Little Steps

Clubbing with Amber

Two days later
Harry and Niall were currently in the game room trying to beat each other and Call of Duty, while Amber and I were in the guest room. We weren’t talking at the moment, as Amber said she needed concentration if she wanted to paint her toenails perfectly. I practically rolled my eyes at the one. Amber was the definition of a girly girl. At least she was sweet.

“So the other day, I was looking at things to do in London, and I found this bar we could go to. I think it’s called The Funky Buddha, or something like that.” Amber chirped, looking at her nails what a satisfied grin.

I hesitated, remembering the last time I went to a club.

“Erm, clubs and I aren’t exactly the best of friends.”

“Nonsense,” Amber exclaimed. “I totally think we should go. Just the two of us?”

I sighed. “Why not?”

A large grin appeared on Amber’s perfect pink lips. “Great. We should go tonight.” She paused to look down at her phone. “We’ve got two hours until eight. Have you got anything to wear?”

“No,” I answered, knowing my wardrobe was pretty much shirts and jeans. “Not a single clubbing outfit in sight. Amber gave me a mischievous grin.

“Have I got the perfect outfit for you.”

She stood up and went over to her suitcase, and pulled out a half shoulder one sleeve dress with cutouts in the sides.

“Oh. No. No. No. No. No.” I protested, shaking my head wildly.

“Come on. Just try it on.” Amber begged, holding the dress out to me.

“No. Never in a million years would I wear that dress.”

“Please, Aria. Please. Just tonight. I’ll never make you war anything like this ever again.” And then she did a little puppy dog face, jumping up and down, pleading me to wear it. I shuddered.

“Fine.”

I stood up and grabbed the dress from her hands, eyeing Amber and she happily squealed. Still glaring at her, I made my way towards the bathroom and closed the door. I stared at myself in the large mirror for a second, thinking how such a showy dress could look good on… me.

I stripped off my current clothing and slid on the black dress, not daring to look in the mirror. I probably looked terrible. Instead, I looked down and ran my finger along the areas were the cutouts showed my skin, feeling every bit of insecure a girl could feel. Hesitating, I turned around and faced the mirror.

Holy shit.

I looked good.

Like, really good.

I unlocked the door and made sure neither of the guys was coming towards me before tiptoeing back into the guest room, where Amber sat on the bed in a different black dress. She looked up and her eyes widened.

“Damn, you look hot.”

I blushed, watching as she stood up. The dress she had on was slightly more covered, but a V ran down the midsection of her dress, and was covered by a thin net.

“You look good, too.” I commented with a smile. She went to another one of her suitcases and pulled out a pair of black Christian Louboutin Drapesses. Those shoes had to cost at least a thousand bucks.

“Try them on.”

I looked skeptically at the shoes, secretly knowing I wouldn’t be able to last even an hour in them, but took them any way, slipping them onto my feet. I was instantly five inches taller, and looking slightly down on Amber.

“That’s perfect.” Amber declared, then grabbed a pair of lace pumps and put them on her own feet. She took a look in the full length mirror, her expression showing she looked happy with her appearance. I had to admit, I was happy with my appearance, too.

“Would you let me put a little bit of make up on you? Just a small go for the smoky eye look would go good with your dress.” Amber said, pulling a makeup bag on of her suitcase.

“Fine with me,” I shrugged. “As long as you don’t make me look like a Barbie.”

“Girl, your already as pretty as a Barbie, even without the makeup.”

A smile hit my lips.

Amber and I headed to the bathroom, where she applied a small amount of eye shadow and mascara to my eyes for a decent smoky eyed look after putting on some foundation. She added some eyeliner around my eyes and we both agreed the makeup brought out the blue of my eyes. She applied some lip gloss to my lips, glancing at the time on her phone, notifying that we had about an hour left to get ready.

Then, Amber let me do her makeup. Just because I rarely wore the stuff didn’t mean that I was terrible at putting it on. I went for a more complicated look on her, adding teal eye shadow onto her eyelids and thick black mascara to her eyelashes. I put a small tint of the eye shadow under her eye to give it a fuller look.

Amber sat me down in a chair and straightened my hair, then tossed it over into a neat parting and pulled some of my hair into a bump with her various hair products. I went for a more simple look with Amber’s hair, declaring that she already had such beautiful hair. I added a few curls at the bottom, and told her to wear her hair down.

We took a look in the mirror, declaring ourselves ready to go.

Amber grabbed my hand and led me into the game room, where the boys were too focused on their game to see Amber and I walk in. Amber cleared her throat.

Harry and Niall turned around, and Niall immediately coughed in surprise, and Harry stared, mouth agape, at Amber.

“Why the hell are you guys dressed like that?” Harry managed to get out, unable to take his eyes of Amber.

“We’re going clubbing.” Amber shrugged with a grin, winking at me. I nodded and turned to Niall, who I was sure would begin drooling soon.

“Are we invited?” Harry asked, scanning Amber up and down, while Niall slowly shook his head at me in awe.

