The Girl At The Rock Show
London, Coffee, and Purple Hair
“PERRIE!”Emmerson screamed, causing her boyfriend, Skylar, to jump and quite nearly drop the phone he had his face buried in moments ago.
Emmerson ran over to her best friend, all the energy she had lacked from the early morning arrival of her plane sucked back into her.
“Em, I’ve missed you so much!” Perrie exclaimed, greeted her with a big grin of bold makeup while pale purple hair fell tiredly over her shoulder. A pale, studded jean jacket wore over a faded, black Metallica band shirt adorned her torso while tattered grey skinny jeans and electric blue combat boots covered her bottom half. She was always seen as someone far more hardcore as normal people, and one who wore it well.
Skylar watched with a laugh escaping his mouth as he witnessed the two hug tightly and rock back and forth and then scream some more. After he thought he had given the two enough reunion time, he walked over.
“Hey Perrie.” He said casually, placing his arm around Emmerson protectively. Perrie struggled putting a smile on her face when she turned her attention to him. A moment of the past flashed by in her head when they all lived in Brighton while going to college before they all eventually dropped out. Skylar had tried to kiss her while he was still dating Emmerson and she had never forgiven him. Emmerson took it as a strike, as if it only matters if he does it more. Or, does it more that she’s aware of, rather.
Perrie only gave him a faint smile before turning her attention back to Emmerson.
“Oh Emmie, it’s so terribly early! Want to come crash at my place until later in the day?” Her excitement still in her voice as she spoke with adoration towards her best friend.
“We can take the luggage back there, but I don’t find sleep necessary. How ‘bout we hit a nice coffee shoppe on the way?” Emmerson suggested, her American accent standing out in a place filled with English citizens.
Sky slid his hand down Emmerson’s arm until their fingers laced together and they began to walk to luggage. The three weren’t an odd pair, all on the grunge side or punk even. Skylar was tall with soft blue eyes, although they gave a hard stare. His hair was dark and fluffy, a good medium length ending just above his ears, and quite a lovely jaw line.
The girl in his grip didn’t look the slightest bit out of place at his side. Emmerson had pin-straight almost golden brown hair that she always wore under a beanie with a nose ring hooked on her nostril. Her outfit consisted of high waisted shorts and a baggy white t-shirt that she had cut the sleeves off to reveal a rainbow striped bandeau underneath.
After retrieving their luggage they all climbed into Perrie’s red jaguar (perks of being a member in a group that won a TV show). On the way to Perrie’s favourite local coffee shoppe she was taking the two to, she was on the phone with her boyfriend.
“Zayn is going to be meeting us at the shoppe! You two- er, three- can finally meet!” She squealed excitedly as she hung up, although Skylar knew it wasn’t for him to meet this ever so lovely “Zayn” that she was looking forward to.
“That sounds lovely!” Emmerson replied, matching the energy levels in her voice.
Pulling up to the tiny store on the corner of a little colourful town with bright signs and pastel houses and blooming flowers hanging off street lamps, Em looked around with wide eyes. The other two giggled. “It’s so cute!” she continued to explain as they walked into the building.
When they walked in, both Sky and Emmerson instantly recognized a face they had only seen on TV or pictures provided by Perrie.
“You must be Zayn!” Emmie cheekily said walking up to the table he sat at and held out her hand.
“That I am. And you must be the wonderful Emmerson that I’ve heard so much about.” He said back with a grin, taking her hand.
The four sat down after everyone ordered and received their coffee. Both Zayn and Skylar were known to not be afraid to show off their girlfriends and out of habit both placed their non-occupied hand around their girl and their other on their coffee.
“It really is lovely meeting you. You’re about all Per had been talking about for weeks.” Zayn laughed lightly. Emmerson thought she must’ve blushed because she felt Skylar stiffen.
“Well I can’t say it isn’t wondourful meeting you as well. Not only are you my best friend’s boyfriend, but I happen to be a rather big fan of One Direction too.” With that he laughed.
Continuing small talk and telling stories of when the three were in college or reliving how Perrie and Zayn had met (not that the whole world doesn’t know it), they eventually finished their coffee and headed down the street to Perrie’s apartment.
“Sky, you wouldn’t mind staying at Zayn’s would you? It’s just up the road. And we could use a little girl time too.” Perrie asked politely, turning around and giving him a convincingly sweet smile. He hesitated before agreeing.
As they parted ways, Skylar made sure to pull Emmerson in to him and give her a long kiss right on the steps of Perrie’s apartment building. It took until the doorman cleared his throat for him to pull away and follow Zayn triumphantly down the pavement.
By the time the girls were inside the apartment, it was near 10:00am.
“I’ve really missed you, Boo.” Emmerson said, pulling Perrie into another more meaningful hug.
“Me too.” She responded, hugging back tightly.
“Oh you’ll never guess what I have planned for tonight!” Perrie exclaimed as they both pulled away, hands still together.
“What!” Emmerson urged on.
“A concert here of One Direction from backstage!” The two squealed.
Emmerson thought about tonight and how she was going to meet her 5 favourite people (other than Sky and Perrie) and how wondourful it was going to be.
