Chapter 7

Monday

"Hey Max! How was your weekend?" I ask him right as I see him in biology. I feel extra awake this morning, and I couldn't tell you why.

"It was okay, how was yours?" He replies.

"It was... Interesting." I leave out the details of Harry and I's 'homework session.'

"Interesting?" He questions.

"Still getting settled into the new house I guess." I lie, I'm not about to tell him about what I actually did.

As much as I enjoyed it, it will never happen again. I do not hook up with guys, that was a one time thing. I refuse to only be used for sexual favors, especially by a jerk named Harry.

"Hey Max, what did you get for question number six?" A pretty blonde girl walks up to our lab table.

"Here, you can look at mine." He smiles and hands her the paper. "Oh Addie, this is my friend Alicia."

"Hi." I smile and she returns one.

"Hey Addie, you're new right?"

"Yep."

"Your accent is so cool!" She laughs. "Well thanks Max, and it was nice to meet you, Addie!" She smiles and walks back to her table.

"She seems nice." I tell Max.

"Yeah, she's one of my best friends. I've known her my whole life." He explains to me. So she must be nice if she's hanging around Max, and not one of those annoying girls I've encountered here.

"I'll see you around." I tell him as biology finishes. I always forget about having math with Harry. It is not something I am looking forward to.

"Hello, Adelaide." Harry smirks when I sit down in my spot.

"Hi." I say without looking at him. I know is going to tease me about what we did Saturday. I knew I should've told him no, but my body overpowered my mind that day.

To my relief, he doesn't talk to me the entire time we take notes on scatter plots.

"So what really happened to your face?" My curiously gets the best of me when I glance at his still bruised face.

"I got into a fight." He shrugs, like it's no big deal. I can hear my gasp, but I try to stay quiet because we are still in class.

"With who?"

"Does it really matter?" He says harshly.

"I guess not..."

I don't really care... Well I'm curious, but I do not care. Harry deserved it probably.

"What did you get for this one?" Harry asks me about the math worksheet we had just been given.

"I showed you how to do that on Saturday.." I remind him, but instantly regret it.

"Sorry, I tried to do it listen, but then you were all over me." He smirks.

"Harry!" I say through gritted teeth. No one can know what I did, I don't want them to think I'm just another one of those sluts that Harry hooks up with. I already regret doing it, I don't need to be judged by this whole school of people I don't know.

"I'm joking!" He chuckles.

"Whatever," I roll my eyes and pack up my book and folder when the bell rings.

"Addie, come sit with us!" I hear a girl say, but I don't know who when I walk through the cafeteria at lunch.

"Right here!" Max laughs and I finally realize it was Alicia that caught my attention.

I smile and take a seat next to Max, Alicia and Max's friends that I met at that party last Friday.

"Are you going to the football game tonight, Addie?" Alicia asks me.

It takes me a second to remember they call soccer, football here. I used to play, but I never went to watch soccer games back home.

"I don't think so." I tell her and she frowns.

"Oh come on! Max is on the team!" She points to him.

"Are you really?" I look to him. "But I don't know, I don't have a car and that's not really my thing." I try to explain, but Alicia isn't having it.

"I'll pick you up! It'll be fun."

"Fine..." I give in. It will be cool to see Max play, I guess.

"Yay!" She claps her hands together.

Wow.. Nice job, you're actually making friends here, Addie! My conscience mocks me. It's true though, it's about time I made some friends, and I like Alicia already. She seems like someone I could tolerate.

"Wow. There's a lot of people here..." My eyes go wide when I see all of the people in the stands at the field.

"I suppose, I guess it's just a big sport here." Alicia shrugs and we find a seat by a few of her friends.

As Alicia talks to her friends, I watch the boys warm up on the field before the game. I spot Max and then Louis. I didn't know Louis played.. Woah. I didn't know Harry played either.

"Is that Harry Styles?" I ask Alicia and point to him.

"Yeah, he's the captain! Max was pissed when he didn't get it." She laughs and I stay quiet.

"Why?" She smiles. "You think he's cute, don't you?" She elbows me playfully, suggesting something.

"No! He's an ass." I huff.

