Harry:

"Harry?" My mom asked, her eyes clouded over with tears as I stood in the doorway, one of my bags slung over my shoulder.

I turned my head back around to face her, raising an eyebrow. "Yes, Mum?"

She gave a small smile, which seemed to be forced. "Take care. I love you."

Despite the circumstances, I smiled back at her. "I love you too." Those were the last words I spoke to my mother, before turning around and walking over to my car. Where the girl waited for me in the passenger seat.

She was staring straight ahead, her body rigid. Mum had let her wash up, that way while we'd pass cars on our way, whatever our way really was, she wouldn't draw too much attention.

I slid into the driver's seat, tossing my bag behind me into the back seat. After slipping my seat belt over my plain black shirt, I turned slightly to look at the girl. Who was already looking a me. "Where to?" I asked simply, inhaling deeply.

The girl shrugged. "I guess we'll both know when we get there. You're driving." I gaped at her before turning back around in my seat, falling back into it.

"You're kidding," I spoke again, turning my head this time to look at her.

She shook hers in response. At first. "No, I'm not. If I was dri-"

"So you want to drive?" I asked, unbuckling my seat belt and getting ready to step out of the car.

"No." She spoke again, resting her forehead against the glass window. "Go north."

I gaped at her again while slowly rebuckling myself in the car. "Just north?"

"You'll know to stop when you see it," she shrugged, her eyes closing. It was in that moment that I noticed how at ease she seemed. It was as if she was use to this. Killing a guy and driving off with the guys wives son. But she looked.. peaceful, almost as if she'd died and was ready to be driven to heaven.

I held in the urge to gently caress her cheek and pull her into my chest. She looked vulnerable and it was then, with all I had in my body, that I felt, despite everything that had been happening, and so fast, that I had to protect her. And I knew I would.

I clicked my seat belt in, turning in the driver's seat and starting the car. I glanced at her one last time, noticing she still hadn't moved, despite the car roaring to life, and turned to the road, taking off in the north.

"It's not polite to stare, by the way," Devin spoke softly. Her voice carrying through the car like a light tune as small drops of rain started to drip onto the car.

A light blush crept onto my cheeks, a hot pink covering them. "S-Sorry.." I mumbled, to which Devin laughed, near silently.

This was going to be a long car ride.
