Chapter 10
Juliet`s POV:
“What the hell?”, I whispered. Harry stood right behind me and pulled my wrists like he wanted to hold me back.
Liliane spotted me first and her face shut down. She was just as happy as I was to see her here. Zayn said something to her and came up to Harry and me.
“Please don`t kill him...”, Harry whispered in my ear.
“Can`t promise anything right now”, I answered.
“Hey. What are you two doing here?”, Zayn asked like it was no big deal.
“Well, where can I start. This is our favourite place to hang around like for the last 4 years, so this shouldn`t be such a big surprise to you. Besides, if you would have checked your phone once, you`d knew”, I spatted at him. I saw his face clearly hurted from my words.
“Sky, come on...We are just talking and drinking coffee”, he said and tried to reach my elbow, but I refused to let him touch me.
“I just thought you understand the messy situation I`m in right now. You should at least try, but all you actually do is be her listener! How is she supposed to stay away from me, when she is with you?”, I asked angry.
“Juliet, you should let him at least explain...”, Harry started to say.
“Explain? I think that I don`t need explaining for that. They are here. Together.”
“Sky, maybe you should just try to get to know her”, Zayn said slowly.
“I really don`t want to! I already have good friends and that we are having the same DNA won`t change anything about that”, I said raging. “But wait...probably I just thought I have good friends, because if you would be one, you would at least texted me about your afternoon plans!”
“I don`t need your permission to hang out with people”, Zayn said, really angry now too.
“Would you be with any other person, sure! But not, if that person is my halfsister, who tries to steal my life”, I replied.
He prepared for an answer, but Harry interrupted us: “Hey you two, stop it! Juliet you need to calm down and stop to overreact and Zayn – was it so hard to write a text, telling us about what you were about to do?”
Zayn looked guilty and his shoulders dropped down. I took a deep breath and tried to do what Harry told me.
“You`re not making this easier for me”, I said quietly. Zayn looked at me and sighed deeply.
“I don`t want to hurt you, Sky. You are my best friend, more like a sister to me and I love you like hell, but...she really isn`t as bad as you think”, he said.
I starred over to the table, she was sitting on and noticed that she was starring over here as well. She was to far away to be able to understand what we were talking about.
“I feel doomed”, I suddenly said sorrowful.
“What?”, Zayns` eyes softened immediately.
“We are sisters. Her Dad is mine too, but the difference is that she never had him in her life. You both,” I looked at Harry, “have sisters and you love them. I never had any sibling, all I had was Carla and a lot of different baby sitters! I don`t know how to be around her. It`s like we are coming from two different planets”, I said and felt tears in my eyes again.
“Hey, come here”, Zayn said and pulled me in a hug. I laid my head on his chest and closed my eyes, trying to pull back the tears.
“I know it`s confusing and it drives you crazy, but you shouldn`t judge her that fast. She seems to be a nice and friendly person and you should get to know her better”, he mumbled near my head. I freed myself and took a step back.
“I will try?”, I gave in and Zayn smiled: “Wan to start today?”
He saw the panic in my eyes and added quickly: “Or another day.”
I nodded and cleared my throat: “But you can find out some things about her and then I can decided, if I want to get to know her or not.” Zayn sighed, but nodded in the end.
“See you two tomorrow then?”, he asked. Harry and me nodded and he left us at the counter.
“I am so sorry for this”, I said turning to Harry.
“It`s okay, I can understand you, Juliet”, he replied. We got coffee to go and Harry took my hand in his again. He really wanted to cheer me up and it nearly worked, but as we left the shop behind, I still felt uncomfortable.
We left the shop. As well as Zayn and Liliane. Sigh.
