Harry’s P.O.V

I woke up with something really cold against my body. I opened my eyes and looked down to see Maddie lying next to me. I put my hand on her arm and she was freezing. I pulled her closer to me and wrapped my arms tightly around her in an attempt to warm her up. I moved all the covers onto her and she didn’t move once. “Maddie.” I shook her. She opened her eyes and started shivering violently. “Are you okay?” I asked. “I’m cold, and I feel really sick.” She got out of bed and ran into the bathroom. I heard her throw up and then went in after her. “Ouch.” She said holding her stomach. “Have you eaten anything recently?” I questioned. “Not really…” She confessed. “Stay in bed and I’ll go and make you something but there is no way you’re going to Uni today.” I told her. “Okay…” She sighed going back to bed. I went downstairs and made her some breakfast and took it back to her. “Here, eat this.” I handed it to her. She smiled and started to eat it. Half way through she stopped. “I’m full…” She told me. “You have to eat babe.” I sat next to her. “I’m really not hungry Harry.” She said. I nodded and took the plate from her. “Stay in bed okay, I’ll get you some clothes.” I went into the closet and got her a jumper and sweatpants. I gave them to her and she put them on over her pyjamas. “Why are you so cold?” I asked. “I can’t control my body temperature, since I had Brooklyn I haven’t been able to control it.” She explained. “Why haven’t you told me before?” “I didn’t want to worry you, I’m fine, honestly.” She said. I nodded. “I’m going to go and get your stuff from your apartment, you stay here okay?” I kissed her head. “Okay,” She smiled going back to sleep. I ran down the stairs and out of the door but instead of going to her apartment I went to Louis and El’s quickly. I walked in and they were cuddling on the couch. “What’s up?” Louis turned to me. “Maddie’s ill and I’m gonna go and get her stuff from her apartment so can one of you just text her regularly to check she’s okay?” I said. “Yeah sure, now go, you’re interrupting kid free time.” Louis said. El and I laughed and I went outside and got into my car. I drove to the apartments and ran up to Maddie’s. I unlocked the door and was shocked at what I saw. “Woah.” Danielle said from behind me. “No wonder she wouldn’t let me in.” She continued. “Oh. My. God.” I said walking over to the window and opening the curtains. Once the curtains were opened I could see more clearly. “Is that…blood?” Danielle pointed at a red trail on the carpet. “Probably, I made her like this…” I sighed. “Don’t blame yourself, we shouldn’t have told her. I’ll help you clear up.” She said. I nodded and walked into Maddie’s bedroom. It wasn’t as bad as the living room. I packed everything up into suitcases and then went into the bathroom. “Danielle!!” I screamed when I saw it. “What?” Dani ran in. “Jeez, how much blood has she lost??” “A lot. She’s cutting again and I know it. Would explain why she was so cold this morning.” “This can’t be good for your baby.” She looked around. “I know… I’d be surprised if it was still alive after the amount of blood she has lost.” I muttered walking further into the bathroom. I found a knife with blood on it. “I’ve found her blade… Anyone would think she’s murdered someone.” I said picking up her stuff. I packed everything else in her apartment into suitcases and Danielle helped me put them in my car. “She can cope with just one car for now.” I said shutting the boot. “I’ll see you later; don’t have a go at her. She was upset.” “I’m not going to. But I am going to find out where she cut.” I got into my car. “Bye.” Danielle said. I shut the door and drove off home. I emptied my car into the house and ran up the stairs to Maddie. She was lying awake in bed. “Where did you cut?” I asked sitting next to her. “Nowhere.” She said. “Then why is there blood all over your apartment and on a knife?” I said. “I was going to but I stopped. I cut my wrist a few times but I stopped when I passed out. I lost a lot of blood Harry. I’m scared…” She cried. “Ssh, you’re with me now, it’s going to be okay, I’ve got you.” I hugged her. “We need to go to the doctors though.” I said. She looked up at me with tears in her eyes. “Why?” She asked. “You’ve lost so much blood, I don’t know if the baby will still be alive…” I admitted. “I’m so sorry Harry.” She said. “It’s okay, let’s go.” I stood up. She got out of bed and nearly fell over. “See, you’ve lost too much blood that you can barely even stand up.” I told her. She walked to me and I picked her up and took her downstairs and then went back up for Brooke. We got in the car and went to the hospital; I decided that she actually needs to get