Still the One

I've been grounded for a week. I'm sitting in my room doing homework and listening to Blow by Ke$ha. My mom wouldn't let even let me go to the psyche party for championships after practice! My friends Megan and Halle were really unhappy with me and my parents. Oh, well, it's just food. I have that at home. We have a district meet tomorrow and I'm so excited. I actually get to go to it! Well, it's because my coach fought my mom to let me go. Thanks, Coach! I just found out my events and I'm swimming 100 breaststroke, 500 Freestyle, and I'm the anchor in the free relay(I'm swimming the last four laps). The most events you can swim are four, but we have a big team so only the best get three or four. I think Lauren might be coming, so I'll have someone to hang with after, she's not allowed on deck. Megan and Halle are excited to have me come, I haven't seen them in a few days. Okay, back to my homework- my mom makes random checks.

The screaming of my teammates and our parents pump adrenaline through my body as I swim the last fifty yards of the relay. The water was cold when I dove in, but fortunately I've warmed up to it now. I reach the flags and stop turning my head to breathe so as not to gain time. I quickly flip turn against the wall and streamline out past the flags, finally taking a breath. I'm slightly out of breath from not breathing as I always am, but I suck it up and sprint the last twelve and a half yards to the wall where I started. The screams of the girls in my relay and on my team get louder as I come closer. A stroke more and I hit the wall with all my strength. The touchpads can't always detect your hands since they're waterproof. I'm lifted out of the water by Halle and Megan who are congratulating me because we won. We walk over to chat with our coach for a second and then head back to the locker rooms to change.
"We kicked their butts!" Megan said.
"Yeah! I crushed that loser in the hundred back!" Halle agreed.
"You guys are hilarious! How did I ever swim without you?" I laugh as we strip off our suits.
"I really have no idea how you even lived before you met me!" Megan is one of the most sarcastic people I know. That's okay though! Not everyone is a swimmer, so I can't be picky with who I choose as my friend.
After I've changed into clothes suitable enough to wear to Graeters, I quickly apply mascara, I hate not wearing any makeup, Halle and Megan do the same.
"I'll see you guys at practice tomorrow, kay?" I said.
"Yeah.See you then guys!" Halle waves and takes a few long strides to her boyfriend.
I go to find my family, but I'm caught off guard when I see a familiar blonde quiff and curly brown mop.
"Hey, Jordan!" Harry greets me with a hug and Niall plants a kiss on my cheek.
"Hey, guys! Where's Lauren?"
"She went to the bathroom."
"Oh, okay," I say. "We were just about to go to Graeters, wanna come?"
"What's Graeters?" Niall and Harry asked together.
"OMG! This is offensive. All you need to know is that it is food," I smile.
Just then, Lauren skips out of the bathroom hallway. "Hey. You ready to go to Graeters?" She asks.
"Yup. They don't even know what it is!" I say disappointedly.
"What? And they're still alive? How can you live without Graeters?"
"I know right!" I laughed. "It's a good thing were taking them now. They might die of lack of Graeters!"
After blindfolding the boys, we buckled into Lauren's new turquoise Audi and drove to Graeters. From the backseat I heard Niall say to Harry "I bet it's yummy. And sweet. Jordan never disappoints me when it comes to food!"
I stifled a laugh and flipped down the visor so I could see them through the mirror.
"Alright boys!" Lauren said excitedly. "We're almost here!"
Lauren and I decided that I would go get the orders and she would stay at a table with the boys.
"Jordan?" I heard a familiar voice call from behind the counter.
"Anna?!" I answered. Oh my gosh! I forgot she stil worked at Greaters!
"How are you?" Anna went around the counter so she could come hug me.
"I'm living the life of my dreams! How bout you?"
"I'm really liking it. I got promoted to manager," she said.
"OMG! Congratulations!"
"Thanks! Are you still swimming?" She asked.
"Yeah. Actually we just got back from a meet!"
"We?" Anna asked quizzically.
"You'll never guess who I'm here with!" I grabbed her hand and led her to the table where Lauren and the boys were.
"ANNA! Oh my goodness! It's so good to see you! How are you?" Lauren practically screamed.
"Fantastic!" She answered. "Who are they?"
"Boys! Take your blindfolds off," Lauren instructed.
"OH my word!" Anna exclaimed. "I know those faces so well! Yor Niall and Harry!"
"In the flesh!" Beamed Harry.
We all laughed.
"Do you boys have any idea of how much they fangirled over you?"
It had been two years since we had last seen Anna. She was a junior when Lauren and I were freshmen.
"Hi Anna!" Niall gave her a hug. Anna hugged back.
"Have you ever had Greaters?" Asked Anna.
"No. All Jordan told me was that its food!" Niall replied.
"Well, everyone around here loves Greaters."
After a few minutes, Anna had to get back to work, and we decided we would order. "Blindfolds back on boys!" Lauren chuckled.
I went up and ordered Lauren's and my regulars: cotton candy for me and raspberry chocolate chip for her. Then I got a plain vanilla for Harry and a mint chocolate chip for Niall- it was the closest thing to Irish. After leaving a nice tip for Anna, I walked over to the boys carrying three cones and one bowl- I hate cones. I set down Harry's and Niall's in front of then and hand Lauren's to her.
"Okay we'll feel you the first bite okay?" Lauren laughed.
"Okay!" They responded.
I scooped up a bit of Niall's mint chocolate chip and instructed him to open his mouth which he did voluntarily. His tongue came out to meet the spoon and an "Mmmm!" Escaped his mouth. he soon took off his blindfold and started gobbling it down. "It's good Haz! Try it!" Niall said. Good thing I had gotten Niall an extra large and Harry a medium.
Yummy!" Hazza said and licked the rest of his cone as Lauren and I started eating.
"There's a bakery too, guys. They have donuts and pasteries and stuff," I pointed to another counter across the room and Niall was already rushing over there with his wallet handy.
"I laughed as the finished up my bowl of cotton candy ice cream. I once had two bowls in almost one sitting!
Niall returned minutes later with eight of everything. We got one, and he got seven. Not that I minded Greaters was too rich to be able to eat all that stuff anyways.
"So does this pass Niall Horan's taste test?" I teased knowing the answer.
"No!" He teased back. "It aces it!"
We laughed and then headed back to Lauren's Audi.
Yeah, buddy! We definitely had something special. It just wasn't fully uncovered yet.
