How To Be A Heartbreaker (A Zayn Malik Fanfic)
Chapter Two
Chapter 2
“Your Perrie Edwards?” I ask, baffled as to why she’s calling me. I’m not one to keep up with gossip but last thing I heard they were engaged just a week ago!
“The one and only,” she states almost sadly. I can imagine her sad smile because it’s the same I’ve been wearing for a long time.
She continues her sob story as I cross the street, only half listening to her constant blubbering. A cab driver beeps at me but I send him an icy glare that makes him look away. I come back to Perrie’s broken voice just as I reach the sidewalk.
“....and he showed up at my flat telling me that he never loved me, that it was all for show. I told him that we could try, try us, but he told me that he could never love someone like me.”
Just after that she broke off into sobs. I feel awkward, like I’m intruding on a conversation that is non of my business instead of being part of it.
“Perrie,” I begin calmly like I do with all my clients. “I want you to get all dolled up, call some friends, and have a girl’s night. I want you to forget about Zayn and have a good time.”
“I can’t,” she hiccups just as I reach the door to my flatt and turn the key. “They’re all home visiting their families.”
I honestly feel bad for her. This jerk lead her on and then left her before they were going to get married, one of the most sacred promises and people just take it for granted. Now a days people get divorces left and right. Does commitment mean anything to anyone anymore? People say marriage is about a man and a woman (or a woman and a woman or man and a man) but that’s not always true. The actions you take affects everyone around you.
Perrie suddenly gasps- scaring the crap outta me, I might add- like she’s had the most brilliant idea.
“Why don’t you come with me?” she shouts, leading me to pull the phone away from my ear so she doesn’t blow my brains out.
“I don’t know,” I reply hesitantly. Why can’t I go? I’m not doing anything and Perrie seems to be a really nice person.
“I guess I could g-” I start but I’m cut off by her shrieks. Gosh, I’m gonna need ear plugs just to hang out with this girl.
“Yay! Okay I’ll pick you up in 30! We’re going to Nando’s.”
Before I even have the chance to reply, I heard the familiar beep, signaling that Perrie ended the call. With a sigh I pull the phone from my ear and send her my address, saving her into my contacts.
It’s gonna be a long night.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I look around my flat once more before heading to the bathroom to work on my make-up and hair. I killed a good 10 minutes just picking a suitable outfit and taking a shower
I keep my make-up simple but put my hair into an intricate knot-braid. I study myself in the mirror one last time and are slightly satisfied with my appearance. My natural bleach-blonde hair weaves its way through itself in a braid that extends down to just below my rib cage. My face I guess is acceptable, just some mascara and eyeliner to highlight my iceberg blue eyes and sheer lip gloss to finish it off.
Just as I’m about to leave the room, the doorbell rings.
“It’s open!” I scream as I grab my black clutch and phone off the sink.
I finally have everything together and whirl around to see Perrie gaping at me like the catch of the day.
“Oh.My.God,” She states quickly.
“What?” I reply nervously. “Oh my gosh there’s a murder behind me, isn’t there?”
Perrie giggles when I turn around and I become more confused and worried than before. Maybe I’m being Punked!.
“No you’re just really pretty!”
“Wow. Thanks,” I answer, honestly baffled.
If you didn’t know any better, you might think Perrie and I were sisters not complete stranger. Same blonde hair, bright eyes and build but I’m about two inches taller.
I feel slightly overdress in heels in a skirt while Perrie is in Uggs and leggings.
“Should I change?” I ask, shifting awkwardly.
“No you look brilliant!” Perrie jeers, leading me to the paparazzi outside.
Lights blind me as questions are hurled at me from every direction. I want to just curl up in a ball and scream but I know any outburst on my part will just end up in the papers tomorrow.
Just when I think I actually will explode, sending little Auden bits flying into the crowd, I hit something hard.
A car.
I send up a silent “Thank you” and hop into the passenger seat with a heavy sigh.
“Well that was fun,” I comment, my voice dripping with sarcasm. Perrie laughs, gripping the wheel tighter as the flashes lessen and the people shrink.
“Try doing that every day. It’s enough to drive a person mad!” she yells, not taking her eyes off the road. Out nowhere a man jump into the street and Perrie slams on the brakes to avoid hitting the bozo.
“Watch where you’re going, bub!” Perrie yells out the window then, when he leaves, mutters a few choice words under her breath. Now it’s my turn to laugh.
“What’s so funny?” she asks, puzzled.
“Per, I think you have a bit of road rage,” I manage to giggle out. Her face turns a light crimson but she manages to laugh anyways.
“Yeah, I got it from my mum.”
The whole rest of the ride is like this; bubbling with lively conversation. At one point Perrie has to pull over because we’re laughing so hard. I’m not gonna lie, I almost peed myself myself twice. I think I can grow to like this girl.
“We’re he-re,” Perrie sings and I laugh at her silliness. It feels good to let my guard down for once, good to feel like I can.
As soon as I step out of the car I let out a happy moan.
“It smells so good!” I whine and Perrie snorts.
“You sound like Niall,” she remarks and I see a faint gleam in her eyes.
“Oh no you don’t!” I scold, almost like mother reprimanding a child. “No thinking about that certain boyband. Girl’s night, remember?”
Perrie nods and as we inside I am overwhelmed by the hustle and bustle of this quaint little restaurant. It feels warm and homey, like when you visit your grandparents for Christmas holiday. Every waiter or waitress has a real smile on their faces and I feel one creep it’s way onto mine. That is, until my stomach gurgles. I frown as wave hunger waves and I grab Perrie’s hand.
“Let’s go. I’m starving!”
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
“Holy crap that was amazing!” I lean back with a full stomach. I think I just gained ten pounds.
“Yeah I used to come here all the time,” Perrie says. She looks around as if this place holds a thousand memories and maybe it does. Maybe for her this place is like a movie reel, seeing her past go before her in flashes,
Just as I think this, I hear someone enter and shouts of four very loud voices.
One Direction.
