Beautiful Mistake
Two
“My heart’s a stereo; it beats for you so listen close, hear my thoughts in every note…” The tune of One Direction singing Stereo Heart played over and over through Alexis' phone, startling her from her deep sleep. “Five more minutes mom.” she groaned yanking the blankets over her knotted hair that covered her face. As she began to doze off back to sleep there was a banging on her door causing her to jump with her eyes wide open. “WHAT?” she shouted, grumpy and annoyed that she didn't get enough sleep.
Lexi was always a last minute packer which wasn't the best idea this time. The dirty blonde haired girl stayed up all night to pack up most of her room. What didn't fit in her suitcases would be shipped out in boxes by her mother.
“You are going to miss your flight if you don’t get up right this instant!” her mom shouted back through the closed door. Alexis quickly slid her hands around her bed in search for her iPhone which she soon found vibrating underneath her pillow. Several alarms had gone off in hopes of waking the girl but they seemed to be useless. Lexi quickly pulled herself out of bed once she noticed the time and ran off to her bathroom that was down the hall to make herself look more presentable. Grabbing the closest brush near her, she began brushing the harsh tangles out until her hair was it smoothed down. Once knot free she tied up her hair in a bun, and then splashed cold water on her face to wake her up and remove any drool marks off of her face. She followed up by brushing her teeth. Alexis raced back to her room quickly throwing on her outfit that she picked out the night before. She slid her sunglasses up her nose before sliding on her ring and clipping her necklace around her neck. She shoved everything else into her purse before making her way downstairs. This would be the last time she would be in her Pennsylvania house for at least a year. Now it was off to Florida then finally starting a new life in London.
“Ahhhhh!” the two girls screamed and began to run in slow motion towards each other. They had always planned on this when they met and now it was finally happening, only no one was there to record it for them. Felicia jumped onto her friend once she was in reach. “I can't believe you're finally here after all of the times we've talked about flying to see each other.” she squealed letting go of Alexis. “And now we're going to move in together! What is our life?” Lexi responded as she yanked her luggage from the baggage claim. They made their way out to Felicia's truck and piled the suitcases in the back. “You're not too tired after your flight, right?” Felicia hopingly asked as she started her truck. Alexis shook her head in return, “I slept most of the flight and I am ready for whatever you have planned.” She pulled out her phone to tell her that she landed and was with her friend. “I was thinking that we'd go get our American nails done then go back to my house and lounge around until tomorrow.” Felicia explained as she pulled out of the airport parking lot, driving over to the nail salon.
This was the best Fourth of July to date for the two girls. Spending the day with their best friends the day before the two of them leave to move in together in another country is the only way these friends wanted to spend their Fourth. The fact that it was almost nearing the end of the day, the fireworks were finishing up, and the girls were completely shitfaced helped a little.
“Lexi, baby. I want to go swimming right now,” Felicia stated while looking out at the reflection of the last fireworks of the evening in the Gulf of Mexico. Having been at the beach all day, the two girls barely went in the water due to the fact they enjoyed drinking and tanning more. As Felicia made her way towards the water, she had the brilliant idea to strip out of her swimsuit and go naked swimming in the ocean. “Felicia, STAHP IT. What are you doing? People might see you!” Alexis exclaimed, looking around trying to make sure no one could see the naked girl running into the ocean. “Shut up and strip down too,” Felicia told Alexis while splashing around in the water, “it’s not like we’ll ever see these people again.”
Thinking what the hell, the two girls swam around in the ocean naked and drunk for almost an hour before heading back to Felicia’s house. Having a flight the next night was not going to be a good thing for the two of them. By the time the girls made their way back to the house and up into Felicia’s room, they each had a couple of bruises forming from where they bumped into furniture and the pair could not stop giggling. “Lexi, come cuddle with me. Human contact is so much better than my sock monkey,” Felicia slurred a little, the effects of the alcohol mixed with exhaustion hitting her all at once. The pair of girls cuddled into each other, letting their fatigue overtake them, slowly drifting off into a peaceful, drunken slumber.
