Out of the Darkness
Stay with me
Samantha's POV:
That night, I lay in my bed in the guest room reflecting on my day. I had such a great time getting to know Perrie and Eleanor, and the evening had flown by.
I am so grateful to have a place here with the such a caring group of people. I snuggle down into the covers, smiling as I think about beating Harry’s ass at air hockey today. Soon I drift off into a deep sleep.
I sit in the car next to Harry, my hands clasped tight in my lap as we speed into the night. His eyes are cold and black, and he won’t even look at me.
Harry won’t tell me where we are going. His whole body is tense, and his face is dark and serious. We are driving way too fast to be safe, but I am too scared to say anything. My heart is racing in fear of this 'new' Harry. All of a sudden, Harry slams onto the brakes and the car screeches to a halt.
I hear a click as the lock on my door releases.
“Get out now.” Says Harry, his voice dripping with coolness. My hands tremble in my lap as I undo the seatbelt and step out of the car.
“H-Harry?” I ask, my voice breaking as I search his face for a sign, trying to recognize the old Harry in his now darkened eyes. He leans over the passenger seat, and grasps the handle to my open door. The smile which spreads over his face is evil, and his eyes are black.
“You’re all alone now, aren’t you Samantha? No one’s going to save you this time. No one wants you Samantha.” He says coolly before slamming the door shut and speeding off. My breath hitches in my throat as I hold in the tears which threaten to fall. He’s right. I have no one. Slowly I turn around to face the building where Harry has dropped me off. I let out a gasp. Harry left me in front of the orphanage. I let a tear fall as I remember all of the terrible experiences that I have had here. But now I can't even call that cold stone building home. I have nothing.
A slight movement to my right catches my eye, and I focus on a dark figure moving towards me in the shadows of the sidewalk. My feet are rooted on the spot as I watch the figure stop at the edge of the shadows, his face still concealed.
“It’s been a long time, hasn’t it… Samantha?” He says in a voice that sends chills up and down my spine. The figure then steps into the light of the streetlamp. My knees go weak as I see the face of the person standing before me.
“Reid?” I ask, my voice trembling.
“That’s right Sammy, remember me?” He asks, grinning wickedly. “Now, here’s the deal,” he says, taking a step towards me. “You are the reason why my mom and dad are dead, and now, I’m going to kill you, fair and square.” He pulls a knife out of his pocket and starts advancing towards me. Fear shoots through my body. Oh my god, he’s going to kill me. I turn to run, only to see another figure coming at me from the other direction.
It’s Reid’s friend. The one who raped me. His smile says it all as he pulls out a knife from his belt, eyes locked on me. His prize.
Once again I turn, and run to the only place left to run. I sprint up the steps to the orphanage. I bang on the door desperately, with every last ounce of energy I have. I look through the window by the door, and my breath catches in my throat. All of the children are gathered in the entryway. They are all staring straight at me with blank faces and black eyes.
“Help me!” I yell, frantically. “Help me! Help me.” My cries die into desperate whispers as I realize that none of them are going to help me. The children who I have grown to love are going to watch me die.
Reid and his friend have reached the bottom of the steps.
My eyes lock onto those of the Matron’s, pleading. She slowly shakes her head back and forth.
“You’re not welcome here Samantha,” she says through the glass.
And then they are upon me.
I wake up sobbing alone in my bed. I curl up onto my side, shaking with fear as sobs rack my body. My heart is aching with a deeper loneliness than I have never experienced before. Suddenly the door to my room bangs open, and strong arms wrap around my waist.
“Shhh, Samantha, you’re okay. Samantha I’m here now, it was just a dream. Shhhh,” Says a voice in a thick Irish accent. Niall crawls into my bed, holding me close to him. Grateful for his company I lean into him, sobbing into his chest. His hand rubs up and down my back, and he holds me as I cry. Slowly my sobs subside. My body calms down, and a deep exhaustion settles over me.
“Niall?” I murmur,
“Mhm?”
“Stay with me? Please?” I ask in a whisper, looking up at him with my teary eyes.
“Of course sweetheart,” He says, rubbing my back, and sliding into a more comfortable position as he lays down and wraps his arms around me. I sigh with content, and lay my head on his chest, safe in his arms. I let myself go, and my eyes close once more.
Notes
What do you think? Niall is being so sweet, but what about Harry?!
Will harry be mad that Niall is sharing a bed with Sam?
When are they going to catch Sam's brother so she can stop worrying about him?
I apologize for my rant earlier today... I had an absolutely terrible day, and i guess i just had to let it out. haha but anyways.... I will be putting up ANOTHER update in the next few mins! enjoy!
