Chapter 4
*2 WEEKS AFTER THE WEDDING*
I was pulled out of sleep by my nose tickling and I could feel it was someone else doing it. I opened my eyes and the culprit was Liam who had been previously rubbing his against mine.
Liam was now standing over me and smiling. ‘Good morning gorgeous.’
Liam handed me a cup of tea and I sat up taking it gratefully. I looked at the clock and noticed it was only 8:45. ‘What are you doing up so early?’
‘I have a client this morning and I’m spending all morning with him.’ I nodded and took a sip of my tea. Ever since Harry left, Liam had started training other people how to box. ‘It’s Harry.’
At the mention of his name I spat a bit of my tea back into my cup but I don’t think Liam noticed my unladylike behaviour.
‘Harry wants to get back into boxing and has asked if I would be in his corner again.’ Liam continued.
Oh great this is good. My ex who has told me he wants sex with me and my new husband are going to spending time together.
‘Are you working tonight?’ Liam says as he stands and picks his bag up.
‘Yea but I might go to Grace’s first.’ I place my empty cup on the side and grab my phone.
‘Well I will see you there tonight. The boys are going out to celebrate Harry’s homecoming. I love you.’ Liam leans down and places a soft kiss on my cheek before leaving the room.
‘So now Liam and Harry are going to be spending loads of time together.’ I finish telling Grace my story.
Grace nods slowly as she runs her fingers through Bella’s hair who is sitting at our feet colouring some pictures.
‘Of course I love Liam but I’m scared that I’m going to get caught up in old feelings with Harry.’
‘Do you love Harry?’ Grace says taking her eyes off of Bella and making eye contact with me.
I hesitate but before I have a chance to answer Grace is speaking again. ‘No Samii you don’t. I was surprised to even see him at the wedding. I was getting ready to kick him out but Niall stopped me.’
Bella stands up and lifts her arms up for Grace to pick her up. Grace lifts Bella up and sits her on her lap. ‘As long as he stays away it will be fine.’
I uncomfortably try to adjust my dress as I serve a few customers. Our boss has decided to change mine and Grace’s uniform and has given us brand new uniforms Grace is excited about our change of clothes as she is finally able to wear a pair of high heels to work again and not the flats she was given last time.
I had my back to the bar as I was placing a new bottle of vodka in one of the optics when a voice called out to me. ‘Beer please beautiful.’
I smiled at the familiar voice and turned around to look into the eyes of Liam. ‘Of course Mr Payne.’ I quickly pull his pint and place it in front of him.
‘Cheers Mrs Payne.’ Liam winks at me and walks away. I look down the bar and Grace has just served Niall and the rest of the boys.
The boys take a seat on some bar stools at the end of the bar and instantly are laughing and chatting like old times. I smile at the 5 of them, I’m happy that they are finally all back together after all this time. But my smile is quickly wiped off my face when I notice Harry staring back at me. He isn’t smiling at me like he normally does, his eyes are hard and cold.
I start to breathe heavier and panic. I need to get out of here and away from Harry’s stare. I bolt for the door behind the bar leading to the alleyway walking quickly ignoring Grace’s questions.
I walk down from the door so I’m away from the drunks standing at the entrance of the alleyway. When I finally stop I take a deep breath in and let the cold air cool my hot skin down. I lift the hem of my dress up revealing my garter I wear to hold my phone and take the cigarette packet out that’s safely tucked in next to my phone.
I open the small half empty packet and pull my lighter and a cigarette out. I only smoke when I’m stressed and no one knows. I’m sure if Liam found out he would kill me. I place the cigarette in my mouth and light it. I take a long drag of it and instantly feel a little less stressed. The small amount of heat coming off the end warms my nose a little bit.
‘Well this is certainly new.’ The voice makes me jump and I almost drop my cigarette. How does he always find me and catch me off guard?
I turn around against my will as I don’t want to have to face him again. Harry is a few steps away from me, he is good at sneaking up on people and does it too me far too often.
‘If you were mine I would never let you do that bird.’ Harry closes the gap between us, takes the cigarette out of my hand and crushes it in his before dropping it too the floor.
I feel my heart drop at the mention of my old nickname he used for me. Before I have the chance to move Harry takes my left hand into his right and starts to gently rub his fingers over my two rings. I bite my lip in anticipation of what his next move is going to be. The problem with Harry is his mood could change in the matter of moments.
‘It should be me.’ Harry mumbles.
‘Well it’s not boo.’ Harry’s eyes close as I use his own tactics against him in using his old nickname.
Harry’s eyes reopen and they are starting to water. He raises my hand to his lips and places a soft kiss over my rings before letting go of my hand and walking away.
I fight the urge to call after him as he walks out of the alleyway and away from me.
