Good or Bad
Chapter Five
"Wakey, wakey, jiggity, jig! Happy Birthday! Oh, God." She gets up closer to my ear. "GET YOUR FUNKY BUTT UP!" I groan loudly and push my head deeper into my pillow. I had a terrible hangover. "No, my head hurts." She explains that if I would just wake up, she'd give me some tylenol. I finally sit up. She shoves it into my mouth and water follows. I start to feel a little better with the water in my system. I stand up and stretch.
"Oh my God, you are the most enthusiastic 18 year old I've ever seen." I smile. She always makes fun of me.
"Oh my God, I'm finally 18! I can gamble and smoke and move out and all that fun stuff!" I say as I jump up and down. "Seriously, a British girl doesn't fit in in America. If I was still in England, I would be partying it up and drinking and smoking and having sex with boys and everything. I can't even drink here. I have to have mum buy me cocktails." I sigh. "Dan and Phil feel my pain." Dan and Phil had moved here six years ago, right after we came here.
"Oh, get over it. Get dressed, we have to go! We're late already." She's hurrying me as I take a shower, get dressed, and do my make up. I check my iPhone as we get into her car. 13 missed calls from Ryan. I press call back.
"Hey, babe, where have you been? I called you like, a million times." He whines into the phone when he answers.
"Sorry, honey, I was sleeping. I went to a party last night."
"Oh my God, you went to a party without me?" I can hear the hurt in his voice.
"Sorry, I had to, Maddie dragged me out."
"Whatever. You better be coming over now." I ask Maddie where we're going.
"Not to his house. That little prick. He may be my boyfriend's best mate, but he's a lousy boyfriend."
"Sorry, we're not coming over." I wait for his yelling.
"What?! You're not putting your boyfriend first? I think we need to talk about us."
"Fine, I'll see you at starbucks at 2:30. Bye." I hang up.
"Where are we going?" I ask Maddie.
" It is a surprise. Wait about two hours." She smiles. She knows I hate long car rides. I groan, but don't complain any more. She hates long car rides too, so if she is willing to drive this far, it's for something special.
