So You're A Dreamer?
Two: Surprises and Paperwork
Arieonna:
I sat in the passenger side of Luke's car. Faith was driving and Lexi was stretched out in the back seat, her light snores filling the back of the car. The radio was playing lightly and I was tapping my fingers in my lap, the song had a nice beat to it.
"So.." Faith said, drawing my attention. Oh, and Luke was watching Kit back at Lexi and I's apartment. "Have you written any songs in the past year that I have barely seen you?" She chuckled, glancing at me in the mirror.
Grabbing my purse which was down by my feet I tugged out my journal, flipping threw a few pages before I came to my favorite song that I had written. "Actually, I've written quite a few." Faith stopped at a red light, and pulled my journal from my hands, quickly scanning over a few of the lines.
A smile tugged on her lips as she looked back up, starting to drive again while handing me back my journal, "What's that one called?"
"The Way.." I answered shyly and traced over a few lines with my fingers.
I looked back at her and saw a full on smirk on her lips, "Is it about anyone?" Her question hit me in the heart and I sighed, leaning my head against the cool glass window while whispering a quiet 'maybe' back in response. Faith chuckled, hitting the steering wheel lightly with her fist. "I KNEW IT!" I jumped, and Lexi groaned, flipping over onto her side. "Who? Who?"
She sounded like an owl... I sighed, sitting up straight again. "Someone, that's all I'm saying." I wasn't really in the mood to talk about him, especially because I barely even knew him. And he probably didn't even knew I existed. He probably didn't even remember me. I sound like one of his fans..
Faith rolled her eyes, turning a right and I looked to both sides. Nothing here even looked similar to a restaurant. The buildings were just getting bigger and had a lot more windows the farther we went. "Where are we going?" I finally asked, looking over at her and folding my journal closed again.
I saw that she was biting her bottom lip, hiding the urge to laugh and I was suddenly scared. My first day back and I was probably going to be murdered. Ohmygod, Lexi too! I gripped the handle on my door, "Faith, what's going on?" I sat back further and kept my gaze on her.
Finally she let out a breath and started laughing hysterically, gripping her stomach with one hand and keeping the other on the steering wheel as she stopped in a parking lot. Tons of more cars were surrounding us and I suddenly felt claustrophobic. "No.." I whispered, glaring at her.
They didn't. "Oh but we did, Onna," Lexi suddenly said, and rubber her eyes as she sat up, "Welcome to Universal Republic Records, where you have an interview in," she quickly dug her phone out of her pocket and slid the lock over, looking at the time, "twenty minutes."
I gaped at both of them, my mouth hanging open, "How?!" My words came out louder than expected, but it just happened.
"You know how you sung to us before you left, last year?" Faith questioned, turning in her seat to face me. I merely nodded, still gaping at them. "Well, we'd recorded it and showed it to some guy who words here, he filed some paperwork crap, emailed us, and boom! We set you up a interview today!" She smiled, unbuckling herself and getting out of the car, same as Lexi.
I was too overwhelmed to move so I just sat there, taking in what they'd said. I actually had an interview, and they'd probably make me sing. Ohmygod. This was huge. I took a deep breath, like the day I'd auditioned for the X Factor and slowly got out of the car. "Let's go."
They both smiled wide, lacing their arms through mine and walking toward the door with me. Faith only turned around once and that was to lock the car. "You have your journal, right?" Faith asked, looking at me hopefully, they would call my name any minute now.
Raising my empty hands I shook my head, "No. Why?"
"They wanted you to sing an original song.." she trailed off and sighed, propping her head up in her palm.
I nodded, fidgeting in my seat, "Well.. I memorized the lyrics to The Way.."
Her face lit up and Lexi sat up straighter. "That's great!" They both chorused.
With a sigh, I shook my head again. "Two of the parts are meant for a GUY."
"So?" Lexi asked, scrunching her nose, "You rap Eminem all the time. I'm sure you can sing two parts that are meant for a guy and be fine." Before I could respond, my name was called by the lady by the desk and I fidgeted again, slowly standing up. "Good luck.." Lexi whispered and Faith just gave me a thumbs up.
I nodded to them, walking up to the desk. "I'm Arieonna Sheckler." She pointed to a door in the far right corner and explained where I was suppose to go, giving me specific instructions and a clipboard with a sheet of paper on it that I was suppose to fill out while waiting to go inside. I took her instructions and sat in a seat in the corner before looking back down at the paper.
Name(full with middle initial):
Simple enough, I thought while writing down my first and last name, with my middle initial.
What are you aspiring to be?
"Easy," I mumbled mainly to myself and jotted down my answer which was Actress/Singer-Songwriter, it's always been my dream. After I finished filling out the rest of the questions I sat still, looking around the room which held platinum records on the walls and pictures of the producers and their clients. "To think I might end up on here.." I thought out loud and smiled just at the thought.
That was, until my name was called, again. I gulped.
Here goes nothing.
