The Coven

Chapter One

I always knew I was different but I never knew I was dangerous. I walked through puddles of blood spread out on to the cold hardwood floor. Red footprints following my every step. A mirror catches my attention on a near by wall. I stare at the figure trapped behind the glass. It was my reflection, but not my features. My deep brown eyes are now a captivating shade of blue that almost looked silver. My typically light pink lips are stained a dark maroon. The hair that fell straight down the sides of my face being an almost white color with a silver tint matching my eyes had no resemblance to my originally dark brown hair that curled in multiple directions.
The reflection is evil, I can feel it as the corners of hers lips curl up. But the devious smile doesn't scare me; it cause a flood of passion to run through me. I could feel the power coursing through my veins.
"Nymphadora, Nymphadora..." a whisper calls my name from behind me but my eyes are still captivated by my reflective twin.
"Nymphadora!" My eyes flash open to my sister standing over me with a smile on her face. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" She yells in my face. I pull my blanket over my eyes and grunt with the hope of her to get the point that I really don't care.
"Come on get up! Mom made breakfast." she climbs into bed next to me and slides under the covers besides me. She lays her head on my shoulder and watches me.
"Same dream?" she asks, already knowing the answer. I've had the same dream on and off for the last three weeks. Everytime that I appeared in the dream something new was revealed.
"What happened this time?" I turned my head and looked her in the eyes. The same eyes as mine but slightly lighter.
"I liked it." I said as I pushed the blanket off of me and jump from my bed to the cold wood floor. The sensation brought me back to my dream for a slight second.
"Wow freaky. You know maybe Grandma Luna isn't crazy. Maybe you are the great one." she said as she crouched her shoulder forward and wiggles her fingers in my face as if she were casting a spell. I roll my eyes at her remark as I walk over to my table and check on my plants and herbs.
"Grandma Luna is crazy. She told me to drink the blood of crocodiles in order to help with dry skin." I turn around and look at her face as I watch her remember that event.
"Hey I still love her but im not going around no crocs just to moisturize." I turn back toward my plants and pick off a piece of lavender.
"Okay whatever. Do you feel any different?" Amelia asks as she crawls off of my bed a walks over to stand next to me. I take a stick and stare at the tip until a spark catches and the flame begins to burn.
"No." I say as I try to concentrate.
" I wish I could do that." I turn and smile at her. I bring the flame to the plant and let it burn.
"Shit, im out of clover. Hey can you stall mom while I go grab some more." I say as I run into my closet and throw on a dress and some shoes.http://www.polyvore.com/nymphadoras_chapter/set?id=100909423
"Um yeah sure but don't take too long there's a surprise for you downstairs." she yells out to me as I climb out my window and onto the roof. I carefully walk along the bricks over to a near by ladder that I occasionally use in these situations.
New Orleans, my home, the place I was born, but not the place im from. Salem Massachusetts is where my family originates from but that's a story for another day.
As I walk down the street past multiple shops and homes I wave to the people. They respect my family. We help them and they help us. They come to us with their problems and they keep their mouths shut about ours. Its a relationship built upon trust. Course the other children were never allowed to play with my sister and I. Oh and no dates with the local boys because of they were to like me then I must have put a love spell on them. I never said it was a good relationship. Oh and I never said that they people waved back at me when I did at them.
I walk a few blocks to my favorite garden to picks some four leaf clovers. They're great for the lungs, if you know what you're doing.
I crouch down and start to pick them. After about ten I stand up to head home.
"Wow your really good at finding ones with four leaves?" said a voice from behind me. I turn around and become face to face with a guy. He had wavy brown hair with green eyes. I have never seen him before and I know everyone in town.
"Yeah well we all have our own little talents." I smile at him and walk away slightly weirded out but at the same time I can't get his face out of my head.
As I turn a corner I realize that someone has been following me. And then I pick up the sent. My heart beats a little fast as I turn another corner into an alley. I spin around and push the person following me against the solid brick wall causing them to let out a loud breath. Its the same guys who commented on my clover picking.
"Who are you and why are you following me!?" I ask hoping I don't have to take him back to my mother. He looks at me and smiles.
"Who are you!?" I ask again, slamming his head against the wall with my hand around his neck.
"H-H-H-Harry." he coughs out. I can't stand the wretched stench he was giving off. I decide he is a guest best suited for mother.
" Ashla." I speak the word and his eyes close as he passes out.
"Macara" I say the words and his body stand up on its own.
"Walk!" I command the body. I lead it back to my house hoping mother can figure it out.
