Losing It
"What do you mean fatal?"

"Ugh! Like why does life have to by so sucky?" I asked, crying, continuously eating my ice cream.
Yeah. Sara had just found out that her boyfrien- wait, no, EX-boyfriend was cheating on her. With Natalie. And yeah, I'm on my period. So we're both pretty emotional right now. We had my house to ourselves. My parents are on a business meeting in Shreveport today, so they won't be home until around midnight. Which means girls night. Finally, my crying had cleared up at bit, when I heard a knock at the door. Perfect timing, I thought.
I opened the door, seeing a policeman on the front steps.
"Can I help you officer?" I asked as politely as I could.
"Um, yes, are you Lauren Payne?" He asked, flipping through some paperwork.
"Yes sir! Is there a problem?" I asked confused.
"Miss Payne, your parents have been involved in a fatal car accident."
"What?" I asked, tears brimming my eyes. This can't be happening.
"I'm very sorry, Miss Payne, but your parents are at the Stanford Parish Hospital." He said apologetically.
"Yes. Thank you." I said, not making eye contact and closing the door.
"Who was that?" Sara asked as I walked back into the living room.
"Mom and Dad were in a wreck. The policeman said it was fatal. They're at the hospital. Are you coming?" I asked hastily as I slipped on my orange Chacos.
"Yeah I'm coming." She said, grabbing her shoes and walking out to my car.
