Art Museums (Is it working? )
Zoe POV
"Louis?" I ask. He sits there, teary eyed. "What's wrong? How did you get in here?" I ask him.
"Um well. Your mom gave me a key and I um..I...I had a nightmare," he tells me. I try to hold in my laugh, but it doesn't work and I immediately feel bad. "Laugh all you want. But, when we were kids, you would always help me when I had nightmares." he tells me.
"Oh, sorry, um come sit down," I say, walking to my bed and patting the spot next to me. He follows and gets underneath the covers, lying down on his side. I do the same, facing him.
"This is how we used to sit, when we were younger." he tells me, closing his eyes.
"How do you remember so much?" I giggle, softly.
"Being with you... those years were some of the best I've ever had. You were my best friend," he tells me. I suddenly start to feel bad. I want to remember the things we did together. I wanna remember the times we made videos. I want to remember Louis, but I can't and I don't understand why. "I'm glad we're back together again Zoe, I'll just have to make you remember what we did," he smiles.
"Okay, well let's start with your nightmares," I tell him.
"Well, usually when I had a nightmare, you would grab me a cup of tea and we’d sit and watch reruns of cop shows until I fell asleep,” He tells me. Now that sounds like something I would do.
“Ok, well come with me.” I say, leading him to the kitchen. I grab two mugs, one red and one blue, and place them on the counter. “Would you like black or green tea?” I ask him.
“Green please,” he mumbles, sitting down at one the chairs at the marble counter. I smile and place two green tea bags into the mugs.
After the water has boiled, I fill the mugs up with the steamy liquid and let them sit for a while before handing the blue one to Louis.
“Thanks,” he smiles.
“No problem,” I say, walking back to my room and sitting back down on my bed. Louis sits down as well and waits for me to turn on the TV. The first cop show I find, and my favorite, is Castle. “This show ok?” I ask, hoping he says yes.
“It’s perfect,” he says, taking a long sip from his mug and setting it back down on the nightstand. I watch as his eyes slowly droop closed and then soon, I too, and doing the same.
I wake up the next morning with Louis beside me. His hands are wrapped around my waist and my back is towards him. I try to pry his arms off of me without waking him, but it doesn't work.
"Hey,' he says, in his morning voice.
Omigod, that's pretty sexy. Even though we were best friends back in the day, I still have to fangirl over him at some moments. I'm getting used to seeing him, but that doesn't change the fact that he is my favorite member of my favorite band since forever.
"Hello," I smile.
"What are you doing today?" he asks me.
"Oh I was probably going to go to the park today, check it out, bring some food and a book or two maybe," I tell him.
"That's boring. You're boring," he laughs, rolling back underneath the covers.
"It is not boring!" I defend myself.
"Really Zoe? No one likes reading except you." He informs me.
"That is soooo not true," I tell him.
"We can do anything, but that," he responds.
"We? I didn't say you were coming along," I laugh.
"Well, I am, but we are NOT reading," he laughs.
"Ok well, it's either reading or …. I really want to go to the art museum here." I give him his options.
"Ok, museum it is. I'll be here to pick you up in two hours," he says, exiting my room. I laugh, when I know he has left my house.
I hop in the shower and take a quick ten minute shower, well... quick for me. Knowing the art museums here are very nice, I decide to dress nice as well. I pull out a little black dress from my closet. It has a Peter Pan collar on it, and I slip it on. I also put on a pair of black tights and my Sixty Seven Delano Oxford shoes. To give my outfit a bit more of color, I slip on a bright yellow raincoat and a cross necklace. I dry my hair and but it up in a bun, braiding random bits of it. I slip on a sunflower crown and apply a two layer coat of yellow nail polish. To finish it up, I do my makeup, making my eyes very bold. http://www.polyvore.com/cgi/set?id=103401874
I take a glance in the mirror and smile, loving my look right now. I take a look at the clock and it's 8:30. I have 30 more minutes to read.
After my reading session, I open the door to invite Louis in. He looks me up and down, smiling.
"You look great," he says, kissing my cheek. I'm taken back a bit, and I back away. "It's fine, Zoe. We're friends. Oh and is it ok if Eleanor comes as well?" He asks me. For some reason, I feel a little upset when he mentions Eleanor and I don't know why.
"Ya, that's fine," I say, putting on a fake smile. Louis looks at me suspiciously, but lets it go. We walk to the car and he opens the door for me. I nod, thanking him, and slide in. He closes it behind him and I watch, as he runs to the driver's side and hops in.
"Ok so we will meet Eleanor there," he informs me. I nod. "Wanna listen to some music or something?" he asks.
"Um you can. I'm just gonna finish up some reading,"
"You and your books..." he laughs. "Why do you like them so much?" he asks me.
"Well, I really like escaping my own world, I just find my life so boring and I enjoy imagining myself as different characters. My uncle got me addicted to reading. When my dad left, I needed someone to support me and no one was there, so I grabbed a book. Then, there were millions of people waiting for me to listen to their stories."
"Wow," is all he says. I wait for him to say more, but he doesn't. I continue reading my book.
"We're here," Louis says, pulling into a parking spot, twenty minutes later. Since it is Tuesday, there aren't many people here, just a couple of old couples. No one that would recognize Louis. I see Eleanor and I wave.
"Hey guys!" she smiles, pecking Louis on the lips. I watch in jealousy. Why can't I have a cute relationship like them? And with someone as perfect as Louis? The last boyfriend I had was Sawyer, he was perfect, everything a girl could want, except for one thing… he was boring. We didn’t have any fights, which many people would say is a good thing, but not to me. We didn’t have any really bad times, but then again, we never had any really good times as well. If you don’t have a bad experience, then you can never fully understand and acknowledge the truly amazing ones, ones we did not have. I just wish that something interesting would have happened.
“Zoe?” Louis snaps me out of my thoughts.
“Sorry, ya?” I ask.
“What were you thinking about?” he asks me.
“Nothing, the past, it’s nothing,” Louis looks at me with worry, as well as Eleanor. THey must think I’m mental or something. Maybe I am. I’m not quite sure yet.
“Well, are you ready to go in?” Eleanor asks, impatiently. Louis laughs at her and she playfully smacks him in the arm. Yup, I’m jealous.
We wait in line for the tickets, which isn’t that long, but long enough for you to dread on about your life more. This whole time I have been in line, Louis and Eleanor haven’t even acknowledged me. They didn’t even notice when a pair of gay men cut in front of me. I let it slide though.
So here I am, two spots behind them in line. When I do reach the front, I take out my wallet to pay for my ticket. I hand the lady sixteen dollars before grabbing the tiny slip of paper allowing me to enter the large building.
I walk around a bit, not paying attention to a lot of the paintings. None of them are sticking out to me, they all seem the same. I walk into another section of the large building before a small painting catches my eyes. The strokes are beautiful and the color scheme is splendid. I can’t take my eyes off of it.
“Ya, I like that one as well,” I hear a voice say behind me. I turn around and see a face I thought I would never see again.
"John?"
"Louis?" I ask. He sits there, teary eyed. "What's wrong? How did you get in here?" I ask him.
