Loving Him
Chapter 3
Clarence’s POV
Lily and Madison were totally drunk, faces flushed and movements slightly sporadic. The club was pumping and there were all these hot guys grinding against us but I was really disinterested. Usually this was my scene; bright lights, deafeningly loud music and an alcohol intake that’s turns everything blurry. Tonight, however, I was distracted. My mind kept wandering to Harry and the other blonde guy. What if I got to see them again? What if I got to see him? Harry.
“You’re not yourself tonight, Clarence. You know that?” Lily’s words were slurred. She sat next to me in the booth I had occupied most of the night. The table was littered with cups and glasses and the lighting was terrible.
“Sorry, Lil.”
She flipped away her hair and grinned, “You wanna see Harry Styles again, don’t you?”
I blushed, “Kinda.”
“OK. I’ll grab Mads and we’ll pop in the car and make our way to the concert venue. Don’t get your hopes up though, honey. He is, like, a famous person.”
Even when she was wasted, Lily was a great friend.
Harry’s POV
We finished off our last song and hi-fived some more screaming girls. I could feel the sweat dripping down my face and sucked in some heavy breaths. Lifting my hands in the air, in unison with the others boys, I waited as we were lowered down off the stage from a platform.
“Nice!” Louis slapped me on the back.
I could barely hear him over the scream of the fans but replied with a grin.
We made our way backstage and into the dressing room. I grabbed some bottles of water and tossed them round the room before tipping a whole one over my face.
“There are dehydrated children in Africa, Harry. Just drink the goddam water.” Liam snapped.
“Woah, dude. Sorry.”
Niall spoke up, “Chill out, Liam.”
He sighed and mumbled, “Sorry.”
From in here, the muffled noise of excited teens could still be heard but it was overpowered by a knock at the door. I grabbed Liam's shoulders and gave him a shake.
“I don't know what's up but put a smile on your face and be nice till the end of the night. OK?” I said, as sternly as possible.
Clarence’s POV
We drove for almost an hour till we got the site. Lily directed to the back and I parked the car. Most of the people had left which meant the show was over and the boys would come out soon.
“This isn’t going to work.” I said.
“Get your arse out of the car and hang around in view. If they come out this way, they ain’t gonna be able to see you behind the doors and windows of a black Mazda.”
I got out and leaned on the hood, “Lily, should I smoke? Is that sexy?”
“I don’t know what they’re into.” She laughed and passed me a cigarette, “It’s worth a shot anyway.”
Harry’s POV
One of the bodyguards told us the escape plan. It wasn’t always like this. Usually we could just walk to the car with the bodyguards a couple metres away from us. But the paparazzi in this town were crazed so we had to be directed how to leave each and every area.
A couple minutes later and we were climbing down the stairs that got us to the ground. A couple of metres later and we would all be in the car with black tinted windows and driving to the hotel.
I looked around as my shoes hit the asphalt. In the distance, there was a lone car, a chick sitting on the hood smoking. It wasn’t the paparazzi, because we wouldn’t be able to see their stuff, they were good at that. Hiding. So who was this? Not a crazed fan, either, or they’d be running madly towards us.
Niall came up behind me, “Is that that girl?”
“From Starbucks?” I nodded, her face was coming into view, “yeah it is.”
Clarence’s POV
“Shit, shit.” I gasped, “He’s looking this way.”
“Just calm down and smoke sexily.” Lil called from inside the car.
I puffed out some smoke and tried to be seductive as I drew back on the cig. Harry was glistening under the fluorescent streetlights. I could make out his curly hair and perfect body.
Harry’s POV
“I gotta go talk to her.” I said, walking forward.
Ray, our bodyguard, grabbed me by arm, “Not a chance, kid.”
I sighed, “OK,” and he let go.
Niall laughed, “She didn’t even know who we–“
I broke into a sprint before anyone could react.
