Harry: Just a place to get away
“Hmmphh.” I raised an eyebrow as I continued to flip through the channels. “HUMMMPPHHH.” I continued to scroll to the tv channels but the sighs from the lads got louder and even more consistent.
“Is there something you need boys?” I turned the tv off and turned to the four boys who sat scattered around the joint living area of the two rooms.
“Harold! We’re board…” Louis cried, “Let’s go do something.” I chuckled, “Then go do something.”
“Come with us!” I smirked, “did you get Paul’s phone and text the gorilla’s?” Niall nodded hysterically. “Already done mate, they’re going into Dallas. We want to look around, come on Harold!”
I let out a sigh and nodded “Fine, let’s go.” I put on my sunglasses and headed was the first one out of the room. The lads cheered with excitement.
We had spent a good thirty minutes walking about. There was not a whole lot of people in downtown, the girls were right. Everyone was at the graduation.
“Oi, I’m hungry. Lets hit up that diner it’s open.” Niall led the way and was the first one in. “Well hello there sweethearts. What can I do for you?” An aging woman smiled from the counter. “Yeah, table for 5?” Her smile was soft but loving.
“Of course! You boys must be that band that my Charlie entered some contest for.” She patted the counter and set down a stack of menus. “So you know Charlotte?” Liam asked.
“Of course I do! Everyone knows beautiful Charlotte Gregory, outstanding young lady.” Her laughter was gentle. “So does that mean you know Blake as well?” Her eyes met mine, but her smile wasn’t so bright at the mention of her name.
“Dear, this is a small town and the Gregory’s are no secret to this town, especially darling Blake. Coffee?” She placed a glass of water and coffee cup for each of us. I furrowed my eyes and stared down at the coffee cup.
“So why aren’t you at the graduation Mrs… I’m sorry.” The old woman smiled, “Please call me Nana Grace. Everyone in town does.” My good lord, this town was really small.
Liam nodded, “Why aren’t you at the graduation Nana Grace?” She refilled Niall’s glass of water and smiled, she truly smiled a lot! “Already was, left early. Everyone is bound to come flooding in any time soon now.”
We ordered our food and sat around talking with Nana Grace. She was just brilliant, so sweet and gave so much advice but I wasn’t satisfied with her answer about Blake.
“Nana Grace,” I was able to croak out. She looked at me smiling of course. “Yes Harry.”
I took a sip of my water debating on whether or not I should bring it up. “What would be your thoughts on an English boy band sticking around for a little while?” The clinking of silverware on the plates, Nana Grace just smiled.
“I think that would be an amazing idea. Our young ladies here are in love with you but I do believe that you will be given your space. Why, what’s on your mind son?”
“Yeah, what’s on your mind?” Liam mimicked, not to be rude but just caught off guard. “I just think it would be nice to have a little break, get a head start on the new album, relax and get away from the public eye.”
I took a sip on my water. “Paul wouldn’t let it happen, nor would Simon.” Zayn muttered. “Well boys, if you want my opinion on it?” Liam nodded his head.
“I think that Lexar Falls would love to have you. You boys are too young to work yourself to the bone. Stay, relax, and stay for the summer. You deserve it from what I have heard. I just hope this Paul and Simon see it.”
Nana Grace had been right. Just as I was being pulled into my thoughts the bell from the door went off. “You five have some explaining to do.” I looked up at Nana Grace and she gave me a wink. Let the games begin.
