A Day to Remember (A Liam Payn One Shot)

“Breathe Dayja, breath…” she thought to herself as she looked at her disheveled reflection in the mirror.

“I’m getting married today,” she said to herself; a large, genuine smile growing on her face. A large breath escaped her lips that she didn't know she was holding in.

As Dayja walked towards her closet, reality finally hit her; she would be marrying the love of her lie in a few short hours, the Mr. Liam Payne…and soon she would be Mrs. Dayja Payne. She looked around her room for the special sweatpants that her younger sister had bought her just for this day. They said “HOT MAMA” in glitter on the butt. She giggled when she saw the pile of grey sweats in the corner of her room, laid neatly across a chair. She picked up the soft fabric and smiled looking at the sparkly bum.

She flipped the radio on and started dancing while warming up the shower. As she sang along to, the ironic, Marry Me, she slipped out of her wrinkled pajamas and headed towards the bathroom.

When she opened to the shower, she noticed a small card wrapped in a plastic bag, which was probably to keep it from getting wet. She carefully picked it up and immediately recognized the handwriting to Liam’s. She took the delicate note out of the bag and scanned over the perfectly written words.

It is our wedding
Today is our wedding day
It is our wedlock
Greet with pleasure
Wed with love
Wed with Truth
Wed with eternity
Wed with sincerity
Wed with honesty.

It is our wedding
Every day is a wedding day
It is new everyday
Every day is a lovely
And beautiful day
No matter it is what day
But it is wedding day
It is love-day
It is Truthful-day.

She read the last stanza with an enormous grim on her face. Placing the letter to her heart she looked over at the picture of her and Li sitting on the sink. A content sigh escaped her lips. She placed the note on the counter and stepped into the steamy shower; all of her worries melting off of her body. She scrubbed and shaved all of the necessary places, wrapped a towel around her torso and stepped out the shower.

After pulling on her sweats and putting her hair into a messy bun, she went downstairs to be met with the bright smile of her younger sister. She was holding a coffee, a bagel, and a garment bag with my gorgeous gown peeking through the clear part at the top of the bag.

“Come on Day! We have to get to the hotel!” She yelled at me while walking out the door with my food. I followed after her and got into the car, immediately grabbing the bagel and moaning in satisfaction as she took the first bite. The drive was long but Dayja’s sister kept the two occupied with her obnoxiously loud singing.

Before letting Dayja get out of the car, her sister handed her another not from Liam and left the car, leaving her in the car to read the new poem…

I share in the joy of my friends
While the air is filled with songs
To love, to love and a wedding
Blessed are the lives of friends
I share in their smiles quite often
For their humor is a narcotic
It infiltrates almost every thought
Induces many a joyful memory
In an addictive fashion I realize
The excited talk and anticipation
To love, to love and a wedding
Is something private shared
An intimate union of two
Shared with those close and loved
The glasses raised in celebration
The smiles and the laughter
What joy it has been to share
In the joy of my friends
Who sing of love and the song
To love, to love and a wedding

She got out of the car holding the poem close to her chest. She quickly met up with her sister and the rest of the bridesmaids to get ready for her big day.

She slipped into the makeup chair, grabbed a glass of chardonnay and started her transformation. Her eyebrows were plucked, her legs freshly shaven, a light layer of foundation was applied to her face, and a rosy tint covered her cheek bones. She looked in the mirror at herself, creating a smile that would blind a city, and a single happy tear rolled down her cheek. She focused her sight on the lovely white gown hanging in the back of the room. ‘Time for main event,’ she thought to herself. Here sister helped her into the dress as her their mother walked into the room.

“It’s almost time de,” she gasped when she turned. She had never seen her daughter so radiant before; she practically glowed with happiness.

“I have the last touch,” Dayja’s mother pulled a gorgeous diamond necklace from a long velvet box.

“My grandmother put this around my neck, my mother placed in on mine, I will place it on you, and soon you shall give it to your sister. Where these jewels with pride. Our family is filled with prideful women… You look absolutely stunning; I love you girls with all my heart. I am sad to see my little Dayja being taken away from me…*she wipes away a few tears*… but I’m glad Liam is the one to do it.” Her mother finished, pulling the girls in a group hug. When they regained their composure, everyone was handed a bouquet and they head down the hall. One after another, the bridesmaids walked down the aisle.

Finally it was Dayja’s turn. She linked arms with her father and slowly, but surely, walked towards Liam’s smiling face.

“Hi,” Liam said when his fiancé reached him. He grabbed her hands in his as the long ceremony began.

“If I ever push you away, I don’t really mean to. When I tell you I don’t want to talk about it I do, I’m just looking for the right words. Give me a minute and if I can tell you I will. When I get really quiet sometimes, it is because I have too much to say. I have thought of too many things to tell you all at once and I don’t know what to say first. I get immaturely jealous of anyone who gets to see you on a daily basis because I miss you really easily. But I also like that we can be apart and we’re both okay. Space is another good thing…I love the way we love the same things and I love how we love entirely different things as well… I am a flawed person with a flawed heart; I am broken but I am trying and I love you with every piece of my heart and I am so glad you are here…” Dayja finished her vows. Beautiful, happy tears streamed down, not only her face, but down Liam’s as well. They just smiled at each other, letting the priest finish.

Dayja and Liam, you have professed your love by exchanging your vows. You have symbolized your commitment by exchanging rings. And you have expressed the end of your individual lives by the pouring of the unity sand. With all of this there is just one more question I need each of you to answer and then we’re off to the reception to celebrate…

Dayja, do you take Liam to be your husband; to live together in the covenant of marriage? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, be faithful to him as long as you both shall live?”

I do.” You say eagerly.

“Liam, do you take Dayja to be your wife; to live together in the covenant of marriage? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, be faithful to her as long as you both shall live?"

I do.” Liam said with a large, cheesy grin plastered on his face.

By the power vested in me I now pronounce you husband and wife. Liam you may kiss your bride.” Liam grabs his new wife be the waist and pulls her close. His right hand lifts to cup her face as he leans in for a slow passionate kiss…

It’s my great honor and privilege to be the first to present to you Mr. and Mrs. Liam James Payne!” Everyone started cheering as Liam picked D up bridal style, obviously, and ran down the aisle.

After the partying and food the tow newlyweds sat peacefully in the airport awaiting their honeymoon.

“So Li, where are we going?” D asks looking up at him with her best puppy dog eyes. He just holds up a finger signaling you to ‘wait a second’ then she hears something spectacular come over the loud speakers.

“Flight 1437 to Paris, France will be boarding shortly.”
She gasped and engulfed Liam in a huge hug and peppered his face in kisses…this is going to be amazing…
