Breaking Boundaries

Summary

I throw my phone back into my purse as I unlock the door to my house and open the door. As I walk in, the smell of food instantly goes up my nostrils making my mouth water from the delious smell of my favorite food my mom cooks. I immediately drop my purse onto the couch and walk into the kitchen, impatiently trying to get my food.

"hey mommy." I hug her tightly as she stands over the stove preparing my favorite dish. She quickly turns around and kisses my forehead.

"hello sweetie. How was your day?" She turns back around as I pull my coat off hanging it onto the hangers and walk into the dining room where me and my mom usually have dinner together.

"It was go-" I stand there shocked and wide eyes as I see two males sitting at the table looking at me. One was old, full head of gray hair but not old looking gray hair, that nice shiny new looking gray hair.

And the other one who was sitting just a seat away from the old one looked young. Probably around my age but a little older maybe. His head was full of chocolate curls that's moved swiftly everytime he did.

Maybe there's just a couple of mommys friends?

I take a seat across from the two males as they stared at me. The old one was smiling but the young one stared at me... Everytime I looked at him, he would roll his eyes so I did the same.

"Maya, I asked you how your day wa-" She also stopped in the middle of her sentence as she looked back and forth at me and the two boys. She mouthed something to the old guy but I couldn't make out what she said. My eyes went back and forth from the both of them as mom sighed and sat the food on the table making no eye contact with me.

"Maya, this is Jeff. Jeff this is Maya." The old one I'm guessing was Jeff, stood up from his seat and walked over to me shaking my hand and kissing my cheek slightly. I gave him a small smile as he returned back to his seat. I was still confused on what was going on.

"And Maya this is Harry. Your step brother." I stood up instantly from my seat and gave my mother a confused look on what was happening. What did she mean this boy was my step brother?

"What do you mean mom?" I say angrily at her. Jeff stood next to my mom and held her hand, making me more confused by the minute."

"Harry is Jeff's son, Jeff is my finance, your step dad." No, no, no... This can't be happening I think to myself. It's always been me and my mom, no one else and it's going to stay that way, no matter what.

"What do you mean mom?" I say once again. She was advoiding the big question I've been asking her. I watched as a wide smile spreaded across her face as she held up her hand in my face blocking me from seeing anything instead of that ring that was laying on her ring finger.

"Me and Jeff are getting married." This can not be happening.
