Birthdays
Every time it's the main character's birthday se either forgets until like 2 days before hand or she doesn't like celebrating it so she keeps it a secret from her friends (the boys) then they end up knowing it's her birthday anyways and either throw her a surprise party, have a little 'party' day at someone's house or basically force her to go out clubbing
Well I don't know about you but when it's my birthday i start counting down the days like 2 months beforehand and I let everyone know so they can buy me presants ;)

I agree about the whole making the girlfriends seem like total bitches is wrong... some people r just jealous of them