fully checked out. We went inside and I told the receptionist and they got someone to help her straight away. “What happened, Madeline?” The doctor asked. She explained everything and he took her for an ultrasound. After about 10 minutes the doctor came back. “Do you want to come and see your baby? It’s doing fine despite the blood loss and should continue to grow well.” He said to me. I smiled and stood up carrying Brooklyn and followed him into the room. Maddie was sitting on the bed and I sat next to her with Brooke on my lap and held her hand. “Your baby will be okay, but Maddie, you need to eat to keep your strength up. Never mind any of that I’m full nonsense, you eat. And I want you to make sure she eats.” He looked at me. I nodded and we talked for a bit and then left. “You really need to keep your strength up babe.” I told her helping her into the car. “I know I do but I honestly don’t like food.” She confessed whilst I put Brooke in. I walked to my side and got in, driving home. “Why?” I looked at her. “I just don’t, I can’t keep it down.” “Why not?” “I don’t know,” She said. “Okay, well you’re going to have to work on keeping it down then aren’t you?” “Yeah,” she said. “I promise I’ll be with you every single step of the way.” I told her. “Thanks…” She said faintly. I looked at her and she was really pale. We got back home and I helped her inside and got Brooke out, put her down to crawl around and made Maddie some food. She ate some of it and then pushed it away from her. “Eat Maddie.” I said pushing it back. She sighed and ate the rest of it. “I hate food.” She said when she had finished. “Well, you look better now, do you feel better?” I asked. “Yeah,” She smiled. “Then it worked.” I said just as the post came through the door. There was a letter for me and two for Maddie. I handed Maddie hers and watched as she opened it. “This one is from Brooke.” She said holding it up. She opened it and I saw a couple of pictures of what looked like a football match. She looked at them and shut the envelope quickly. “Give.” I held my hand out. She sighed and handed it to me. I pulled the pictures out of the envelope. There was a picture of Maddie in a blue football kit, a picture of her scoring a goal and another of her playing in her kit with a young Faye. “Awhhh,” I said. “You never told me you played football. What can’t you do?” I questioned. “I didn’t. I played soccer.” She told me with a smirk on her face. “Yeah, yeah, my little American.” I smiled at her and she laughed. “How old were you?” I asked. “18.” She told me. “So that makes Faye 5,” “Yep, she lost.” Maddie laughed. “Couldn’t let her win could you?” “I was very competitive. I played for all my school teams, my college team and for California girls.” She stood up and walked over to me. I read the note on the pictures. ‘Found these the other day, I can’t find your shirt though so you must have that, love you lots sis, Brooke.’ Maddie read it too and smiled. “What’s your letter?” She asked opening her other one. I opened it and it was an invitation to go on Ellen next week. “An Ellen invitation, what about yours?” “Same!! Next Tuesday?” She squealed. “Yeah.” I smiled. “Looks like we’re going on Ellen.” She said to me. “Not if you’re not eating properly still.” I warned her. She sighed and went to the cupboard to get more food. Once she had finished she turned to me with a serious look on her face, “What?” I asked, confused. “If I can play a full game of football with the girls against you and the lads, you let me go on Ellen and stop worrying about me.” She said. “Okay, yeah, deal. But if you start to feel ill you stop okay?” She nodded and I called the boys. “They’re all coming with Pez, Dani and Eleanor, we’re gonna get ready here and play in Louis’ garden so the kids can stay inside his house.” “Okay, that’s fine.” She went upstairs and I laughed at her eagerness. She came back down fully dressed in her blue kit with her boots in her hand. “You still have it?” “This is my lucky kit, I’m not getting rid of this!!” She laughed as there was a knock on the door. El and Louis were there dressed in sportswear with the twins. “Feeling better then?” El asked Maddie hugging her. “Yes thanks. I went to the hospital to get everything checked out and I’m fine now.” She said. Then Zayn and Perrie turned up. “You realise, if you lose to us, you lose to a pregnant woman, someone who had twins one month ago, the most girly person ever and well, 4 girls.” Perrie pointed out. The guys laughed and Liam, Dani and Niall turned up. “Isn’t this a bit unfair, 4 against 5 and one of the 4 is pregnant?” “But that pregnant one used to play for California.” Maddie said. Everyone laughed and we warmed up.