"He's a lot worse than that." She chuckles. "But you can't deny that he is hot!"

The game begins and I can't keep my eyes off of Harry. He's sweaty and hotter than ever, not temperature wise.

I hate myself for thinking these things about him! I hate who he is as a person; he's a jerk and wants to do nothing but tease me, but I'm physically attracted to him, there's no denying that.

"Hey, you should come to my friend Eleanor's house tomorrow." Alicia tells me.

"On a Tuesday?" I usually don't go out on school nights... This is kind of pushing it for me.

"Yes, Addie, tomorrow is Tuesday." She laughs. "We're just hanging out! You can meet some more of my friends?"

"I'll think about it?" I tell her and she nods.

I like Alicia, so I'll probably like her friends too, but I don't know...

"Good game Max!" I say to him, and he hugs me after the game finishes. He's sweaty, but I guess I don't mind.

"Thanks for coming, Addie!" He smiles.

"Adelaide Walker is out in a school night?" I can hear the sarcasm dripping from Harry's voice behind me.

I turn around to see the tall boy with his wet hair pushed back with some type of headband, revealing his beautiful face.

Stop it, Addie!

"Good game." I tell him.

"Thanks." He grins.

I turn around to continue my conversation with Max, but he's talking to someone else, and I don't want to interrupt him.

"So I'm guessing you're going home now?" He asks.

"I don't know, I might go hang out with Alicia." I lie. I'm most likely going home, but I don't want to sound lame, even though I am...

"Alicia?" He questions and I nod. "Come over?" He smiles.

"No." I tell him bluntly.

"Oh come on, I know you don't want to hang out with Alicia." He raises an eyebrow.

"I'll just go home then."

"Addie!... Oh hey Harry." Alicia yells to me and then blushes when she sees Harry.

Harry smiles at her before she turns back to me and continues talking.

"Me and some of the girls are going out to eat, do you wanna come with?"

"Um..."

"We actually have plans." Harry cuts in.

Both Alicia and I's eyes widen with his comment, and she looks at me like "do you really!?"

"We don't." I look at him. "But that's okay, I need to get home." I tell her honestly.

"I'll take her home." Harry says.

"O-okay." Alicia nods towards Harry. "See you tomorrow, Addie." She looks at me.

I want to kill her for leaving me with him, but I don't want to explain to her why I can't stand him. I just can't win. I'm sure she would convince me to go with him if I had objected because she thinks he's so hot.

"I'll walk." I begin to walk away from him but I know he's following me.

"Oh come on, it's just a ride." He huffs.

I finally give in and get into his now-familiar car. It smells of new car, and there's a light scent of his cologne, making a heavenly mixture.

"Are you sure you don't want to come over?" He asks, and I can tell he already knows the answer.

"Yep."

"Are you mad at me?" His question catches me off guard.

"No." I tell him. "I just don't like you." I look out the window.

He laughs and I feel my cheeks getting red, I know he's going to make fun of me.

"It sure didn't seem like that the other night, when I has my hand in your pants and you were screaming out my name." His chuckle rings through the car.

"Stop bringing that up! I told you, I've never done that before, and I don't know what got into me. It will not happen again, so don't get your hopes up." I snap.

"Okay, damn."

"Thank you." I breath and rub my temple with my hand.

"You liked it though."

Does he not listen!

"Yes, I did okay! Now please stop talking about it." I shake my head. Why does he insist on torturing me?

"Then why don't you want to do it again?" He asks sincerely. Does he really not know the answer to this question?

"Because you're a jerk. You make fun of me, and it's not attractive at all."

"Ouch." He jokingly holds his hand on his chest.

"Well honestly, it's a huge turn off when you tease me."

"Sorry.."

"Whatever." I shrug. He's not really sorry. "Thanks for the ride." I tell him and open the door when he stops at my house.

"Do you need a ride to school tomorrow?"

"No, I'm good Harry." I laugh.

"Addie." He strains and I turn around. "That's just who I am.. I'm a jerk." He admits sicerely and my eyebrow furrows with his admission.

"Well I don't like who you are." I say and shut the door before he can reply.
