How Sweet The Taste

When I came to, I was back in my bed. My right side hurt, making me groan from the pain. The new pain came in tiny jolts as I tried to hold in my cries, the memories of what happened coming back in vivid detail. I looked around my room, coming to a stop when I spot Liam sitting in a chair beside my bed.

“Hey.” He said softly, leaning forward to be closer to me.

“You broke my arm.” I growl, trying to to move the injured part of my body.

“And your shoulder.” He quietly adds, an apologetic look sincere on his face.

“Why?” I rasp, my throat hurting.

“I called Louis when I got to you. You are further along in both vampire and werewolf transformation than we had originally thought. We have almost two weeks until the next full moon.” Liam said, brushing my hair away from my face.

“Yeah, what does that have to do with anything?” I ask, frowning. This can’t be good.

“When a new werewolf is in transformation, their bone structure changes as well...” Liam trailed off. I stared at him in disbelief.

“So, until the full moon comes I’m going to break a few things?” I ask, thinking it will just be my legs and my arms.

“You will break everything. It will start of with the arms and legs then the fingers and toes. On the full moon, what you haven’t broke will break and then be healed almost instantly. Or, that’s what I was told.” Liam explained, making me want to scream.

“Louis said that the worst of being a werewolf was eating raw meat.” I say, trying to ignore the throbbing pain I caused as I tried to sit up. Liam’s hands pushed me back down, not allowing me to move.

“He said that was the worst of the hunger.” Liam corrected, making me want to slap him.

“And I don’t want to be the barer of bad news but it doesn’t get better on the vampire side either.” Niall’s voice came out of no where, making us both look towards the door.

“Niall, leave it be.” Liam warned, standing to his feet.

“I think that she deserves to know beings it starts right after the full moon.” Niall replies instantly, standing his ground.

“I think she has enough to deal with right now.” Liam retaliates.

“I want to know.” I interrupt.

“You really don’t.” Liam says, turning to me.

“I need to know. To be prepared.” I say, ignoring the small pleading look he gave me.

“After you break ever bone in that pretty little body, you won’t have enough time to recover until your body starts to shut itself down.” Niall informs me, sitting on the end of my bed.

“So, I’m basically going to die in the next two to three weeks.” I say bluntly, my mind so far gone it doesn’t even try to block all of the new information.

“Only the human part of you. After that, you will be as good as new. Better than what you are now. Well, if you complete our side of the transformation.” Niall explained.

“Why wouldn’t I complete it?” I asked, starting to worry. What if my body shuts down and never restarts?

“The only way you won’t complete the vampire side of the transformation is if you don’t feed on fresh blood.” Liam interferes, soothing my mind only for a moment.

“You have to kill someone.” Niall states bluntly, making Liam growl as he ruins Liam’s sugar coating.

“Well, in this case two people.” Louis speaks up, making us all jump.

“I thought you wasn’t supposed to be back until tonight.” Liam asks, making me frown. I was out for almost two days?

“I decided to come in early to check on Anna.” Louis moves to my side as he speaks, his cold hand touching my face.

“She’s already starting to get the fever.” Liam says, his eyes watching the boy that just barged in.

“What do you mean I have to kill two people?” I ask, worry starting to set in.

“Exactly what I said. You will have to take two lives. One for raw meat and the second for their life’s blood.” Louis says, making my stomach turn.

“And if I don’t do either?” I ask, looking up at him. Blue-green eyes hardened at my question.
“Then you die.”
