison asked even though we both knew who she wanted to put his arm around her. I, on the other hand, was not so sure. "Good point, Addi. Anyone willing to take one for the team? It will only be for five minutes, tops," I pleaded.
Soon all five boys spoke at once. "I'll do it!" they all chorused. They all turned to each other and started fighting on who would get each of us girls. I guess it was flattering to both of us, but if they made any more noise....let's just say that it wouldn't be good.
"Guys!" Addison and I yelled together. They immediately stopped and looked at us.
"It doesn't matter!" Addison exclaimed with a laugh. "Just pick someone!"
Harry was the first to step up. "I call Carter!" he said smiling. Louis pushed him back.
"No, Haz, we all know that you would have too much fun with both of them if you tried," Louis laughed.
"Good point," Harry agreed, smiling cheekily and stepping back.
"I'll be with you, Carter," Louis said, coming to stand by me. I felt a blush rise up onto my cheeks.
Before anyone could object, I said, "Great! Now Addison, do you have someone?" She nodded and pointed to Niall. Figures. "Okay, so just follow our lead. Louis and Niall, just act all coupley with us and you three goof off behind us okay?" I explained.
They all nodded their heads excitedly, probably because they finally had a plan. We headed off into the direction of the frenzy of teenage girls.
