Something You Want to Forget About
Someone Who Cares
Ameina sighed. “I…”
Niall looked worried. “You don’t deserve this.” He mumbled.
Ameina, feeling like there was no way to escape Niall asking her why she cuts, told him the whole story; her mother, her sister, bullies. When she finished, Niall looked quite astonished.
“Why would you do that?” he asked anxiously. Ameina didn’t answer. “Aren’t you going to eat your ice cream?” Niall questioned.
“I – I’m not hungry. You can have it.” Ameina told. Niall took the cone from her hand and started to lick the ice cream. “We should get back.” Niall suggested.
Ameina nodded. They both walked back to Niall’s house.
She quite wanted to forget meeting Niall. Sure, he’s nice and all, and he wants to help her – but at the same time she doesn’t want help. She wants to continue. She doesn’t know exactly why.
Niall pulled open a drawer in the kitchen, taking out a small bottle of betadine, cotton, and a few bandages. He unscrewed the cap of the betadine.
Ameina knew what he was going to do.
He put some of the betadine on the cotton and pat it on Ameina’s cuts. She felt a little sting, but ignored it. He put the bandages on her scars.
“Thank you,” Ameina sighed, “but I think I’ll have to go home now.”
“I’ll drive you home.” Niall took her hand and went in the car, Ameina giving him directions to her house. Besides that, Niall was giving Ameina some advice to stop cutting.
“It won’t be worth it,” he says, “look at yourself. You’ll regret it in the future, I guarantee. Think about it before you decide to cut.”
Ameina just stood silent. She appreciates that Niall is worried about her, but she’s not sure whether he’s right about it.
He cares, she thought, he really cares.
Niall parked in front of Ameina’s house, and got out to open the car door for her.
“Remember what I told you,” Niall reminded, sounding desperate, “you’re a beautiful person. You have to know that.”
Before leaving, Niall quickly gave Ameina a shy kiss on the cheek. “Call me later.” He said before saying goodbye and driving off.
Finally – someone who cares.
