That Night

I'm walking in the freezing cold with no jacket or ride. Cars speed by splashing me with water lightly. I wished that the weather man was somewhat correct from time to time. but I was stupid enough to believe him. More cars drive by me quickly. Then all the sudden a black Pontiac Solstice pulls over to the side. I slowly creep up to the side of the car and the window rolls down.

"Do you need a ride?" A voice yells out of the sports car.

I peek inside the sports car, and see a very attractive, handsome, and young guy. I immediately start to think that this is some joke. "yes, that would be great." I answer slowly approaching the passenger side door, thinking this guy would just drive off, but to my surprise he didn't. I open the door cautiously, and slip (literally) inside the seat. He chuckles, and starts to drive. I sneak a glance at the guy.

"Where are you going, Love?" He inquires.

I giggle at the very sexy accent and reply, "A couple of blocks down the road. It's the ugly yellow house on the corner. It's not hard to miss." When in my mind, I was wanting to say in your bed.

We drove in silence till he ran a stop sign.

"I'm glad there was no police patrolling the area." I say a little annoyed.

"Even if there were, I wouldn't of stopped." He said with a wink.

I roll my eyes at his recklessness. Thankfully, we finally arrived at my house safely, and out of danger. I'm quick to jump for the door handle and thank him for giving me a ride home. I got out and closed the door behind me. I ran up the porch and through the front door. Relieved that I got here in one piece. My mother comes out of the kitchen with a dish towel in her hands.

"Who was that?" My mother asks with concern.

"Umm..." I say trying to remember who, but instead I come up a blank.

"Um what?"

"I didn't quite catch his name."

"You mean you took a ride from a complete stranger?"

"Nooo, but now that you put it that way, I guess I did."

"You're lucky you got home with your life."

"As you can see, I am just as fine as I was before when I left the house."

She huffed and returned to the kitchen. I went up stairs and got ready for bed. When I was completely ready, I slipped into bed. I quickly drifted off to sleep and for once actually got a good night's rest.