“No.” I smirked, glancing back and forth between Harry and Niall.

“There is no way I’m letting you go out looking like that.” Niall hissed, grabbing my hand and pulling me out into the hallway, leaving Harry to, most likely, say the same thing to Amber.

“Why not?” I pouted, biting my lip.

“No,” Niall argued. “Quit biting your lip right this second or I will have to take you down right here, right now.”

I stopped biting my lip, frowning at Niall.

“Why can’t I go?”

“You look way too sexy for someone not to want to get their hands on you.” He hissed, a small smile teasing his lips.

Sexy?

Me?

L.O.L.

No.

“Trust me, Niall. I do not look that attractive. Let alone sexy. Just let me go. I promise I won’t let anyone touch me. I’ll kick their ass if they try.”

Niall huffed. “No way. You look way too damn good.”

“Niall,” I cooed in a whisper, ruffling his hair. He gulped, his eyes focused on mine. “Do you not trust me?”

“No, I trust you.” He assured. “It’s the other guys out there that I don’t trust.”

“Aww,” I giggled. “Is Niall jealous?”

“Am not.” He grumbled, crossing his arms over his chest. Then he hesitated and his expression softened. “Okay, fine. I kind of am.”

I exhaled and pulled Niall in, hugging him tightly. “It’s okay. I’m yours. You have no need to be jealous. I love you, and only you.”

He pulled back, leaning his forehead against mine. “I love you, too.”

Without a second wasted, he kissed me, way too slow and calm for my liking. It’s like he was trying to stall me. Giggling, I pushed him away.

“What?” he pouted. “That’s all I get?”

“Yeah.” I replied, “Sorry, dude.”

Niall laughed, wrapping his arms around my waist.

“For the record, you really do look extremely sexy. And gorgeous. And beautiful. And hot. And amazing. But mostly sexy.”

I smirked and pecked his lips before wiggling out of his arms and skipping into the game room where Harry and Amber where heatedly making out on the small sofa.

I knocked on the surface of the door and shouted loudly, “Time to go, Amber.”

She pulled away from Harry and shot him a grin before getting off of him and blowing him a kiss. As we neared the front door, Harry and Niall shouted in unison,

“Don’t let anyone touch you!”

Amber and I giggled and left the house, getting inside Amber’s and Harry’s rental car.

“Get ready for the time of your life.” Amber winked, starting the car ignition.

Walking beside Amber, we made our way into the club. The sky was darkening, and the loud music coming from the club could be heard from half a mile away. After paying for our entry, we faced a crowd of already drunk people who were jumping up and down to an upbeat song I didn’t recognize.

“We’ll meet each other at the entrance by eleven, okay?” Amber said quickly, her eyes on the bar tender.

“No, wait! We can’t just split up! I thought-“

But Amber had already run off.

Oh, great.

I stared at all the people dancing and shouting and laughing. Everyone here seemed like they knew what they were doing. I didn’t.

“Hey.” I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and came face to face with Zayn.

Zayn.

Zayn?

“Zayn!” I cheered, pulling him into a hug. “What are you doing here?”

He pulled away with a huge grin on his face. “Didn’t Niall tell you we’re all in London for recording? Liam’s somewhere here too, probably with Louis and Eleanor.”

“Eleanor is here?” I squealed, suddenly feeling a lot less lost and alone.

“Yeah.” Zayn replied. ‘Come on.”

As I followed Zayn through the crowd of people, I counted at least two guys who tried to feel me up. I kneed one drunkie in the crotch and simply pushed the other one away.

Finally, I caught sight of Eleanor and Louis, who were talking to Liam.

“Guess who I found?” Zayn announced, keeping me behind him.

“Who?” I heard Liam ask.

“Maybe he found Perrie.” Louis paused. “Wait, isn’t Perrie on tour?”

“Hi guys!” I shouted, popping out from behind Zayn. Louis let out a gasp and ran up to me, picking me up and spinning me around. Over Louis’s shoulder, I winked at Liam. He came forward and pulled me away from Louis, crushing me in his arms.

“I missed you, Aria.” Liam whispered, setting me down. “Is Niall here?”

I shook my head. “I came here with Harry’s girlfriend, Amber. Have you guys met her?”

“Nope. But Harry told me she’s hot.” Louis smirked. Eleanor slapped his arm.

“Nice dress by the way.” Eleanor complimented, giving me a gentle hug. “You look absolutely amazing.”

I blushed. “Thanks.”

“I bet Niall had a hard time letting you come here in that.” Liam laughed, taking a sip of his drink.
I shrugged. “He protested, but we kissed and then it was all good.”

“Eww.” Louis squealed, holding Eleanor’s hands up to his ears. Such a kid, that boy.

At that moment, I felt my phone vibrate from inside my clutch. I took my phone out, and read the incoming message.

Mom: Did you get the note? Choose. You have fifteen days. And the clock starts now.
